Celebrex and the elderly

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex and the elderly

celebrex

Avatar n tn Once your inflammation dissipates and you stop taking Celebrex everything should return to normal, that is, if you didn't have high morning glucose levels previously. IMHO.
Avatar n tn My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in .. They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Avatar n tn I took Celebrex for a year while I was on treatment this last time at the recommendation of Shands at the University of Florida. I made the decision to come off the Celebrex on my own because of all the black box warnings that came out regarding the heart while on Celebrex. I just came back from Shands on 7/21. I was up there for another evaluation after having relapsed for a second time.
Avatar m tn Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take.
548642 tn?1266179652 I take Celebrex and was in fact put on it by the h ead honcho at Shands at the university of Florida. I have RA and the mainstay drug for an RA flare is Prednisone. Since steroids are a big no no on treatment, Shands recommended that I go on Celebrex when I started this round of tx. I have Stage 3/4 liver damage. They must feel the benefits far outweigh the risks in my case.
Avatar f tn Hey Hopey. I was just prescribed Celebrex too!! I'm very anxious to see how well it helps b/c i have constant back pain and have tried several meds that haven't given ANY relief. I started the Celebrex today, 600 mgs. And will take 400 mgs/day after today. The dr DID say it can take a few days to start feeling relief from it.
Avatar m tn I had already experienced the side affects she was talking about. I promised not to take the celebrex again. Who would after you thought had the flu or were dying.
1831849 tn?1383228392 Let's see, I believe there are strict controls regulating the initial doses of Gilenya. Therapy is initiated in the physical presence of health care professionals who monitor heart rate for six hours because it is usual for the drug to cause a slow or irregular heart rate. True? So people with known heart problems are usually excluded as candidates for Gilenya. Right? And still we are supposed to be surprised when cardiac complications and death occur soon after starting this drug?
Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar f tn it feels like knifes or needles in my head and itried a heating pad to ease the pain and the sharp pain thats there it kepted me up all night,,, I tried inflammatory pill to get rid of the pain that didnt work....I mean i get these pains alot in my head... so i dont know if its stress or tension..or what but it hurts so bad i tried laying on a pillow to stop the pain..and if i pull my hair the sharp pain will be back if i touch it it will come back So do you have any idea what this is?
Avatar f tn I take celebrex and it seems to give me some relief.Because its an anti-inflammatory med, it could help a lot with swollen areas. Sometimes it's tough to tell when you are several different meds - which one helps the most? I've never had a bad reaction to celebrex and it's easier on the stomach than ones like naproxen - which caused an ulcer in lower esophogous. Hope and pray it gives you relief.
Avatar f tn The GI problems are the most common and the heart problems and rashes are listed as being in the category of SEVERE side effects of the med and if you experience any of them, to contact your doctor right away. The anemia could be a result of stomach bleeding, which is also listed as a possible side effect. I'm hoping that your doctors have already taken you off of the med, but if not, you may want to definitely consider asking them to do so based on your side effects.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem with my shoulder and did the steroid injection and am on celebrex. I completely understand your fears. I also didnt want to take the celebrex at first because of the scary side effects but in the end the benefits out weigh the risks. You need an antiinflammatory to speed the healing. It won't be needed long term.
Avatar f tn In 4 weeks you will be completely fit and the movement at the arm will not give you stiffness. Ice Packing is good for inflammation and you can use some anti inflammatory drugs. For promotion of healing avoid lifting of weights and any other job with your left hand. Eat balanced diet with more protein for a period of few weeks. Take care!
5986700 tn?1380791380 Hey Spidey!! During my MANY, MANY trials of non-narcotic meds, Celebrex is one of the meds I tried for my chronic pain. I thought I'd do great on it since my mom and one of my sisters both take it with no problems at ALL. (and they have been on it for YEARS). Well low and behold......"I" start getting chest pains and had shortness of breath issues. I got the paperwork back out....and yep....
1667344 tn?1303311751 200 mg can be taken 2 times a day but not at the same time, too hard on the stomache. And again contact your dr.
Avatar f tn Celebrex is a NSAID... for some it may be ok and others not..largely depends on the condition of your liver and other health factors that the prescribing doctor should be aware of ... here is a past discussion on pain meds. Avatar n tn One of my main complaints with the fibro is the debilitating fatigue. I try to plan doing something on weekend, and by the time the weekend comes, it's all I can do to do the laundry and groc shopping. Then sit the rest of the day doing nothing. I am on Lyrica for nerve pain, just quit Celebrex. I don't know what the lorect is. But I have many other pills I take. For muscle spasms, rapid heart rate, low dose aspirin, Tramadol for pain, etc.
Avatar f tn I went to a rheumatoid dr and she gave me other medications to take along with the naproxen to help alleviate the pain. Hope this helps and you're feeling better.
Avatar n tn ve been going through this for more than 5 monthes now , and yet no doctor could really solve the problem ,, i have a pain that started in the right side of my chest but then it starte to move toward the strnum area ... sometime it even goes to the nick ,, i had an ecg and blood tests and every thing simply turnd out to be ok ,, so am sure its not a heart problem ,, the kind of pain that i feel is more like staping with a knife sometime it get so strong that it desturb my sleep at night ...
Avatar n tn I have a fractured acetabulum, left and right fractures of superior pubic ramus, and inferior pubic ramus. I take Celebrex and 2-4 Tramadols to get through a day. I have a very physical job and have pain that worsens with walking and lifting. I especially have pain turning in bed( which results in lack of sleep) and stairsteps, bleachers,. This has been so long , I am beginning to think I will never get over this injury. Can anyone send me in a direction for recovery?
Avatar m tn I stoped to use Celebrex about a week ago but the only thing is happening is that the yellow circle is increasing size in the direction of the center of the white circle. Depending in the level of illumination and the angle I look to the wall, I can see a image of a small spot exactly in the center of the vision, that has the form of a bean, inside of what I can see a series of smaler spots of yelow color.
443898 tn?1229700080 Is there any way you can be over medicated with the enbrel and celebrex? For the fatigue I use vitamin B complex. This really helps me. Good luck and dont give up!
