973741 tn?1342342773 This is so rich and satisfying that just 1 piece is usually enough. There are plenty of great recipes for low carb foods these days. For example, instead of having spaghetti and meat sauce, I have spiralized zucchini with meat sauce. My kids don't like zucchini, but they sure like "green spaghetti"; and sometimes we make orange spaghetti by spiralizing carrots. :) I have been eating low carb (more or less strictly) for the past 10 years.
1756367 tn?1400884364 The Atkins diet is just one example of a low carb diet. It is perhaps the best known because it is the first low carb diet that caused a media sensation in the 1970s and 80s. Against popular medical advice that stated that we should cut fats and proteins, Atkins advocated a diet rich with proteins and fats and very few carbs. There are now many other popular low carb diets available - many are very similar to Atkins.

Avatar f tn I want to eat food that is good for me and baby, but the thought of my go to health food (things like broccoli, which usually I love) make me feel even more nauseated. Nachos? Other carb rich foods? Bring em on! It feels like unhealthy food is the only appealing choice. I think it's because they're comfort foods and I feel crummy.
Avatar f tn It would help if I had a list of foods to go grocery shopping for, and what I could or couldn't eat.
Avatar f tn Carbohydrates break down into sugars easily, so healthy carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes such as beans and peas and low-fat dairy products should constitute the majority of this food group. Fiber-rich foods such as vegetables, nuts, legumes and whole grain products help to control blood sugar levels and are excellent choices as part of a diabbetic diet. Fish are a good source of protein and a healthy alternative to higher-fat options such as red meat.
Avatar f tn Actually, most foods bother me. I've gotten rid of all processed foods from my diet as well as caffeine and sweets. I'm eating basic, fresh, organic food. I've tried keeping a food diary but it's been really inconsistant (sometimes chicken makes me sick, sometimes it doesn't). It's pretty much this way with most foods. However, it does seem that iodine rich, spicy and salty foods make it worse.

Avatar f tn The December 2010 issue of “Science” reported experiments designed to decrease response to certain types of foods. People who repeatedly imagined eating a particular food ate less of it. The researchers theorize that the act of mental imagery decreased the subjects’ responsiveness to the food and decreased desire to eat it even though they still considered the food palatable.
Avatar f tn I love spicy food and continue to eat it (I am pregnant) I was reading some very interesting research about trying different foods and how it's healthy for the baby (except for food that's been put off the table like fish rich in mercury, raw eggs etc we have to stay away from the unsafe food during pregnancy) but other than that if ur tummy can handle it by all means eat spicy :) but make sure u are eating all the nutrients and minerals necessary as well.
Avatar f tn t think you have to cut out ALL other foods, just try to avoid anything real rich or sugary, or heavy with fats or carb-loaded. Hopefully that helps. I of course, don't know your medical background, so can't answer 100% what would be safe for you, given your history. BUT. Maybe put a call in to the nurse who works with your family doctor and ask her to help you decide what would be safe for you personally. Feel better soon.

Avatar f tn The paleo diet is the healthiest form of low-carb diet, IMO. I would not go on a low-carb diet that was composed of low-carb junk food. If you eat a paleo diet, you are only eating real, whole foods (no junk food) and no grains. It's a lot of meat, vegetables, and healthy fats.
