Avatar m tn I have been in a terrible car accident that left me with a broken left elbow, wrist, femur and crushed right foot. I have recovered from all but the right foot pain requires me to take 60mg of Norco a day. I'am at a point in the recovery were 2 out of 3 doctors want to remove my leg from the knee down to relieve me of the pain and a hope for a better life. I cant come to the fact of losing my right leg at this point due to the mental pressure the accident has left on me.
Avatar m tn The nose end of the vehicle landed on her right lower leg, crushing the Tibia and Fracturing the Fibula. She was Med-Flighted the 40+ miles to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Alabama. I would have preferred that she had been flown to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama but she was losing a lot of blood, so good thinking on behalf of the Med Flight Crew. Anyway, she spent 8 hours in the Pediatric Trauma/ER before seeing a surgeon...
Avatar m tn The patient, who had had surgery on a broken hip 4 days before the O2 was found to be low, developed one clot in the opposite leg later that night (surgery was successful), and developed a clot in the leg of the broken hip the next day. She died of cardiac arrest and kidney failure less than two days after the low O2 was discovered. It was all very fast.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with graves disease in 2002, but my thyroid levels have balanced out and and I am no longer taking PCU. I have been suffering from leg pain mainly right leg, but will sometimes switch to left leg or both at the same time. The leg pain usually occurs out of no where, the cold only makes it worst. The pain is often so painful that it is unbearable to walk. I remember have this leg pain as far back as 7yrs old.
Avatar f tn She had pins put in her right hip. She was sent back to the nursing home. She is now on oxygen all of the time. This is something she never used before her first trip to the hospital with kidney failure. She was still living at home and was not having any trouble breathing that the doctors felt she needed oxygen at home. They now can't get her blood thinner regulated and she has a level of 0.7. We are told the norms are 1.2-2.0.
Avatar n tn Three weeks ago my wife fell at home, breaking her tibia and fibula. Upon entering a hospital ER, routine vital sign tests revealed a heart rate of 150 and a oxygen SAT in the low 80's. We are now at home. Her heart rate is stabilized, but she remains on oxygen (2 liters). She has long suffered from severe chronic pain caused by small fiber neuropathy, and takes high doses of opioids for the pain.

Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.

Avatar m tn It means your left ventricle is lower than average at pumping blood around the body to feed oxygen/nutrients. This can be caused by many things and your Cardiologist will run some tests to actually establish the cause, and then start the best treatment. Most of the reasons can be fixed and over time your left ventricle should go back to normal. Some reasons for cause can be high blood pressure, too much alcohol, faulty valve, blocked coronary artery.
Avatar f tn In the past, he has used oxygen to assist with the low levels in addition to the cpap. I noticed his leg/back pain was less while using oxygen. We have recently moved from McAllen TX to Wichita KS. He has stopped using the oxygen and the pain has returned with a vengence not only in his legs/back, but his entire body hurts. Is there any medical support that the use of oxygen helps to reduce pain?

Avatar n tn Slacker101 - The 1st girl was 7 weeks before outbreak, the 2nd girl 5 weeks before outbreak. These girls both had boyfriends for long term (5+ yrs) before me, which is why I dont think they would of had it. I was pretty rundown around the time of the outbreak though, would this make a difference? I had a knee surgery done. Grace- yes you are right, I guess I wanted to just be sure I was contagious at the time before I go ahead and gave them a scare, because I know how nuts its made me.
Avatar f tn Hi ..right leg broken severly after 7 months no improvement in bone..
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar m tn This led to a overnight sleep study done in my local hospital under observation and lots of attached sensors...everything from oxygen to heart rate to leg motion... to sleep phases. This resulted in a diagnosis of mild sleep apnea. I was not tired during the day. My overseeing Pulmonary doctor said if I loss some weight my condition could improve. I weighed about 240 pounds and am 6 foot 6 inches tall, well maybe closer to 5 inches as wear of age is making me shorter.
Avatar f tn Sleeping on your back can reduce blood flow to your legs (and the baby) and less blood means less oxygen which could cause cramps.
Avatar f tn While there are whole body systems, ideally the treatment unit only encloses the leg to be treated. With one hundred percent oxygen the problem is that with people having chronic COPD, common in the elderly, the breathing rate may decrease. In fact breathing may cease. That is why the nasal cannula is generally used by first responders and in a hospital environment. That is why a 100 percent non-rebreather is generally contraindicated.
Avatar f tn The contractions made my baby boys heart rate slow down too, not a lot, but some. They gave me oxygen and made the iv give fluids faster.
Avatar m tn It is due to your body converting the glucose and oxygen to lactate.
