1533382 tn?1357962152 I test first thing in the morning to see hat my levels are, then I eat breakfast and I test 2 hours after the start of any meal. I've bought everything according to what I can eat with the diet they've put me on. Like I said, the diet they have me on has me counting carbs. So for breakfast Im allowed about 15-30 carbs (1-2 carb choices) and I get the same amount for my 2 snacks between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner.
Avatar f tn It is ph, that's why Apple cider vinegar is effective against it, but it is also too many sugars. Sugar feeds candida so whether it's a complex carb, a simple sugar, or fruit, you are feeding the yeast in your body. To keep it under control you need to limit sugar intake and make sure you are feeding the good flora in your body (probiotic).
636891 tn?1365202536 I'm on Metformin for appetite control. I've been able to control my diabetes for four year's with diet alone. A1C is 5.7 and has been 5.4 to 5.7 for four year's. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2004. I guess I'm just lucky to be able to control it. I eat cheerio's with a light yogurt in the morning and it seems to keep me stable until about noon.
11634465 tn?1421827735 m seeking a really good support group for some advice as my type 2 diabetes is totally out of control. I recently made a decision to start eating healthier and exercising more as much as I can. I suffer from diabetic Nueropathy and it's very painful at times and makes exercise a very difficult task. But I'm trying.
Avatar n tn (with exercise) if you cant or dont want to restrict your carbs sufficient to control your BG then you need to increase the drugs you take to control your BG. I eat about 50gr of carbs a day and that is with insulin.
Avatar n tn You could blitz soft fruit with yogurt, that way you get all the fibre as well as the juice and protein from the yogurt. You can buy zero fat natural yogurt and the Greek style ones are great. If you juice your veg, by extracting the juice and throwing away the fibre, that is not good. Better to blitz the whole carrot, or better still make soup and add some lentils, all sorts of veg and bits of lean chicken or lean spare ribs. Yummy.
Avatar n tn I've got this same issue. I absolutely have an increase interest in all things sugar when in the throws of PMS. I actually know I am starting my period the day I do because the craving disappears. Weird. As I've gotten older, I kind of just go with it and find things to substitute. I'll eat a yogurt, make a glass of chocolate milk with an extra spoonful of nesquik in it (the milk is healthy, right?), eat a frozen yogurt, etc.
594189 tn?1386916607 Is 100% whole wheat bread a simple carb? Is milk a simple carb? or is it only white bread and pasta's?
Avatar f tn Eating healthy, drinking lots of water, and wearing breathable(preferably cotton) underwear helps. I've never heard of using Greek yogurt, always been told plain, unflavored yogurt, so that may make a difference, but I'm not sure. Watch your carb and sweets intake. Check with the doc for sure. He may rather just prescribe you something instead of trying to take care of it yourself.
Avatar f tn Eat 3 healthy meals a day - breakfast, lunch and evening meal, but also have a healthy snack in between. A healthy snack can be an apple, a yogurt, celery with peanut butter, a small banana, a handful of grapes. If you follow the healthy eating plan and only have a small sweet treat or a piece of cake occasionally you will be fine. Doing some form of exercise whatever you choose, even walking is fine, will also help to control your sugar levels.
Avatar f tn I got diagnosed with gd. The nurse said start your day with protein, but also 45g of carbs. Eggs, meat, yogurt, etc. No bagels, waffles, pancakes before noon. Diet drinks or water. Fruits with skin. I have a whole list of do's & don't's.
Avatar f tn Low blood sugar and low serotonin levels can both cause food cravings. Serotonin is a hormone in the brain that helps make you feel good. When it is low, sadness or depression may result. Eating sugar or other simple carbohydrates helps temporarily because they stimulate serotonin release. If you are insulin resistant your body is still making insulin but the cells do not respond to it you may also develop persistent food cravings.
2094297 tn?1345389093 Cannot seem to control blood sugars, recently finished hep c tx succesfully, although still have cirrohsis but I am doing massive amounts of insulin novilin 70/30 injections (about 135 units daily) and feel real crappy as I seem to rollercoaster all over the place, any help out there. p.s. tried lantus and it worked for awhile, then did the rapid at all meals, tried both at same time, and just swithced to the 70/30 about a week or so ago.
Avatar m tn Kind of a bummer if someone goes intentionally low carb to control their blood sugar. Better to have a low carb, moderate protein and high fat meal (like non starchy veg sautéed in butter with steak), as this fills you up cancelling hunger quickly, while delivering great nutrition without blood sugar spikes.
1301482 tn?1325722991 Who has done a low carb diet that worked well? Can you give me any tips for low carb snacks/meals?
Avatar f tn your numbers too high (way too high) its NOT sugar its CARBOHYDRATES that raise BG (sugar is a carb) so is wheat, rice, potato, pasta and yes sugar. fasting fasting over night, could be in the AM you are getting DP (Down Phenomenon) your body getting ready for the day and your liver lets loose with glucose (you dont need it but your liver does it anyways) Then going without eating can raise BG more because your starving and again your liver says lets put out some glucose.
Avatar n tn What I am wondering is what kind of diabetic am I if insulin and oral meds are not bringing my levels under control? My diet if anything is not eating enough. I have been trying to eat like they tell me but I often don't want to eatevery 2 hours. No appetite? I like to eat when I am hungry. And I don't do the soda pop high carb thing. I eat very reasonable. I am also hypothyroid and have had a heart attack (reason?) with prehypertension and high cholesterol levels.
Avatar f tn hello, if you are wanting to have a successful pregnancy the most important thing you can do is to have excellent blood sugar control. Ideally your Hba1c will be < 6.0. This can be done by carefully adjusting your insulin doses and combine with eating a low carb diet (the low carb will reduce your insulin requirements and thus also protect you from going too low or high). I recommend the book diabetes solutions by Dr. Richard Bernstein.
Avatar f tn Hi, do your friends know you're trying to lose weight? You could try asking them not to eat sweets and chocolate when you're around, or keep a healthy treat for yourself in your bag which you can have when they are eating, eg nuts or a piece of fruit. I know it's not the same as chocolate, but it might help you feel like you're not missing out. What about getting them to join you in eating healthily, perhaps suggesting some healthy snacks you can all enjoy?
Avatar f tn Many salad dressings contain large amounts of sugar, most are listed under carbohydrates in grams. Every 7 grams equals one heaping tablespoon of sugar. Although Greek yogurt is low in carbs, carb sugars can average 5 grams per serving [2/3 cup]. However, if you consume yogurt as part of your pre-workout regimen you may be able to burn of the carbs and sugar as energy. The only way to know is by testing after your post exercise rest down period. You do have a home glucose test meter, right?
