Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.

Avatar m tn you need rehabilitation in any brain surgey, come again and we will set an appointment. The next time she said:rehabilitation is done only when she cant move a leg or arm. I am aware of the neuropsyhiatry and the test and everything. I want to make sure she gets the right treatment and doesnt waste these 6 months. Thats why I am asking her so I can make the deference between truth and real. I am looking around until I find the doctor that gives me the correct questions.

Avatar m tn Would he have learned anything in prison, something like rehabilitation? Probably not, but at least he would have been incarcerated and not able to be involved with this. Where do situations like this leave us? This kid didn't learn anything from his first scrape with the law. Chances are, this won't be his last either. He'll do some time for this, but when he gets out his gang will give him "props" and he will have garnered more respect from his fellow gang members.
Avatar m tn Hello, About 4 weeks ago my mother had a stroke. She is in a nursing home now and can't move either her left arm or her left leg at all. I don't know the full extent of the damage, other than the fact that her face was also affected and her speech. This is a sub acute facility she is in, as they term it. Does anyone know how long the stay is in this type of facility? Her progress has been slow, unfortunately.
Avatar f tn And the environment is very conducive to using. Little rehabilitation , if any, is afforded. I am afraid that you are in for a long fight if you choose to remain with him. There is hope that he can change. But he is he one that has to make that decision. Doesnt sound like he wants to quit. It could literally turn into a lifetime project for you.
5987839 tn?1381922502 The spasticity has gotten so bad in that leg ... it feels like there is a grip on my leg from above my knee, to halfway down my calf, making it difficult to walk .... in addition to the pain and mobility issues in my knee. Question: has anyone had similar issues with prior spasticity in an area where they then had surgery? What was recovery like, with the MS? Should I be worried about the MS "reacting" to the surgery?
Avatar f tn s done but showed no signs of MS. Her lumbar MRI showed broken bones?? She also has weakness in her right side and had a foot drop. She has had a scope of her bladder and also had cat scans, blood work and the test where they fill the bladder. Nobody can come up with a diagnosis for her. She has no urges and her bladder does not contract whatsoever and she has an abnormal sphincter muscle. This is something that happened all of a sudden.

Avatar f tn t know your laws in India, but here in the states there is not much you can do if an alcoholic does want to help themselves. If they have broken the law then the law authorities may attempt to force some sort of action to ovoid penalties. I would surely imagine that if he is willing to cooperate there are many rehabilitation centers available. This would be the first step.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry you have this pain. You should see a doctor as soon as possible and if it becomes chronic pain and swollen, then the emergency room may not be a bad idea. It very well could also be a sprain which involves ligaments in the area. This can also have swelling, bruising and pain with it. Pain level is not always the best way to tell if it is fractured or sprained. You most likely will need an x ray. Please see a doctor to determine what is going on.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
Avatar n tn I played basketball about 8 days ago, and have since had pain on the left side of my hip\buttocks area, and has limited severly limited my range of motion. In fact, when I try to stretch my left leg in a kicking motion I get about 30-40% of full motion, and then a sharp & stiff pain in the left leg.
Avatar f tn After 4 hours I could swallow and somewhat move my left arm and leg and regained sensation although very uncoordinated. My question is if it is normal that once I started moving my arms and legs I felt a burning shooting pain down the arm/leg. It felt like electric shocks. I don't recall ever having this happen with my previous TIAs and I am a little confused by this.

Avatar f tn I had undergone subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2009 year. Consequences of this is a lack of movement in the left arm and the leg. It was found also that I have vessel malformation. I was treated by endovascular surgery in 2010 and by gamma knife surgery in 2012. But, after 5 years the condition of my limbs have not improved.I was doing many physical exercises, innumerable hours of special massage, salubrious baths, sea water. Also much training in walking, wearing of special bandages.
