Avatar n tn when I do straight leg raises and contract my knee I sometimes encounter that sharp knife pain in knee. Also my knee locks up after doing quad sets and leg raises, Ive been told cause of the weak quadricep that is why? Anyone else out there with this?
Avatar n tn It has been 4 months since I hit my VMO quad hard at my desk. There is a constant dull pain and at times sharp sensations and tingling and my leg will contract trying to do something. About 3 weeks ago I was standing and felt something release and felt blood flow down the back of my leg. I thought this may have been the end of it. The next morning I woke up and there was a bruise right in the spot where I hit it. This is the first time there was ever a bruise.
Avatar m tn I still feel like a motorcycle drove ove my quad on the rt leg and I am also experiencing pain in my shins and instep all on the ritght outside of the leg. I have not felt pain like this since I ran cross country umpteen year ago. What the heck is going on ..... I am only experiencing minimal pain in my kee but the rest of my leg is in much worse shape then is was before the surgery. The physical therapist says my range of motion is great. Strength is good.
Avatar f tn s a muscle you should also stretch your quad. Lay on your stomach and taking the leg that is OK bend it back by the ankle and try and notice how far back you can pull it without forcing it. Now take the injured leg and do the same thing you don't want to pull it back any further than the other leg. The reason to pull the leg back is because when the tear heals you don't want it to heal shortened.
Avatar n tn t want to stress it i felt something in my quad move upward into my quad more, now today it is really sore in that spot and prior to this My quad never really hurt but it was what I hit. The area around my knee cap also hurts. I am just wondering how long it could take for a quad muscle to heal from a direct blow but with no bruising and if the weakness in the VMO muscle could cause my knee to pop and IT band to snap at times and cause pain in my pes anserine bursa.
Avatar f tn Every once in a while my right quad muscle will go numb. Everytime I've been walking. Is this the babies position or something I should be concerned about? I don't remember this happening with my other pregnancies?
Avatar m tn The strength of my injured leg is about 60 - 70% of my uninjured leg. Stretching seems to pull the muscle away from the tear site, resulting in decrease in strength and some pain. Most exercises put tension on the tendon and cause the muscle to pull away from where the tear occurred. The pain is not severe but there is a noticeable lack of functional strength in the injured leg. I feel that I have tried almost everything to rehabilitate my leg but a return of strength is nearly impossible.
Avatar m tn my girlfriend is a c5-c6 quad since 1994. a little under a week ago, she was movin her leg, her hip popped. she now has a bruise, that has grown on the inside of her thigh, on the same side. when you move her leg, her hip pops? she sweats, has dizzy spells....
Avatar f tn Wait, if you HAVE ms, and they were looking for alternate reasons for your leg pain, I don't see any major cause with this mri. Of course, I'm not a doctor. I dislocated my knee (and tore the ACL) because of foot drop and quad weakness due to ms. I did have neuropathic pain in my leg for some months, however it was unrelated to my knee. If you have ms and an assymetric gait because of it, this can definitely cause knee pain, but unsure about leg pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm 2 months out of quad bypass. Is it normal for my chest to still be popping or crackling?
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother got a quad triple bypass in 2001. She's complaining about chronic and severe fatigue. She's under regular care, but doctor doesn't seem to think the fatigue is a problem. Worried she needs stents or a "redo" of bypass. How long do these bypass last. Is it true that leg veins (used for replacement) are not as lasting as original veins? How would they test for the integrity of bypass in place now? What's involve.
Avatar n tn I snapped the front tendon in my leg about 14 months ago. I am 52 years old and it bothers me from time to time especially going up steps or standing from a sitting position. Can I have this repaired with a reasonable chance of success?
Avatar m tn from a fall, injured both quads and both knees. the left leg had a ruptured quad tendon and was repaired. the doctor believes that until the left leg is fully recovered, it is not advisable to deal with the other leg. i do accept this because he is the expert. my questions are: what is the logic for this strategy? is there any published evidence of better results with this srategy? many thanks f y reply.
Avatar f tn As above? I have a high grade quad tendon tear and the superficial component of the rectus femoris has completely ruptured. I am waiting to see the specialist which is a few weeks away. I also have high grade tear of the vastus lateris. I was able to walk after 3 days, its been 10 days now i still dont have full movement in my leg. I have been taking it really easy.
387113 tn?1313512083 Is there a way to tell the difference? I developed ON in 9/07. Since then have had bouts of severe leg weakness (mostly right side but some on the left), right arm weak, bladder problems, pins and needles, spasticity in quad muscles, hyper reflexes, and Dx w/ Llerhmettes too. Sx last about 2 months then resolve. Ok, all MS studies are neg. MRI showed "Mod to Severe Cervical stenosis at C5 - C6 with disk bulge touching the anterior cord.
Avatar n tn I am writing this in hopes that someone out there knows the answer to my "lump" in my leg. I played college level soccer for 5 years as a Goalie and strained/pulled my quad many many times but always played through it... I'd have rehab on it but nothing major felt wrong just never gave it time to heal. About 1 year later I began to train for a half marathon & begin playing again...
Avatar f tn Right knee arthroplasty post-op quad musclesdeficit by Katy890, 19 minutes ago I have just had 2 total knee replacements 2 months apart. First knee recovery went fine. With second knee, I have 118 degrees of flexion and 12 degrees of extension. My problem is that I am having serious femoral nerve pain ever since my 2nd operation 3 weeks ago today. It radiates into greater trochanter area of right hip and down my leg -- sometimes going down into the mid-calf area.
Avatar f tn Every night I wake up around 3 or 4 in the morning with pain in my left leg. the pain is inside of my leg and reminants throughout my entire leg, I try to change positions to sleep but it dosen't matter what position I try, the pain won't go away and keeps me awake until its time to get up. Once I get up, there is no more pain. I have no pain whatsoever while I am up during the day or evening. It is only at 3 or 4 in the morning when I am trying to sleep.
Avatar f tn I am 12 weeks post op from a Rt. ACL revision with a quad tendon graft. My extension in the ACL knee is over an inch less than in my left leg. My flexion is 130 degrees only after manipulation by my PT. I am still using a cane, and have a residual quad lag. I am having a very difficult time regaining VMO strength. My knee also gets very warm when I am doing my PT sessions. Is this normal for a revision surgery? If not, what do I need to do?
Avatar f tn Over the past year, I have been tested for problems with my gall bladder due to persistant upper right quad pain, especially after eating or drinking something. I was diagnosed with bleeding ulcers after an EGD in March of 2009. My treatment included protonix, bentil, and sucralfate. I have also had problems with slightly elevated liver enzymes for over a year. My levels seem to fluctuate between normal and elevated.
Avatar n tn I decided to lie on the floor and do some leg lifts to strengthen it and was shocked to find I could not raise my right leg off the ground, no matter how hard I tried. I tried side lifts too and nothing. My quad had completely atrophied and stopped working. An orthopedic surgeon referrred me to a physical therapist thinking it was just a result of runner's knee, but the therapist said my muscle weakness was far to severe to be that.
Avatar m tn I was still experiencing pain and tightness in my knee as well as in the quad tendon but have been able to resume training with running, squatting, jumping, etc. Laying on my back, lifting my leg, and bending my leg back and forth usually creates some discomfort and a little grinding in the knee. At night prior to going to bed I always stretch. The other night I was performing the couch stretch. During the stretch I heard and felt a very loud pop directly in my knee.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
