It helped for like 6 years and then zoloft was losing its effectiveness a little so i switched to celexa and was on that for a year maybe and felt so good that I got off meds completely seven months ago.
Two months ago it came back even worse. I had terrible anxiety, panic attacks, crying, isolating, no appetite. I went back on celexa for a few weeks and still didn't see results after a few weeks. After goign to emergency room, then told me to go to IOP program.
Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( Effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.
08 and a great Dr. treated me with Remeron and Ambien for sleep I did great and just tapered off Remeron and now I take Cymbalta and Lyrica for 2 months so far I'm good....Now I've got Fibro so my Bi-polar seems like a small thing. I do know what happens when I get off med.s tho I get manic but Remeron is great. It got me sane and on track when nothing else worked. Best of luck to you!
My hands stopped shaking in stressfull situations, I got a good job, I went out with friends, I felt 90% cured while on Paxil. I took celexa and lexapro after this with mixed results. All these SSRI's definitely effected me sexually, I couldn't "finish" during sex, this was very upsetting to me, so I stopped.
Now I am on klonopin (have tried beta blockers--they didn't work), it helps a bit but I still think that an serotonin drug may make my physical symptoms better.
I would give Remeron a shot before trying Abilify as Remeron is supposed to have reduced side effects compared to several other antidepressant and you are subject to less interactions.
I posted before, I can't name all I've been on but remeber Prozac, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Effexor (Oh God, withdrawls..never again), Remeron (eternal sleep even when awake). Have done some recent research and the crowd points a lot to Zoloft, Lexapro and Celexa. 5 months ago I went off all meds. I've been dealing with a rough year due to divorce. I recently retired (still young though) and simply don't have a lot going on in life.
The first was a clinical trial and he had no antidepressant and it was a horrible experience. The second time he used daily iIfergen shots and took Celexa and it was bearable for him and our family. This time we started Celexa a month ahead and for about 5 days I gave him a half a pill and then went up to a whole. Titering up like this made it very easy and he didn't have any nausea or wierd feelings at all.
s, tried xanax, ativan and klonopin, and a whole host of other things like neurontin, propranolol, elavil, and remeron. The only meds could tolerate after a few days has been the ssri's and ativan. I spent the last 9 months using only ativan when needed and doing CBT twice a week.
At this point I'm at a loss. My team of professionals suggested that I start trying meds again because I still wasn't stabilizing.
It will go away. If not after 3 to 4 weeks then the doc will give you another one to try. Don't worry, you two will find one that works. I'm started on Celexa and ended up with Remeron which puts me to sleep at night (yeah!) I'm hoping to drop the Celexa when I see the doc again next month. Any questions, just ask.
