Avatar n tn I was run over by a car 10 months ago and suffered a broken left fibula in two places and tibula. I was treated for the broken leg and the bones have healed. However, I was never treated or examined for any other possible injuries. Upon getting hit my lower body from the waist down had gone completely numb but feeling returned within a few hours after the accident. I have been suffering from neuropathy in my feet, hands and knees along with phantom muscle and joint pain daily.
Avatar f tn nerve conduction was fine in lower legs/shin but i had reduced conduction (no bell curve at all) in upper legs/thigh. what does this mean? do i have nerve damage? and from what? what does this mean? could i have reduced conduction if my sciatic nerve is irritated? doctor also did the voodoo test. i heard static in my lower legs when i applied my muscles. i didn't hear any static in my upper legs. thanks.
Avatar n tn When did the sneeze occur? I have a similar issue. If you've had the nerve damage for 20 years, whatever nerve damage exists is probably permanent. I've been told that nerves heal at a rate of about 1/2 inch per month, so for the sciatic nerve, you are looking at up to 2 years for recovery. After that, what you have is what you have. Now, that assumes that your problem is entirely resulting from the nerve damage. I don't know what type of strengthening you've tried.
Avatar n tn Well, he lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks and finally went back in the hospital where they ran tests and discovered he had nerve damage in his leg that may take up to a year to heal. He is in severe pain and trying to do physical therapy but can only walk a short distance with a walker. He also has other issues due to lupus that he has had for 10 years and has affected his kidneys. I am just wondering what caused the nerve damage. We can't seem to get an answer from any of the doctors.
Avatar n tn I am unable to kneel and have a haematoma in my calf that still causes pain if touched. Oh and my left leg is 3cm thicker than my right leg now just due to all the damage. Turns out I hadn't damaged any muscle but the fat that protects your muscle was all torn and crushed. Im grateful I still have my leg!
Avatar f tn Moderate denervation of rectus femoris and vastus lateralis due to femoral nerve damage, with nerve block being the cause. Treatment includes increasing mobility with supportive therapy. The neurologist/ pain physician could try corticosteroid injection in the area to reduce any inflammation related swelling and improvement in nerve function. Pain medicines for the pain and physical therapy to maintain the muscle strength.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm trying to find out more information from others who are going through ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve damage or neuralgia. I've been suffering from groin pain and numbness of my right leg after an ovarian egg retrieval. This was my third egg retrieval as an egg donor. Somehow during this last retrieval nerves were damaged most likely due to scar tissue being built up or the needle damaging the nerves.
Avatar f tn After 3 weeks of suffering in excruciating pain the doctor finally scheduled me for a MRI and xrays, yesterday the the assistant called me and said that they did not see any nerve damage but that I had 2 slipped disks and one broken one above my tailbone. She put me on a steroid pack and gave me ultram, but has refered me to a pain clinic.
Avatar n tn I believe I corrected the cause of my neuroma - tight shoes, lax ligaments BUT NOW I want to know what are the chances that the enlarged nerve measured at .55cm by ultrasound will go back to normal someday? Can excess sheathing and scar tissue be broken down by the body? I need to believe a benign tumor mass like this neuroma can dissolve on its own?
Avatar n tn The doctor said it is permananent nerve damage. I still have numbness/burning pain in both legs and severe back pain. My Pain management doctor wants me to do a permanent SCS for the pain. Should I seek a second opinion from another neurosurgeon? My neurosurgeon has said he does not see anything on MRI and has has no answers. Also, will my drop foot eventually get worse? Does the muscles associated with the nerve damage deteriorate? Thank you again, have a nice day!!
Avatar n tn In radial nerve paralysis, it depends on where along the nerve the damage is and how severe the damage is when it comes to what the prognosis is. Since the leg seems useless, my guess would be that there is also damage to the brachial plexus, which is the center of the nerve network.
Avatar m tn My 6 month old daughter just had Open Reduction Hip surgery (left side only) to correct Hip Dysplasia. During the disection process, her surgeon accidentally severed the nerve that extend the leg to the knee. We didn't ask what the name of the nerve was, but I think it may be the fermoral nerve from the research I have done online. The surgeon realized her mistake right away, and repaired the nerve. She is optimistic that our daughter will recovery fully.

Avatar n tn I have tingling in the arch of the foot too and reduced sensation in some of the areas but I think it is from nerve damage to the peroneal nerve damage near the knee.
2108855 tn?1334106269 Could it be from the way your walking has been altered since the injury? Has anyone tested you for nerve damage? I have had broken bones in the past, but I had no idea (especially after surgical intervention) that a pair of breaks could change so many things you once took for granted. Go figure. In your case, don't give up ... keep pushing to keep up your muscle tone, etc. The specialists may not have your answers yet - but that doesn't mean that they won't!
Avatar f tn ve had cortisone shots, taken Voltaren, do stretching excersises, my doctor says last resort surgery. I have a heal spur that has caused my 3rd and 4th toes on rt foot nerve damage, pain level 7 to 8 all the time. Is surgery necessary? What type is it? What does it do and is it effective? Recovery time?
Avatar f tn As a result of this, my left leg nerve was damaged and numb from hip, down through my thigh to my foot and heel. There is pain down the left leg and half of the foot. I have feeling in all my toes except my little toe. There is pain in my left ankle. Is this permanent? My Doctor just ignores this saying it will last at least a year, but then the nerves will heal themselves.
Avatar n tn Much will depend on contributing factors, the location of the nerve damage, the severity of the damage and the cause of the damage. Some treatments available, again based on location and cause are steroid injections, various medications, nerve blocks, a rhizotomy (Radiofrequency ablation) and more. If you can be more specific we may have more suggestions for you. If you are suffering from nerve damage my heart goes out to you.
Avatar m tn I had 8 broken ribs, broken collar bone, broken shoulder blade, broken pelvis, perforated liver and spleen, and bleeding on my brain. This happened 6 months ago. Most everything has healed ( plate and screws in my shoulder now), but I have severe nerve damage on my right side from my shoulder to under my breasts. It feels like I am wearing an underwire continuously and I don't have much feeling. Except for bad feeling. Has anyone ever experienced this? Will I ever feel good again?
