Avatar m tn I had a large open fracture high trauma injury. I had 10cm of broken bone removed from my tib. I underwent a long operation to graft a free flap from my lat muscle on my back, bone grafts from both hips and a skin graft. I also had a ilizarov frame fitted. A few months later I had an operation to break the top of my tib to lengthen my leg.
Avatar n tn That means before I can walk it will be 9 weeks from the injury date. All for a broken fibula and sprained deltoid ligament. I think the doctor is being extremely conservative, I need to be weight bearing to get back to work. Does this seem like a rather stiff sentence? Shouldn't it be 6 weeks from the injury date assuming normal healing occurs on the bone?
Avatar n tn I had the tops of both my feet broken several years ago and also had an operation on the meniscus (spelling?) in 1976. This was caused by a auto accident. I am now 71. I take Lasix - 20 mg. per day for complications from a liver ailment. Because of this I cannot take many medications. Not more than 1 Ibuprofen every two or three days. My doctors say I have degenerative osteoarthritis which was diagnosed in 1980, but in the joints and this I have learned to live with.
893240 tn?1241409066 As i looked at the x-ray result after the operation, i wonder if he made the operation right because the cracked bone still protrudes and the big space between the broken bone is noticeable(please see pictures in my profile). Does the protrusion of the bone can have a great effect if we talk about the healing process? As I looked at the x-ray result, I doubt if the screw missed its target, but I'm not a doctor to say that my opinion is right. Hope anyone could help me.
Avatar f tn For the first 10 days following surgery I had no leg pain at all - it was like a miracle! However, over the last few days, the leg pain has begun to return. It is mainly when I lie down and although it is not as severe as before surgery, it is enough to keep me awake at night and i have had to begin taking pain medication again. I am terrified that the operation has failed.
Avatar m tn Not sure what operation you're referring to. L5 is a bit higher than your tailbone, but nerves that exit at this level to innervate the legs, back, and buttocks. Leg pain can result from circulatory problems, kidney disease, and a variety of other conditions, including under use. What is the reason for your leg pain? Are we talking about a radiculopathy?
Avatar n tn Less than a week after surgery I noticed that my hair growth on that total leg has gone from extremely light to very heavy. The other leg remains unchanged. I brought this up to my doctor at a follow up today and he acted as if I was crazy and tried to say it was probably medicine related, but I have a hard time accepting that since this happened only to the leg the knee replacement was on and at the exact time of the knee replacement. Thank you for any comment.
Avatar n tn However, what concerns me most are the unsightly broken veins around my nipples as a result of the first operation and I fear that a second operation will result in more. Can you tell me if this is unavoidable. I understand that recorrective surgery can be less traumatic as the pocket for the implant has already been created? Many thanks for any feedback you can give me on this.
Avatar n tn I found both of them willing to give their opinion but reluctant to give answers as to why he cannot walk very well. Both said it could improve the pain if he has an operation, but neither said why or what was causing the pain. He is a diabetic and has serious leg issues (vascular) and that also is alarming in the sense of an operation. It's kind of sad because he had been active before this. Thank you for your response.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old I tore my labrum my freshmen year of high school playing volleyball and basketball. I am having surgery next month to fix this but as of now I can't hardly walk, it hurts to sit down and I get horrible shin splints when I try to walk normal. My knee is tingling and my lower back always feels strained. I have read tons and tons of articles over this and this is very common through a torn labrum. I hope your surgery goes well.
Avatar f tn I have a child that's 3yrs of age. He had a fontan operation a week ago n he's experiencing a pain in his leg, where he's hopping one leg, even wen stretching it out it fussing. Can that be other problem apart from his surgery?
Avatar n tn It might indicate a strained tendon. If it were a broken bone, she would not walk on the leg at all. When you are looking at her foot, also look at her leg for any possible bites, and also feel her shoulder. So far, it doesn't sound bad. But if you happen to find a bite, get her in to see the vet as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn First, it is essential to know that what unusual symptoms you are facing after broken screw. It may be possible that broken screw can impinge nerve and lead to some neurological symptoms. Please consult to a neurologist for a detailed approach. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn When I was 8 years old I was hit by a car and badly damage. This damage included my nose being broken. Because of my broken nose, breathing was difficult as well as a problem with a runny nose. Since the operation I now have a divut (gap) on the right side of my nose bridge as well as a large area of cartlidge or bone growth (which appears to get bigger) on the right side of the my nose, to the cheek .... Is this what is supposed to happen....
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
