Celebrex surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex surgery

celebrex

Avatar m tn I am undergoing a shoulder replacement, and one of the drugs he recommended is Celebrex, among many other drugs building up to surgery. I have had ulcerative colitis, and have had a total colectomy. I therefore do not have a colon or spline, but I know anti inflamatories do not agree with my gut. I am having surgery April 8, and quite frankly I don't know what to do. Can anyone help with suggestions?
Avatar n tn The surgeon takes me off any activity and back on celebrex to reduce the swelling. Why is it taking so long ? I was told i would be playin soccer again in 8 weeks at the longest. Anyone else have this experience? does it ever get better?
Avatar m tn Dear Doctor. Some days after start using Celebrex I noted a loss of vision in the central area of the vision in one eye. I cant read a letter that I was looking at, but I can see the letters in both sides of the letter I was looking. If I look with that eye to a white wall I can see a yellow circle sorrounding another smaller white circle.
Avatar m tn A two-week prophylactic course of Celebrex given before surgery and two weeks after surgery. Results showed measurably less adhesion development. Seems like good news right? No. The study was published jut before COX-II inhibitor meds like Celebrex came under fire in the press so doctors just stopped prescribing them and the study was lost in the storm of controversy.
Avatar dr m tn Remember the main reason I was so skeptical was that I had tried Celebrex PRIOR to surgery and it did nothing. But that physical problem and the pain was so intense NO NSAID was going to touch it. However for these little facets, I've found it pretty darn effective - so much so that I have canceled any more invasive work on the facets for now.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
1301089 tn?1290666571 After consulting with a Gastro Surgeon, they decided that it must be adhesions and surgery is called for. They are now on both sides of my ribs, level with my heart. I really don't want surgery. Laparoscopy is out of the question. It would have to be a full blown open surgery. I just can't do this again. I think I'll wait to see what my pain doctor can do. But I can't allow them to get to my heart. I really don't know what to do. Days like these, I wish I drank.
Avatar f tn My question is: Can seprafilm be used in laprascopic surgery......or only in open surgery? I have been suffering upper abdominal pain for the past 18 months and had my gallbladder removed laproscopically last Dec. My specialists are now thinking that scar tissue/adhesions are causing my diaphragm muscle to become inflamed and painful..... After doing research, it seems that only surgery could help this.......
Avatar f tn The dentist sent me back to the surgeon and they gave me a prescription for Celebrex. The Celebrex worked, I could open my mouth all the way and pain free, but only if I kept on taking it. I can't afford that, being a student, so I settled for taking an Aleve whenever the pain gets worse. Now there seems to be a nodule in the hollow of my jaw, just below the TMJ (again, left side only)/ I have pointed this bump out to clinic doctors, and no one gives it any credibility.
Avatar m tn I would agree that if you do opt for surgery over a change in activity, then resurfacing seems to be the way to go. Resurfacing uses less bone stock, seems less likely to loosen with repetitive activity such as athletics, and still allows for total hip replacement in the future, if needed. I amnot aware of any "alternative" treatments that could promise you as reliable or predictable results as a hip resurfacing.
Avatar n tn My husband had hip resurfacing in June 2008. Everything went great with the surgery and he progressed much faster than the doctor anticipated. On August 7, 2008 ( his third day back at work light duty) he was walking when his femur fractured, that evening he had a total hip replacement. He had more pain after the second surgery and muscle weakness, we were told it was because he had two surgeries in 7 weeks, Almost a year later he suffers from severe to mild pain even when sitting still.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar n tn I had gall bladder surgery a year ago, two days ago suddenly I had pains that were exactly the same as my gall bladder attacks I had had before the surgery-a very sharp pain between my ribs, right under my breasts. The pain then spreads to my back & is a continuous pain. it has lasted 48 hours now. Could this be pancreatitus?
Avatar f tn Up until February, I had been on opiates for a few years. Norco along with Celebrex and Robaxin (muscle relaxer). I had more side effects from all the NSAID's I was on before my insurance would finally approve Celebrex, than I did with the Norco. The only side effect I had with Norco was nausea with vomiting only when it got really bad. But that was only if I took it on an empty stomach. But the pain relief outweighed the nausea because I took an anti histamine to counter act it.
Avatar f tn m young and active and the leads would probably move. He then mentioned surgery. I was stunned because no one has ever said surgery was an option. But since I will probably never see him again I don't think it really matters what he suggested. He told me he wants to try to authorize Celebrex with my insurance again and when I asked about refilling the Norco he said "I thought that you were going to use Celebrex as pain medicine" I said uh no.
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar n tn I never had high blood sugar but recently after a 10 day course of celebrex for an inflamed shoulder muscle my fasting blood sugar shot up to 137. I read that celebrex has this side effect. Is it reversible?
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopy 11 months ago. Either it was as a direct result of this or during the surgery. I had a nerve block on May and then another in June via my spine. Been on amitripyline 25mg since Dec. my pain specialist said there isn't anything else he can do :( and gave me a prescription of Omeprazole with Celebrex. Unfortunately I suffered very bad side effects such as hallucinations (Omeprazole) and rash with both. So am still in a lot of pain and not sure what to do?
Avatar f tn My husband had C3-5 first then 6-7 to open his spine more and to correct what the first doc neglected to do but she won't admit he was negligent. From the first surgery my husband ended up with partial paralysis of his right arm. He is in constant pain but has been doing pretty good with the meds he's on now. The pain meds that truly work for him are highly addictive. I guess as with any of these kind as long as keep them refilled there's no problem.
Avatar f tn Trying a new drug for pain... Celebrex. I was on Diamox but could not tolerate it as it caused severe kidney PAIN. So, my PCP wants me to try Celebrex (3 days on, 3 days off). Anyone have any experience/knowledge of this med and, if so, how did you fare with it?
Avatar n tn And to my surprise Celebrex is a potential contributor to neuropathy. So i want to know, if any of you is suffering from neuropathic pain and are not diabetic and have used Celebrex for a long time? Until recently i was using Effexor and used it for 10 years, so i think the effexor was camouflaging my pain since they use it in neuropathy treatement. But, during the last year of using Effexor the pain got stronger, and now since i'm free of Effexor the pain is getting stronger.
Avatar f tn hi i have arthritis and i have had 4 joints totally replaced and i am only 35 with no kids. i am having so severe side effects from my med mainy celebrex i have had an heart test and was seen as early polarization , diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal reflux and have skin rash and legions . i am thinking of a claim against them . but in the main time i dont want my doctors to feel bad as they have been with me since my early twenties.
486512 tn?1208777187 Thanks for your reply. I won't know anything from the Rheumatoligist until May 23rd. I can't take Celebrex, or any other non-steriodal, because of previous stomach surgery. I've been on Darvocet for several years for arthritis and it doesn't help the pain very much anymore. I need something stronger but hesitate to go on anything else at this point because I don't want to become dependent.
968560 tn?1307451498 Ive tried steroid injections(some relief for a little while) 800mg motrin, celebrex.660mg celebrex, norco,tramadol.
