I would like to know how to tapper off the Celexa and with me getting off of that and with the help of my thyroid medication will I start to lose weight ( I have not lost ANYTHING since I started my thyroid medication and I am dieting and exercising!!). I go on vacation in two months I would love to lose at least 10pounds although, that isn't even close to what I need to lose.

I also had thyroid cancer and I have no thyroid. I am also bi polar so I was already on celexa/ zyprexa before my surgery.
My endo wouldnt put me on armour because there seems to be a highter risk for the cancer to come back and armour he said would aggravate this. He also kept my TSH aounud 1 and that is where I feel my best at. Everyone is different so you have to keep tweaking your med till you find what is best for you.

The only way to know is to get regular monitoring of your T4 and T3 and make certain your thyroid is functioning properly. While Tsh can indicate a problem with the thyroid that indicates a need for further testing, it isn't in itself a test of the thyroid. I think it tests the pituitary gland. As for those DNA tests, they are useless. If the Celexa was working, obviously you were absorbing it, right?
Why do I have depression and anxiety attacks since I had my thyroid removed due to cancer of the left lobe. What can I do about it? I have suicidal thoughts, but would never go through with it. At least not yet. I need help and I can't get my doctor to understand how serious this really is to me. I just want to feel good again. I am on levothyroxine 1.25 trying to get my dose adjusted to "normal." I also take generic celexa, trazodone and risperdal.
I know some people get DVT, pulmonary embolism from Birth Control and i know that thyroid/synthroid stuff is hormone related but is there any significance or anything documented about hypothyroid/synthroid etc.. and pulmonary embolism? I can't find a reason why this happened to me. I had a PE a few weeks ago with no DVT and docs can't find a reason for it??
celexa and zoloft both will cause this..there ssri,s anti depression meds..eith one o=f you should not have a sex drive..i was on celexa 4 days and i couldnt..i could but it took to long..it kills the drive,.,.theres older meds trhat wont cause this...or ask your doc to put yo on lamictail..it has no weight gain or sex effects...but you have to start at a low dose. theres a black box warring on it,..you can go google it..lamictail..its used for bipolar deppreshion but they use it alot!!!!
Today was the first day of week 5 of celexa for me and I'm still having skin heat up (and feels cool to everyone else), and increased nervousness. Its a lot better than it was but I have read that is takes up to 3 months to work out the kinks. Has anyone ever had any of these side effects last this long???
Also I had a high TSH back in the summer and started on armour thyroid medicine. My TSH dropped from 13.13 to 2.3 in two weeks. Went off of it a few days and it went up to 5.3.
A lot of the medications when increased make me feel horrible, like I was going crazy sometimes. I started on Celexa and it seemed to work the best for me and I went back and forth on 20 and 40mg for several years, along with the Zanax. Finally my doctor decided I needed to be at 40mg Celexa and wanted me off Xanax and on Klonopin. When going through this change I wanted to admit myself to the hospital...I don't know what the exact cause was.
I'm not sure what thyroid meds or anti-depressants you are on but I *know* that I can't make it without Celexa and my thyroid meds.
Have you talked to your doctor about your meds??
I am presently taking 150 mg Wellbutrin in the morning, 20 mg of Celexa (morning), 3 xanax a day and 20 mg of celexa mid to late afternoon. I do not know if this a side effect or not but my jaw tightens up and sometimes i have alot of blinking with my eyes. I do not know if it is Celexa because I have been on it for about 3 months. What can this be. Should I notify the doctor. Or wait till new change of pills take effect.

CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
Avoid foods that cause thyroid flare-ups and avoid stressful life habits and situations as much as you can. Stress makes things worse. And please please please find a good doctor that actually cares and has good credentials. Do your own research and don't rely on a doctor for everything, because they WON'T tell you everything. A lot of doctors believe synthroid is the "cure" but it's not at all!
I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen.
Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing!
On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.
