You drinking is basically undoing anything the Celexa is trying to do. Alcohol alone will make you feel very depressed and anxious for days following a binge. The Celexa is trying to work, but doesn't have a fighting chance at that point. Not to mention, you shouldn't be drinking with this medication anyway...that's a given.
Really, your best bet is to stop drinking all together. It is just going to exacerbate any depression and anxiety you may have.
I am majorly depressed and i know the drinking does not help. I am a widow for over 9 yrs and have a 14 year old son. i feel lost and don't kNOW WHAT TO DO. I cant hold down a job. Negative thoughts consume my days, Has anyone out there had experience with alchohol nd suboxone??? im also on celexa 20mg for 9 years. I dodnt know what to do. Where to begin??? PLEASE HELP. THIS IS HELL ON EARTH.
I dont take effexor but I take celexa and zyprexa in the evening and my syn throid in the am. you want to take them at least 4 hours apart. you dont want anything interfereing with the synthroid absorption.I will tell you since I have been on synthroid I am now on the lowest dose of my meds. I am bi polar so I am too scared to stop my head meds but I am doing well on the low doses.
What medications other than Luvox or Celexa could I use for anxiety and ocd? I feel Luvox aint working neither was Celexa. My problem is I cant relax and Im always worrying. I have no compulsions except going on the internet and looking for answers and finding distressing news that I think apply to me. Im tired of this. I deserve to enjoy my life! I dont want to worry about getting it up or my sexual performance.

I think I know the feeling - very weird and unpleasant pulsating crawly feelings in your heart. My doc put me on Celexa in early January for anxiety which was feeding my insomnia. I had horrible side effects including the sensation you describe and I stopped the Celexa after only 10 days. The withdrawal from that awful drug is taking weeks and I still have the pulsating feeling although it is slowly subsiding.
The warnings for all antidepressants are clear. Dont drink alcohol.
That said, I occasionally have a glass of wine and never been a problem. I make sure I've not taken the medication within a few hours. And never, ever drink more than one glass. And never any other type of (harder) alcohol.
Really, I think you knew the answer before you asked. Its your life, but be careful and smart.
But from my experience with alcohol and tachy it happens to me, only takes a glass of wine and my heart ends up over 100 bpm. Perhaps give your doc a call about the celexa? Insomnia may be a side affect from the bb your taking? Just a thought. Perhaps try relax before bed, bath, hot milk, no cigs and watch something boring on the tv till you fall off to sleep? I set tv timer..
CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen.
Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing!
On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.
At first, Celexa made me sleepy and relaxed. Believe me, this was a Good Thing! At last, I could sleep well!
I cannot say that the drug itself decreased my PVCs--however, it DID decrease my awareness of them.
Since their frequency was related to my anxiety and awareness of them (because of the effects of adrenaline), as I became less and less conscious of these sensations, the frequency of PVCs decreased dramatically.
Trust your doctor and give this a try.
I still ahve anxiety, my doctor gave me Celexa which is okay, my question is, is it okay to take Xanax and Celexa together? I used to take Xanax too for panic attacks, and for now I know it will make me feel better. Does anyone know if they can be taken together? I have never been hooked on Xanax at all, so that is not a problem.
t go back to him for three months. I would like to know how to tapper off the Celexa and with me getting off of that and with the help of my thyroid medication will I start to lose weight ( I have not lost ANYTHING since I started my thyroid medication and I am dieting and exercising!!). I go on vacation in two months I would love to lose at least 10pounds although, that isn't even close to what I need to lose.

When that did nothing for the insomnia and resulting panic, I went to a regular doctor the next day and he prescribed Celexa and Klonopin. I did sleep last night, thankfully.
My question now is, can I take one of these low dose Xanax today? I started the Celexa last night and took 1 mg Klonopin to sleep. I just want to feel normal again.

I've taken three benzos, but not that one. But using benzos for sleep isn't the best idea, as they're so easy to become addicted to if you take them regularly, and insomnia tends to get worse with continued use of medication for sleep. I would especially try to wait it out as you're not anywhere near a therapeutic dose of the Celexa yet, and it might make you sedated when you move up. If the Celexa works you won't need the Ativan much.
I have taken Celexa 20mg with Klonopin with excellent results. Normally your doctor wants to wait 4-6 weeks to see if the 20 mg does the job for you, and if not he will increase the dosage. This is how long it takes for the Celexa or any anti-depressant to reach therapeutic level. You will be able to wean off the Klonopin, once your anti-depressant starts working, but I continued on both, and still take the Klonopin with Citolopram.
