Avatar f tn If your on a gd diet you just have to manage your protein and carbs. You can pop something in the oven and eat meat just watch the starch you pair with it. I usually eat a lot of meat since it's carb free to help feel me up and double up on veggies and keep my bread/rice/pasta/potatos/beans to very minimal.
212161 tn?1599427282 THe meal you report eating was extremely high in carbs. A Roll, Mac and cheese, fries and choc pudding. Essentially a huge amount of fat and carbohydrates. Many people would probably have high sugars on such a meal. You should be managing what you eat to keep your 2 hour post eating lower. You will have complications if your sugars are consistently higher than 140.
Avatar n tn My Dr put me on a 60 carb breakfast and 70 carbs for lunch and dinner. I'm also very active.
Avatar f tn Are you scared of carbs because of weight gain or you have like a phobia? If its due to the possibility of gaining weight, chill out babe. I went for a few years totally avoiding carbs and I lost weight! I ended up going through a bit of depression and started not caring about weight gain. Gained about 10 kilo's Now I'm on a diet and having some carbs. I feel much fuller and healthier for introducing it to my diet. I'm still losing weight. Slowly though because I am type 1 diabetic.
Avatar f tn Did this person tell you to cut all carbs, or just simple carbs? Vegetables are carbs. Fruit are carbs. Whole grains are carbs. Beans are a combination of protein and carbs. I think what most would advise is to avoid white flour, bagels, sweets, anything that turns to sugar quickly in your system. That's why you're craving sugar -- carbs are necessary for energy, and sugar is quick energy but also stores as fat if not burned immediately. Same with processed carbs.
Avatar f tn I agree that you should drop the pasta, rice and bread, unless they are whole grain. White rice, regular pasta and white bread are all considered simple carbs and are metabolized quickly. If not used through exercise right away, they turn to fat and are actually in the "junk food" category.
Avatar f tn They are everywhere and they are good for you, complex carbs.
Avatar m tn Breads and processed, pre-prepared foods have lots of simple carbs. One handy way to look at it is to avoid white foods like bread and potatoes. These can also lead to slower transit time which means a certain amount of constipation. Eat fruits earlier in the day and drink plenty of water to help that problem. Complex carbs take longer to break down into simple sugars. Examples are your green leafy veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, etc.

Avatar f tn How do you eat less carbs for breakfast? I can't seem to get away from bad carbs at breakfast.
Avatar f tn Every clinic can have different guidelines but my hospital breaks it down to breakfast and snacks carbs should be between 15 and 30 grams (no fruit at breakfast), lunch and dinner carbs should be higher than 45 g. Your starchy vegetables (potatoes, corn, and peas), all grains, all fruit, milk and yogurt count as carbs. Avoid fruit juices and sodas, not to mention candys, cakes, cookies....
Avatar f tn Yeah my consultant explained all that to me and gave me a pamphlet that basically said the same thing I guess I'm just having a hard time transferring it into my actual life. I'm hoping it gets easier since this is only day one, I just feel so overwhelmed by it..

Avatar f tn Honestly I don't believe cutting out carbs is the way to go. Yes too many carbs aren't a good thing, but cutting out all (considering nearly everything has some amount of carbs) isn't good either. Your body needs a balanced diet. This diet needs to be a complete revamp of what you would eat, not just a 6 week crash course. And in my limited experience, many of those cut out the (food item) kind of diets are only temporary.
1301482 tn?1325722991 There are 2 types of carbs; simple carbs, such as those found in sodas, things made with white refined sugar, flour, white rice, and even fruit. The other type of carb is the complex carb (otherwise known as dietary fiber), which is found in whole grains, veggies, seeds, nuts, etc. The simple carbs are broken down quickly and enter the blood stream as sugar, which if not used, is then stored as fat. Complex carbs/fiber are broken down slowly and keeps you feeling fuller longer.
7628588 tn?1392763151 flour, pasta, potatoes, sugar, rice, white bread, etc. Exercise! Help use up those latent carbs out of your system, and become a fat burning engine. Eat eggs, cheese, nuts, and meat. I eat about 30 pounds of shelled nuts annually; peanuts, walnuts, and lots and lots of almonds. Initially, it hurts a little. Your initially stomach aches from carbohydrate hunger. You will urinate copiously as your body wrings out every gram of carbohydrate it can use.
