I was on paxil a few months ago which wasn't really doing much for me so my doctor got to to cut down and go on to pristiq, while I was cutting down the paxil my partner and I decided to TTC, I ask the doctor if I should still start pristiq but she told me not to as Pristiq is harmful during pregnancy. However it may be more harmful for you to stop taking it, especially if it will mess with your head whether your taking it for anxiety or depression.

Tried to give me Seraquel but when I explained it made me horribly sick and unable to function he told me to just cut it in half and try that. I want to see if anyone has had sucess with a medication. Tired of feeling like I can't make it anymore. Thanks everyone for taking time to read this.

Another person that might be able to help you with this is your pharmacist. Not so much as far as the tapering but they can tell you if these pills can be cut in half.

I have called him twice, still no call back. I told myself at 30 days to cut the .5 in half in the am, and 1.5 mg of alprazolam at bed and after that nothing in the day, 1 mg at bed. After that lowering my alprazolam every 30 days by .25 leading to no drugs at all. Have you heard of anxiety patients having such a hard time with Pristiq and drugs like it?

They are almost the same drug. Pristiq is Effexor with some of it cut out. That supposedly makes it have fewer side effects and be a little easier to stop taking, but that usually doesn't turn out to be all that true. The same was done with Celexa to create Lexapro. That makes the change pretty easy. But they can feel quite different in how they effect you, even though they are quite similar, so be on the alert for that.

I have been on Pristiq for anxiety for 4 days and my Dr said to cut the pill in half bcus im so sensitive to meds. My question is that I looked on the Pristic website and it says it's for depression and im dealing with panic and agoraphobia. My question is will this help even tho its just for depression? I know it sounds daft but he was told to try and eat a small handful of brazil nuts throughout the day they are a brill form of iron and they did seem to help. Hang in there you are doing really well. I wish you all the best for rest of tx.

I have been on 50 mg of pristiq for a year and a half...I am now on day 2 of 100mgs and find myself terribly anxious, trembling, feeling very bad compared to when I started 50 mgs...does anyone have any experience with upping this medicine?

m assuming that you have a competent psychiatrist, who has placed you on Pristiq and told you to reduce your dosage of Klonopin without a gradual reduction, for a particular reason(s). Don't overthink everything, just follow the advice of your provider. I went to my psychiatrist today and told him of my episode of missing effexor dose and he said that it was from the effexor, I was just 7 hours late and wound up in ER from symtoms listed in my first post. So he wants me to switch to pristiq, which I have never taken. I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs.

Can pristiq cause a normal blood pressure to go up extremely high?I was taking Savella 50mgs twice daily and blood pressure went to 180/100.Stopped it and went on Pristiq 50mgs once daily.Went to Dr. and blood pressure was 179/93.Are these meds casuing this?I have always had normal blood pressure.I am obese and have family history of high blood pressure.I have taken cymbalta and quite a few years ago took effexor xr and didn't have any probelms with blood pressure.

If it keeps you awake at night then take in the the morning or noon. If it makes you sleepy then take in in the evening. You should do well on it. I have found it to be a very clean antidepressant. Weith makes it and they really know their stuff. They have some of the best antidepressants in the world.

I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??

I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I've been on Pristiq for 8 days & am very happy with it. I started it for anxiety mostly but some depression. I've lost 5 lbs. The only side effect which hasn't been terrible is nausea. If I take the pill in the a.m. after eating its better. Other than slight dry mouth I've had no other problems. I don't take any other medications - just vitamins.

I have been trying to quite by either cold turkey or taking one in morning then one in afternoon. but i always end up back to taking 2 in morning. I have cut down in the afternoon tho. Today my eyes seem to have a bright light in the center of my vision. Almost like the effect on your eyes after somebody uses flash on the camera. It seems to be only one eye. I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? Hey there...you cannot cut the dose in half....i would call your doctor and see if he/she can change your meds or if it's ok to stop..Levaquin can be given in 250, 500 & 750 mg doses...I was on Levaquin earlier this year for uti and had horrible side effects, so i just stopped taking the meds...I had horrible heart pounding, swollen knees and it felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me with a baseball bat...

Yes its ok to cut it in half. It should have a little place on the pill where to cut it. If you want to be absolutely sure you can always ask your pharmacist.

I don't mean to patronise you in case you're already aware of this but just in case you're not. Pristiq is just a new and imprived, more concentrated and purified form of Efexor, and Efexor should never really be better than Pristiq, if anything it's the other way around. Most anti depressants and anti psychotics cause weight gain, which ***** because then you feel MORE depressed about yourself. I know how you feel.
