451075 tn?1210258648 Yes, it's totally safe. I have used low-carb diet for long time. I eat alot of protein (all meat and fish (as long as it is fresh and un-contamintated), cheeses and eggs). It's known now that eggs do not have this bad influence on cholesterol as thought before. It's also known that fat doesn't make you fat. So, I never look at calories, I only look at carbohydrates. Besides the protein I eat alot of vegetable (except high carb veggies like carrots, borccoly etc).

Avatar n tn for something sensible like a day or two of meal plans. The big thing is carbohydrate counting so get a carb book. If he takes Humalog insulin, dose would be 1 unit per 10 grams carb. If not, you must watch the simple sugars carefully. Small amounts of fruit are okay and larger amounts can be tolerated after eating protein.

Add strength training in the evening & your BG could see am improvement in the morning. Also adjust your diet based on your numbers. Remove refined sugars & high carb foods. Switch to lower carb options. I've been eating Tomaro low carb wraps for breakfast instead of bread.

Avatar n tn I eat under 50gr of carbs a day. Reasonable or not depends on who you ask. We do know carbs are what your body turns to Blood Glucose (BG). Dont confuse the carb with the stuff its mixed with, vitamins, minerals. All those are available in other foods without the carbs.

I am back on low carb just to try and take care some of the bloating I have trouble with. I figured out if I give my injection in my leg rather than my stomach it helps some. Anyway, I woke up this morning with a splitting headache that, while it has gone down in severity, is still very much there. I'm sticking to the vegetables and everything since I know you're supposed to get a small amount of carbs from them. But certainly not the same amount by any stretch as I have been in the past.
