Common Questions and Answers about Celexa and opiates

celexa

1345272 tn?1276400328 and celexa.. thats the one the doctor is tapering me off of and it makes me really uneasy considering ive been on it for so long. With the cymbalta ive only been on it for 3 weeks and so far i don't feel much of a difference at all. Just the same fatigue/depression and anxiety i feel regularly. I sure did feel a negative effect from the wellbutrin today though. Do you think if i continue taking the wellbutrin the negative side effects would ease?
Avatar n tn Your best and most accurate advice will come form your physician. Lexapro is escitalopram and Celexa is citalopram and as you see from these generic names they are similar but not the same. One difference is that Celexa is available in generic form and Lexapro is not which means theoretically generic Celexa (generic form) should be less costly. Lexapro and Celexa are not interchangeable, and they are not approved for all of the same uses. Both are approved for the treatment of depression.
Avatar f tn I know that withdrawing from opiates causes severe rls making it impossible to sleep. And when I withdrew from xanax quickly I also had the nausea, dizziness etc but the rls was the worst. Not sure about celexa but I'm sure its possible and very probable that the withdrawl is causing it.
Avatar n tn my doctor prescribed celexa 10 mg a day started for four weeks felt not so good on that and quit cold turkey now life is very hard. been vomitting hot and cold flashes anxiety like crazy. i only took celexa four weeks this is worse than opiate withdrawel. does anyone ou there think it takes more than three weeks to stop feeling effect of celexa because i really thing the opiates are out of my system?
Avatar f tn I have a very long time of opiate abuse, I also take celexa. I have been taking celexa for over 15 yrs now and I have found it to be the best antidepressant for me. I also take remron @ bedtime; I have allot of "issues" with family problems and sometimes my dr would up my celexa for 8 wks then go back to the normal dose. I now take 80mg celexa a day. Sounds like allot but I have no side effects from celexa. I believe it is the right choice for me.
Avatar f tn Also remember that it can take 4-6 weeks (if not even a bit longer) for the Celexa to really start making noticeable differences, and that is for someone who isn't going through opiate detox, so for you, it may take even a bit longer. As hard as it is, try to just stay patient and give this all some time. You're used to being "chemically" happy and content...it takes some time for the chemicals to normalize again.
Avatar f tn I have had several surgies including a partial mystecomy..bit in the face at my job by a german shephard and had to have plastic surgery.. 2 surgeries on my foot due to MRSA infection last year. Oh and I lost my job because of it! I'm taking Xanax (not by dr rx) and that helps alot. When I went to my dr a month ago he gave me celexa which isn't doing anything but making me nausious!! My nerves are shot and don't know how to get relief.
Avatar f tn but anyhoo, my doctor put me on celexa 40mg last week, i did that for 2 days and that was too much. so i called and asked if i could cut them in half and he said yes. well i still feel like that is too much. i am just really tired and dont have much desire to get out of bed. i am thinking i should cut the half in half. i only weigh 120lbs so i am thinking maybe i dont need such a high dose. does anyone have any experience with this. and by the way, i have never left this site.
Avatar f tn I'm 87 days clean from Opiates myself, and now I'm in the process of tapering from Ambien, which is also a member of the Benzo family of fine drugs. I unwittingly became addicted while on Opiates. The Vicodin was easy compared to getting off of the Benzo. It's a long, slow laborious process. I've been at it since mid March. It's a long slow taper. If I go too fast I get breathing difficulties, slow heart beat among other amazing symptoms.
Avatar f tn I also take a lot of unisom and bendyrl. I had to take pain management urine drug test and it tested positive for Barbiturates and they said my Soma didn't show up at all. What would cause this as I never take anything but what the doctor has prescribed me, and I ALWAYS take ALL of it like I'm suppose to.
Avatar f tn He has me on 4 different meds 2) anti depressants- cymbalta 20 mg and celexa 40 mg 1) mood stablizer- Geodon 100mg and 1) anti anxiety Klohipin 2mg 3 x day. Not t mention all the other medications I take. There is a web site google med interaction checker. The 4 meds he perscribes me interact with everything so I looked at the same kinds of meds just slight difference in them and the ones I chose didnt interact with anything severly.
Avatar m tn CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
5140021 tn?1364185966 I read a paper that Celexa helps vertigo. anyone experience this? I may have to get back on Celexa and not for Panic or Anxiety but for the vertigo that started 3 days ago.
1302779 tn?1287405029 hello all i have been on 40mg celexa and .05 klonopin for a few months now. I feel that the ssri doesnt relly touch the anxiety ,and without the klonopin i would still be anxious! Does anyone get anxiety relief from there ssri alone? i know many people take 2 or more meds and I just wanted to know if im on the right track. any input would be great!
Avatar f tn I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen. Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing! On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.
Avatar m tn At first, Celexa made me sleepy and relaxed. Believe me, this was a Good Thing! At last, I could sleep well! I cannot say that the drug itself decreased my PVCs--however, it DID decrease my awareness of them. Since their frequency was related to my anxiety and awareness of them (because of the effects of adrenaline), as I became less and less conscious of these sensations, the frequency of PVCs decreased dramatically. Trust your doctor and give this a try.
1166402 tn?1303847056 I just started 20 mg of generic Celexa (3 days ago) and the doc also gave me Ambien and Klonopin (take .25mg) to relieve the anxiety until the Celexa kicks in. I wake up shaky/hot and kind of panicky. Which drug is this from drugs, or is it still the anxiety. I know this takes time, but I don't want to mess with any drugs that might be making the symptoms worse (i.e Klonopin or Ambien). I also don't want to become dependent on the Klonopin and ambien either.
Avatar f tn I have a strict rule for myself and that is no sweets after 4pm and I try and have dinner before 5pm and exercise before bed. I know it is very hard to exercise with chronic pain and dieting is not an answer either as a healthy diet is the best option. Maybe a program like weight watchers may help. I know it helps me when I do it as I have someone else to "compete" with:) Having to weigh every week and having a goal also helps.
Avatar f tn MY QUESTION IS, IS IT SAFE TO ADD CELEXA TO MY MEDICATIONS (40) MG CELEXA 1 TIME A DAY? I ASK THE CLINIC, PHARMACIST AND PCP AND ALL 3 SAID I SHOULD DO OK BUT I WAS LOOKING FOR MORE LIKE:DEFENATELY I CAN TAKE THESE 3 MEDS TOGETHER. ANYONE CAN TELL ME IF THIS IS DEFINATELY OK??
Avatar f tn I started 5 mg Celexa 5 days ago and the doctor gave me .5 mg Ativan for just in case. My question is how long until the Celexa starts working? If I use the Ativan too often will it effect how the Celexa works? How hard are these to come off of?
808293 tn?1238602183 I've been on celexa for about 8 weeks now.... I was having trouble getting to sleep at first and still needed some occasional xanax to help my mind stop racing....i then found myself getting to sleep fine but waking up much earlier than normal...now, I am getting to sleep pretty easily and staying asleep. I think you probably need to give the celexa another couple of weeks and see if you have improvement.
Avatar n tn I still ahve anxiety, my doctor gave me Celexa which is okay, my question is, is it okay to take Xanax and Celexa together? I used to take Xanax too for panic attacks, and for now I know it will make me feel better. Does anyone know if they can be taken together? I have never been hooked on Xanax at all, so that is not a problem.
Avatar n tn t go back to him for three months. I would like to know how to tapper off the Celexa and with me getting off of that and with the help of my thyroid medication will I start to lose weight ( I have not lost ANYTHING since I started my thyroid medication and I am dieting and exercising!!). I go on vacation in two months I would love to lose at least 10pounds although, that isn't even close to what I need to lose. 1. how do i tapper off celexa 20mg 2. what would be my side effects 3.
Avatar n tn When that did nothing for the insomnia and resulting panic, I went to a regular doctor the next day and he prescribed Celexa and Klonopin. I did sleep last night, thankfully. My question now is, can I take one of these low dose Xanax today? I started the Celexa last night and took 1 mg Klonopin to sleep. I just want to feel normal again.
6693906 tn?1388804285 He has decided to gradually up the Celexa again and ween me off the Ativan. this is 3 days later and i am home from school with dizziness and nausea. From what I read that is normal withdrawal, and i'm certain it will pass. However, my question is if the Celexa was bad to bring up the first time, will it necessarily have the same result months later? If anyone has any information on this medication please help me, i'm a little worried!
Avatar f tn Fentanyl is an extreme opiate if I remember correctly and you quitting that CT will for sure give you some anxiety and depression even when taking the perks (IMO). I to suffer with anxiety and depression and have been on and off celexa for years while abusing perks 10mg as well. What I have done recently is quit the perks via suboxone, currently at 1mg dose from 6mg, started that about 2 weeks ago. Before that, about a week before, I started back on my celexa.
Avatar n tn I HAVE BEEN ON CELEXA FOR APPROX. 4 1/2 MONTHS AND HAVE GAINED 30 LBS. I AM HORRIFIED AND SO IS MY DOCTOR. I WANT TO DC USE OF; HE WANTS ME TO COME IN AND HAVE A SIT DOWN TALK. HE SAYS THAT NOT ENOUGH STUDY HAS BEEN DONE. I ALSO HAVE BEEN ANNOYED WITH SHORT TERM MEMORY PROBLEMS AND FEELTHIS IS CAUSING IT. MY SISTER IS TWO YEARS OLDER THEN ME AND IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. ANY COMMENT?
Avatar n tn 55am, I forgot I took the celexa and I took Cyclobenzaprine. Do you think is something I should be worry? I looked online about the drug interaction and they say could be deadly. I am very worry. Any advice of what I can do? Do I gonna be okay? How long apart I can take those two medications?
Avatar f tn I took it for about a week and figured the opiates were out of my system and I should not have withdrawal from tramadol from such a short time period. Boy was I wrong. The RLS, sneezing, pain and anxiety were much worse than opiates. It is actually what drove me to call my doc and get a refill of vicodin because I could not stand the feeling. Please let me know how you are doing.
