Avatar m tn Good question. I am a red wine drinker and there are minute amounts of protein and only 1% carbs. No fats. I'd like to know too!
93532 tn?1349370450 This is too funny! This is my choice wine when I'm entertaining cause I can drink it all day long and it isn't too strong, tastes good, look sparkling pretty in my glass, is cheap hee hee, and takes the edge off the nerves of preparing and entertaining. Good analogy LOL on the adult version of boone's farm .. geez, that brings back memories when drinking age was 18 in the US. (oops, dating myself here).
1211508 tn?1343079605 Could this be causing an increase in my overall blood sugar? I thought wine was actually beneficial in preventing diabetes. Confused... 3- Are those home, battery operated monitors reliable/accurate? More info: I'm 40, in shape, exercise a lot and I try to watch what I eat.
Avatar f tn s just been holding an increase of about 2 lbs and I dont know where it came from, or how to lose it. I dont eat alot of carbs, I cut back even MORE on drinking wine, and still cannot lose it, I am so frustrated. I eat 3 meals a day, this is a typical day: breakfast: bowl of kashi w/fruit OR hot multigrain cereal lunch: yogurt w/fruit and almonds mixed in, special K crackers, OR protein w/veggies; later in the day a piece of fruit .
Avatar m tn Thanks for the comments. However, Carbs can't be it. I avoid sugar like the plague (diabetes runs in the family) and carbs (weight) except for the aforementioned glass of wine a day. When I do drink a soda (which is rare) they are diet. Sugars are generally from natural sources (fruit every day). Yes, there might be the occassional lapse (maybe a pizza once a month), but no regular high carb intake. Interesting about the Ezetimibe.
Avatar n tn You will manage to stay away from consuming too much simple carbs, products with yeast (Wine, Beer) even synthetic sugar substitutes – if you are lucky, disciplined, and eager to take control of your life. Only after medication and recovery that probiotics supplements may work - only then populating your intestines with beneficial bacteria may work. Study Candida if you have white mucus in your stool.
Avatar m tn Why my triglycerides is so high (460) and I dont drink sugary drinks at all, I dont eat cakes, cookies, or any processed foods and dont drink sodas and not even carbonated drink. I do drink coconut water during my exercise instead of gatorade. I drink 2 glasses of wine occasionally, dont like beer that much and I dont drink alcohol every week. I have followed everything that should reduce my triglyceride level but no luck. My Cholesterol is in borderline but manageable.
193609 tn?1292180293 Losing weight is really just a simple math equation and comes down to calories in vs calories out. In order to lose weight, you have to burn more than you consume. People lose weight on low carb diets because whether or not they realize it, they're consuming less calories. High carb foods (cereal, potatoes, rice, pasta, sugary snacks) tend to be quite calorie dense so a very modest portion can end up being pretty caloric.
Avatar f tn Whole grain cereal Fruit and yogurt Whole grain toast with peanut butter, fruit Hard boiled egg As long as you stay with complex carbs, which are those in whole grains, veggies, fruits, such as apples pears, etc.you should be okay. The complex carbs are the ones that provide fiber to keep you feeling fuller longer. Also be sure to get plenty of protein with every meal. Eggs and whole grains are excellent sources of protein, as is dairy.
Avatar n tn There is NO ideal carb count. Each of us is different. How many carbs you can handle without having your BG go too high (140 in the USA) is different than it is for me (I eat under 50gr a day). Google "eat to your meter" that will tell you haw many carbs YOU can eat.
Avatar f tn Carbs are in bread, pasta, veggies, etc. They are everywhere and they are good for you, complex carbs.
86075 tn?1238115091 I have a hard time beliving its the carbs that caused the rise in alts, before treatment i was having my alts checked on a regular basis, after 1 month on the atkins diet my alts rose from the 50s to the 120s the highst they ever were, and it took a few months to get them back in the 50s,I truly belive the almost all meat , fat diet caused the rise...
Avatar m tn There has been talk in the news recently that one to two glasses of red wine per day can be somewhat helpful in keeping the blood sugars level down. Is there any truth to this? I’d appreciate all feedback.
Avatar f tn I'm waiting for my appetite to return. I don't take pleasure in eating anything. In fact the things i loved before pregnancy I can't stand now. I pretty much eat to provide nutrients for the baby. I'm almost in my second trimester so I hope it changes soon. I miss eating. :-).
Avatar f tn Two glasses of red wine a day increases cancer risk. In this light, I’d recommend having a glass of red wine no more than 2 or 3 times per week. Wine and other alcoholic beverages also cause triglyceride counts to climb. Oatmeal, oat bran, and other whole grain products can help with a small reduction, about 5 percent, in total cholesterol. I like Krill oil Just look that it has total Phospholipids 420, total MG per serving 300, at least 160 mg EPA and 90 mg DHA and 1 1/2 mg of Astaxanthin.
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar f tn But I eat nuts, meats, eggs, avocado, all vegeteables except corn and potatoes, dairy. I do drink wine in moderation. I am doing fine and feeling great on this diet. I would normally eat about 50 - 70 g of carbs per day. My blood sugars can be well controlled on this diet, without medication. In high glycaemic index foods, the carbohydrates are broken down very quickly, and have bigger impact on blood sugar than lower GI foods. Ie. beans and bagel.
Avatar f tn Watch your carbs - barley, hops - but definitely less of a sugar spike for your pancreas than a sweet soda or fruit juice. Rule of thumb, I'd probably treat it like Tylenol or paracet' - one or two shouldn't make a difference one way or the other, but some kind of soda water or plain water is even better.
Avatar n tn My liver function tests were all normal. But when I look at my diet, it is probably low in carbs. I drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of nuts and vegetables, but I don't really eat many carbs and I eat very little meat. I've always been concerned about getting enough protein, calcium and vitamins, but never worried about carbs. With normal liver function test results, could my low-carb diet still be hindering the T4-to-T3 conversion?
Avatar n tn I was told by my diabetec counselor that for every beer I drink I should eat as well with it as the alcohol lowers your sugar regardless of the carbs in beer , so say coors light beer has 15 carbs in it and instead of taking insulin to drink it you do the opposite, you should eat something worth around the same carb count as the beer your drinking therefore off setting each other hope this helps
Avatar f tn From what I've read here and other places alcohol is alcohol and no matter what form it can be just as bad. I guess it goes down to the amount of alcohol proof in the drink. If you're drinking enough beers to equal the amount in wine, you'd still be getting the same amount, probably with added carbs...It would be equally as damaging. I'm sure people on this forum who have experiance can give you more advice and support.
Avatar f tn Iv been off late been craving a glass of wine. N iv been told to stay away from ALL drinks. But im so craving.. god!!
