I WAS PRESCRIBED CELEXA TODAY AND I AM ON 45 MG DAILY AT METHADONE CLINIC. I ALSO TAKE KLONOPIN 1MG THREE TIMES DAILY. THE METHADONE MAINTENANCE DOCTOR PRESCRIBED THE KLONOPIN AND SAID I COULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 3 MG PER DAY.MY QUESTION IS, IS IT SAFE TO ADD CELEXA TO MY MEDICATIONS (40) MG CELEXA 1 TIME A DAY? I ASK THE CLINIC, PHARMACIST AND PCP AND ALL 3 SAID I SHOULD DO OK BUT I WAS LOOKING FOR MORE LIKE:DEFENATELY I CAN TAKE THESE 3 MEDS TOGETHER.
Hi and welcome to the forum....well I was on methadone for 6 1//2yrs and also have bipolar disorder so taking antidepressants was a fact of life for me...I had good luck with celexa will taking methadone...very little side effects mixing the 2 together but all antidepressant are not the same...I agree with mr lucky on asking your dr he/she
should at least know your on the methadone...
I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever used anti-depressants to help them cope with the depression that comes with and after methadone withdrawal. I'm having some depression problems today, day 8 with no methadone. I have some Celexa left over from a couple years ago. I took it for a few months after a very close friend died. The Celexa is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Anyone know anything about this? I'm tempted to take one of the antidepressants.
I am a 26 year old mother of two. I recently had my daughter five months ago. I was soon diagnosed with postpartum depression. I am on 4mg of celexa. I recently started messing with meth just so I could keep up. I would not say that I use it everyday, but, I am a frequent user. I know that mixing both messes with my seritonin. It takes me a week to get past the fatigue after I stop. I sometimes fall and get right where I need to be and use again.
I was on methadone for over 7 years, have been off since mid March and I have been sick, nauseated anxious and depressed ever since, I can't take it anymore. My doctor just put me on Celexa and it has only been 3 days and I am going out of my mind, my symptoms are magnified x 10! Don't know what to do, can't make it through the day barely! He said I may feel worse for a couple of days but this is unbelieveable. Please help.
I have chronic pain due to degenerative joint disease and fibromyalgia that all started after a near fatal auto accident. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone and I have gained over 30 lbs. Will a combination of these 2 meds cause you to gain wight? I weigh more than I ever have and more than I did when I had my son. I used to have a really high metabolism. I had a hard time gaining enough weight when I was pregnant.
i did try over n over for a year to go cold turkey on the percs, as i did manage to quit the alcohol n other occasional drugs i was taking when i didnt have oxy based drugs, i also turned into a very heavy smoker. so i went to dr and i was put on methadone, it took away all w/d for percs n oxyz, i startd 3 wks ago, at 30 dose, n went up to 50 dose, as i would wd the next day, but at the 50 dose(1 wk) i have no w/d.
CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen.
Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing!
On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.
At first, Celexa made me sleepy and relaxed. Believe me, this was a Good Thing! At last, I could sleep well!
I cannot say that the drug itself decreased my PVCs--however, it DID decrease my awareness of them.
Since their frequency was related to my anxiety and awareness of them (because of the effects of adrenaline), as I became less and less conscious of these sensations, the frequency of PVCs decreased dramatically.
Trust your doctor and give this a try.
I still ahve anxiety, my doctor gave me Celexa which is okay, my question is, is it okay to take Xanax and Celexa together? I used to take Xanax too for panic attacks, and for now I know it will make me feel better. Does anyone know if they can be taken together? I have never been hooked on Xanax at all, so that is not a problem.
t go back to him for three months. I would like to know how to tapper off the Celexa and with me getting off of that and with the help of my thyroid medication will I start to lose weight ( I have not lost ANYTHING since I started my thyroid medication and I am dieting and exercising!!). I go on vacation in two months I would love to lose at least 10pounds although, that isn't even close to what I need to lose.

HI everyone, well I have been on Celexa for 4 days now and I am so incredibly sick, just like I am in major withdrawal, I can't even explain how awful I feel. I have been told to ride it out and it will get better but I don't think I can hang in there that long. My symptoms are exacerbated 10 times over. It's the worst feeling ever!
When that did nothing for the insomnia and resulting panic, I went to a regular doctor the next day and he prescribed Celexa and Klonopin. I did sleep last night, thankfully.
My question now is, can I take one of these low dose Xanax today? I started the Celexa last night and took 1 mg Klonopin to sleep. I just want to feel normal again.
