can i break pristiq in half

Well I was on celexa then switched to zoloft then switched to pristiq...all in a time frame of a year and half. I been taking the pristiq 3 weeks now went on it straight from zoloft. I was taking it for anxiety/panic. I did a good tapering plan I am doing it very slowly now. i tried doing it cold turkey and I thought my life was over. I spoke with the doctor and said ti was ok to do it that way. I just am so afraid whenever I stop to feel this way!

I would like to know what to expect because I tend to panic when I experience any changes in my health. I have also been suffering from allergies for a week and a half and wonder if this will have any effects on the switch.

I kept feeling like I had electrical shocks going through my body, and like I was in a trance half the time. Maybe you need to taper more slowly? I think one of the times I did take an extra pill (while tapering) and it helped a lot.

I take half of a tablet of klonopin in the morning and another half later in the day like @ 7 p.m....and then I take 2 pristiq pills at night be4 I sleep....so ever since christmas I haven't taken pristiq cuz my insurance doesn't cover it..

What we did was open the capsule and take less and less each day until we only took a few beads and then we were off. If it is a pill break it in half and take that a few days, then a quarter and so on. Of course, I am NOT a dr...

It can wear you down a lot. Bring on things like derealization. Were things can become a blur. Like on the verge of passing out, were things start to go distant, but you never pass out. You just stay in that state. That can zap the energy out of you big time. But over time auch things do pass. I think the more you understand anxiety the less you think about it. It just stops. Symptoms come and go. They change all the time. Lord only know how many various symptoms I have had over the years.

I have been on 50 mg of pristiq for a year and a half...I am now on day 2 of 100mgs and find myself terribly anxious, trembling, feeling very bad compared to when I started 50 mgs...does anyone have any experience with upping this medicine?

Check with your psychiatrist and make sure. I've had hypertension since I was 40, scared me half to death. But I finally got in shape, lost almost 50 lbs., eat healthy, learned to not worry so much and my doctor feels I can go off my medication which I was only taking a 1/4 of for a year now. So, if yours isn't bad maybe some life style changes will help. Don't stress out over it, it's very controllable. Take care...

I went to my psychiatrist today and told him of my episode of missing effexor dose and he said that it was from the effexor, I was just 7 hours late and wound up in ER from symtoms listed in my first post. So he wants me to switch to pristiq, which I have never taken. I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs.

I am a 35 year old male with Anxiety and Depression. I was diagnosed a year and a half ago but have probably had this condition most of my adult life. I started having panic attacks in the winter of 2008. I went to the emergency room several times before I was diagnosed with a panic disorder. I was prescribed Valium for a short period of time but it didnt really work for me. So in the spring of 2008 I decided to make changes in my life.

The bizaare side effect I now have is like a psychotic break. I cant talk because I cannot remember what I have said sentence to sentence. I become aware that I am rambling to the poor other person. I dont even remember what i have just said. Its like I have been dreaming and come awake. I even have opened my eyes and seen my hands moving doing whatever dream I am into. So now the big question I was on Prozac, the highest dose for 30 years.

Well he will want me to come in and I cant afford that right now... its $300 a visit and I can only afford it once a month!! I just wish I didn't have to deal with this and I wish I could find a good Dr!!!

Being on Pristiq and Zyprexa has kept my depression in check, but I have low energy and no motivation to do anything. Any ideas as to how to get my energy and motivation back?

on Monday,Sept 5th had an appoitment with Psychiatrist, and after i explained her my symptons,( i also cried,was overwhelmed) she said I had a severe depression, so she also prescribed me Pristiq 50mg one tablet per day in the morning after breakfast. I never took the Pristiq i am scared of the side effects,So all this time since September 3rd until ,now October 13th, I've been only on Clonazepan,I am scared of becoming an addict as I have read these pills tend to be addictive.

I have been trying to quite by either cold turkey or taking one in morning then one in afternoon. but i always end up back to taking 2 in morning. I have cut down in the afternoon tho. I have been experiencing some itching and hives with cold sweats.Does that sound right.I also am going threw metapouse. I am on 50mg aday of Pristig. I am not sure if thats giving me some side effects.

I have tried many multi-vitamins in the past and always find that something within them makes my stomach upset. Not sure if it is the iron or zinc but when i take the vitamins like B,C, D and Omegas I feel ok.

I have been through every ssri in the past 20 years. I am now on pristiq 75mg and lamictal 300 mg in addition to Ativan as needed. My anxiety is coming back unfortunately. My psychiatrist wants me to take gabapentin. It seems like she is just guessing at this point. Any suggestions? I know we are not doctors but I figure someone may be going through something similar. I am getting off Pristiq! In 2 months have gained 10 pounds, the last 3 weeks, I have awful shoulder, lower back pain and leg pain. Now I am so irratible I feel I am going jump out of my own skin! Does anyone know of any anti-depressants , don't make you fat and irratible! And Sore all over?

So, my dr just doubled my dosage of 50mg of pristiq to 100 two days ago. Now i feel numb, foggy, and like half of my memory is gone. Is this normal? Now he wants to add the Saraquol. Im really kind of nervious, i'm already super tired, with no motivation, and this new stuff is supposed to make me sleep more. I just feel like i'm being thrown in a hole. Can anyone help explain these medications to me? And why i feel this way? I just feel so sleepy and depressed.

My new doctor said they were the same thing and that I should drop Pristiq, which I did for a while with awful results. I went back to the doctor and explained what had been happening since I went off of it. He immediately put me back on it and said that since it was working for me, he could find no research that said that it should not be done, just that it normally wasn't.

I've been on provigil for a year and a half now- as needed (my job requires shift work). I also take pristiq for anxiety in which I've had for many years. I felt great, I lost 72 lbs in about a year and a half ( I was overweight, so they weight loss was great, I felt so much better in so many ways), and my sex life was wonderful. Well we are to the 7 year mark, and it just seems it isn't working anymore. I have gained 50 of the 72 lbs back, and my sex drive has left the building.
