Avatar f tn I just got some blood test readings back, and I wanted to see if there was anything that should concern me about my liver health or if it is all in my head from "googling" too much. I do drink daily, white wine generally, and I do not eat a "great diet" (definitely more carbs then protein), but I do try to drink enough water throughout the day and rarely drink without food in my stomach (as it is around dinner after work), and get a "green" with every meal.
212161 tn?1599427282 What jacked your glucose up to 169 mg/dl was white flour [burger bun], and fries [potatoes] and the pasta [high starch]. Avoid white foods, foods made with white flour, including potatoes and pasta. These are considered simple carbs, the sugars & starches in them are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. Complex carbs are slowly absorbed. Google search simple vs complex carbs and then read up on the GI [Glycemic Index] for diabetic nutrition suggestions.
Avatar f tn They are everywhere and they are good for you, complex carbs.
Avatar f tn How do you eat less carbs for breakfast? I can't seem to get away from bad carbs at breakfast.
Avatar f tn Fun right?!?! I was diagnosed about 6/7 weeks ago, i'm 32 weeks today. I'm diet controlled to this point, down from checking sugar 4 times a day to 2 because i've been controlled. I do oatmeal/eggs with veggies and toast/ or toast with pb for breakfast. I do a sandwich\leftovers from dinner\ or black bean burger for lunch. I take advantage of hubbies love for grilling and the nice weather. We grill almost every night... chicken/steak/hamburger/or brats.
Avatar m tn you need to severely restrict your carbs for now (1 whole wheat bun is too much). Don't eat low fat foods. The fat is very important to help slow down the digestion of carbohydrates. Also the reduced carb calories need to be replaced by fat calories. Don't restrict protein. Glad you'll be seeing the dr on Monday. look forward to hearing your update.
Avatar f tn LOTS of Water & carbs unfortunately :( dinner rolls, cake, bread, hunny bun, I just want it
Avatar n tn The Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones personal meals work well for me. While they have approximately the same amount of carbs the fat content is really low (which makes my bloodsugar levels easier to control since the carbs are being released quickly-like normal- and not being released over a long period of time...this makes it substantially easier to control my bg). Also stay away from Bird's Eye because that brand has an astronomical amount of carbs and fat (depending on which dish you buy).
Avatar f tn Now im 16 weeks with my 4th. The diet isnt bad. 60 or less carbs per meal 3 meals a day and 3 snacks at 15 carbs. You can eat almost all the same stuff you eat now with minimal change. Like burgers, just take off the top part of the bun. They're are tons of tricks you can do to still eat what you're eating.
Avatar n tn It is normally removed from your blood by your kidneys, but when kidney function slows down, the BUN level rises. BUN can also rise if you eat more protein, and it can fall if you eat less protein. So, perhaps he has kidney disease but am not sure protein is involved in this situation.
Monster I eat hi carb foods, or low carb foods, and my blood sugar does not come down when I eat the low carbs, it stays in the 130-140 range even then. I eat whole wheat bread, and sometimes do go to hi carb foods, and then it peaks up in the hi 160's. I am on Trajenta, have lost 19 lbs, and walk 3-4 times a week. Recently I had two injections of steroids, but it was two weeks ago, so I doubt that is the cause.
Avatar m tn Definitely try and cut out white breads/pasta/sugary snacks. I was amazed how the brain fog lifted as soon as I did. It probably took two days to lift, but I feel 100% better. I still gets carbs from fruits mainly, (frozen grapes taste like candy)... But feel soooo much better. I still eat a burger or something once in a while, but usually only eat the top bun.. So a little carbs don't bring the fog back.
594189 tn?1386916607 Simple carbs are those that are the most refined and many tend to be made from white flour and/or sugar, which would include candies, cookies, white bread, pasta, white rice, etc. White potatoes are also often considered simple carbs, but should not be left out of a healthy diet because they have lots of vitamins/minerals (potassium in particular).
Avatar n tn I take AM and PM Lantus. Just started on Actos 15mg. I've started reducing my simple carbohydrates a lot. Cereals, Breads, Potatoes, Rice, high carb. veggies. Substituting low carb veggies, low carb fruits, avocadoes. In 2 weeks I've reduced night time Lantus from 25U to 10 U and BS in AM 90- low 100's. Yesterday enjoyed burger with L&T,onion, mayo on lettuce with no bun.. Today I made unbreaded baked zucchini with tomato sauce and mozz. cheese. I'm also exercising more.

644592 tn?1226588817 A balance is good but ultimately it is lower calories that result in weight loss. We do recommend limiting your intake of white carbs and instead eating complex carbs such as whole grain bread products and cereals, beans, legumes and vegetables. Stick with us. There are some challenges coming up and we offer great support. The weight and exercise tracker really help you stay on track.
Male Congratulations on the 45 lbs weight loss. Did you have trouble controlling your appetite on that small amount of food? I have recently been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, which could turn into full blown type II diabetes. I'm on a mission to lose about 23 lbs and so far, it's not going very well. You have to maintain your diet, in order to keep the weight off and to maintain your blood sugar levels. Carbs under 40 sounds extremely restrictive.
Avatar n tn ll need to eat more fat and protein along with whole grain slowly digestible carbs. Avoid highly process carbs and cakes, candies, cookies - things which break down easily and will raise your sugar.. Make sure you put fat with your carbs as it also slows down the absorption. Use natural fats as much as possible. Ie butter or cream in your potatoes, cream in your coffee. Do not use low fat foods. Regular fat cheese and yogurt, etc. Eat the fat from your meats.
Avatar m tn The best thing to do is ask the doctor that ordered the urinalysis. The presence of calcium oxalate happens in healthy, normal individuals. So, just learning that you have it present does not mean much. If it is a problem level, your doctor should tell you. Stones forming are the concern if you have too much and simple things like drinking plenty of water helps. You had your BUN done which gives an idea of how your kidneys and liver are working.
349463 tn?1333571576 espcially the plain flour, white flour..bread, white rice.
Avatar n tn I gave a comment here and the post shows I commented but I don't see it. Maybe it will show up some day but the website seems to be having a host of problems. Basically, carbs aren't all created equal, and calories are not your best source of tracking weight. Calories are one factor, but how well and how quickly you metabolize your food into sugar for energy is more determinative, as foods that turn quickly into sugar have to be burned off quickly or they store quickly as fat.
Avatar f tn Did this person tell you to cut all carbs, or just simple carbs? Vegetables are carbs. Fruit are carbs. Whole grains are carbs. Beans are a combination of protein and carbs. I think what most would advise is to avoid white flour, bagels, sweets, anything that turns to sugar quickly in your system. That's why you're craving sugar -- carbs are necessary for energy, and sugar is quick energy but also stores as fat if not burned immediately. Same with processed carbs.
Avatar n tn Google Glycemic Index [GI] and understand the difference between good carbs [complex] and bad carbs [simple]. Carbohydrates [simple carbs] that break down quickly during digestion and release sugar rapidly into the bloodstream have a high GI; carbohydrates that break down more slowly, releasing sugar more gradually into the bloodstream, have a low GI. As asok mentioned, watch the carbs. Carbs are wreak havoc to a t2 diabetics glucose level. 2.
Avatar f tn Icy sweet things too, like slurpees. Pickles, carbs, fruit. But sloppy joes do sound good.
