Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
Avatar m tn my son had nenmonia which led to ostomialitus and a broken leg. this was all eighteen months ago. he is now 3 and a half years old but still walks with a very stiff leg and can not walk up and down stairs with out putting his hand on his knee to use as a support or for leaverage. he has recovered his muscle lost which happened due to his broken leg. Avatar m tn The result was a double compound fracture of my right leg. Both major bones were broken and exposed about an inch about the ankle joint. Fortunately for me, when I arrived at the hospital, one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Las Vegas was on call. Two years, two surgeries (about 8 hours worth), a bone graft and six months in a wheel chair I am walking much better than I could have expected. My question; I generally wear softer soled shoes ( walking tennies, etc.

Avatar n tn I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.
Avatar m tn First, it is essential to know that what unusual symptoms you are facing after broken screw. It may be possible that broken screw can impinge nerve and lead to some neurological symptoms. Please consult to a neurologist for a detailed approach. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I need to share my story and hopefully get some suggestions and support and wisdom out there. I recently turned 50. I my early 40's I suffered a series of losses in a short period of time - lost my dad, my mom, best friend from college, my sister had three brain tumors (3 separate operations and survived) my father in law, miscarriage, financial, etc. I never grieved all these losses, just pushed it inside so I could function. I wound up drinking to get thru the pain and became alcoholic.
Avatar n tn It's very subjective to say just "one side of the leg" a minor leg length discrepancy may have resulted from the original injury which may have created additional stresses on that "leg". It is very important to be forthcoming and quite descriptive with your treating physician so that he or she may diagnose and treat the symptoms properly. A confrontational attitude will only result in a shorter visit, remember they are there to help you.
Avatar n tn The decision to remove these would have to be between you and your ortho surgeon - I know some of them do remove them after proper healing, but others prefer to keep them in place, not only for added support to the previously broken area, but also to avoid a second surgery for removal. Best of luck and I hope you get some relief soon.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago I was hit by a car and had my leg broken, the knee socket crushed and my shoulder broken. They performed surgery on the knee about 12 days ago and are about to do surgery on the shoulder. Both are on the left side. Is there any set up I can use that will allow me to walk in any way? As I understand it I will not be able to use a crutch on my left side. Thanks!
Avatar f tn However, unless he pays the minimum child support to her, her support may go down. because now he has another bill to pay (your child support) which makes his income of a certain level and it has to be broken into pieces to all that he owes. There may be less for everyone in this type of situations. but your case is separate from hers. Why do you worry if she'll find out or not hon? Who cares?
Avatar n tn I was run over by a car 10 months ago and suffered a broken left fibula in two places and tibula. I was treated for the broken leg and the bones have healed. However, I was never treated or examined for any other possible injuries. Upon getting hit my lower body from the waist down had gone completely numb but feeling returned within a few hours after the accident. I have been suffering from neuropathy in my feet, hands and knees along with phantom muscle and joint pain daily.
Avatar f tn Hi ..right leg broken severly after 7 months no improvement in bone..
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.

Avatar n tn Two days ago I fell down my stairs. The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised. Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.
Avatar f tn hi I am 31 weeks FTM and since 2 weeks ago my back, pelvis and right leg have been hurting non stop, I can't walk properly, can't turn around in bed easily and the only way to sleep without pain is with my maternity pillow (it is heaven)... I also had a prenatal massage, it was amazing but didn't help with my back pain.I feel like a broken grandma. My doctor said its normal, but she says everything is normal. Are you guys experiencing this too?
Avatar f tn You are so smart to refuse it with a broken leg. Is the tykenol helping quite a bit.? Funny the things that happen right when you are peeking out of the woods. Good Job! thats just the kind of thing that can set you off again!
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their pelvis during pregnancy? I broke mine in a car accident years ago and never had any problems with my first baby. This baby dropped at 28wks and my dr says he is almost certain this baby has broken it again. I'm scheduled for csection next week, which is a huge relief with the pain, but he said it could take 6-12wks to heal. Was wondering what other peoples experience was? Did it get better after delivery?
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
Avatar m tn I would also try to straighten it out throughout the day by putting it in my left pant leg between my pants and my leg. Anyway... it still works fine now it just has a slight curvature to the left. My question is could there still be complications associated with the fracture or do you think I'm fine? Also do you think it's possible that my penis did not fully develop to it's full potential size due to the fracture?
Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.
