Avatar m tn I have a lot of pain behind my left knee & my left leg calf has a lot of pressure in it. It feels like it wants to burst. I have been taking therapy but isn't working. With two hips replaced & degenerated discs I'm getting to hate pain. I was doing good after hips replaced but know this pain has come in. What could be causing this pain.
Avatar m tn my son had nenmonia which led to ostomialitus and a broken leg. this was all eighteen months ago. he is now 3 and a half years old but still walks with a very stiff leg and can not walk up and down stairs with out putting his hand on his knee to use as a support or for leaverage. he has recovered his muscle lost which happened due to his broken leg. His pediatrition has no answer to this stiffness, walking issue...
Avatar n tn Believe it or not, my van ran over my leg 3.5 weeks ago. Long story short: I thought I had it in park, but it was in reverse. I got out and it started rolling away backward downhill & I tried to chase it down the driveway. I never made it inside & fell, getting my left left run over by the front tire. Ouch, to say the least! Miraculously there were no broken bones, but of course LOTS of contusions, swelling and pain.
Avatar f tn Thankyou for ur quick response I am a 36 year old and I also sustained a broken knee bone I now have a scar on bone.
1417063 tn?1282107664 Could it be a muscle tear? If the swelling is what they used to term 'fluid on the leg', my mother had an old wives tale to treat it. I broke my kneedcap (kneecap got pushed round to the outside of my leg then pushed back into place, but apparently a couple of pieces had broken off the kneecap).
Avatar n tn The pain is usually centered around the original break area but it can occur just below the knee and down the leg to the ankle. Taking a couple of Ibuprorin usually relieves the pain and everything seems normal. Looking for answers as to what is causing this and what can be done to get rid of it. Thanks in advance for your response.
Avatar m tn The trochlea is a groove in the end of the upper leg bone wherein the kneecap (patella) can move. When the groove is shallow, the kneecap can have a tendency to move sidewards. This is called trochlear dysplasia. Hypoplasia means incomplete development or underdevelopment of an organ or tissue. I think this can not be from damage taken to the knee.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago I had an accident, I feel off a Quattrocycle and the wheel ran over my ankle twisting my leg. Bruising came out straight away and a little swelling, I rested leg for a few days and continued walking with a little pain thereafter .
Avatar n tn I brought this up to my doctor at a follow up today and he acted as if I was crazy and tried to say it was probably medicine related, but I have a hard time accepting that since this happened only to the leg the knee replacement was on and at the exact time of the knee replacement. Thank you for any comment.
Avatar f tn Hi, it's been quite a few hours since I banged my knee and I couldn't sleep from the pain that was going down my leg. My leg around the knee area hurts a lot when I got up this morning my knee was pretty stiff and I have pain going down my leg all the way to my ankle should I get this checked out? Could I have fractured something or could it be just banged up? Is it even possible to fracture anything in that area? Can some one advice me please.
Avatar n tn I put ice on it for 20 minutes and kept the leg elevated during this time. The pain was localized to the area of the broken skin. A few days later, a scab formed where the skin was broken, and although the area still hurt when pressed, I had no problems walking, jogging or swimming. Five days after the injury though, my left knee cap began to hurt. There was even a tingling sensation from above the knee cap down to the shin (left lateral).
Avatar m tn The result was a double compound fracture of my right leg. Both major bones were broken and exposed about an inch about the ankle joint. Fortunately for me, when I arrived at the hospital, one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Las Vegas was on call. Two years, two surgeries (about 8 hours worth), a bone graft and six months in a wheel chair I am walking much better than I could have expected. My question; I generally wear softer soled shoes ( walking tennies, etc.
Avatar n tn It's very subjective to say just "one side of the leg" a minor leg length discrepancy may have resulted from the original injury which may have created additional stresses on that "leg". It is very important to be forthcoming and quite descriptive with your treating physician so that he or she may diagnose and treat the symptoms properly. A confrontational attitude will only result in a shorter visit, remember they are there to help you.
Avatar f tn A physical therapist I was seeing short-term for another issue told me I probably had knee floaters...broken off pieces of something that float in your knee and catch at certain times. Again, nothing to worry about. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is there anything I can do about this? It's been a couple years but if I didn't know better, I would say the pain is getting worse. It hit today and I actually yelled out loud because of the pain level.
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago I was hit by a car and had my leg broken, the knee socket crushed and my shoulder broken. They performed surgery on the knee about 12 days ago and are about to do surgery on the shoulder. Both are on the left side. Is there any set up I can use that will allow me to walk in any way? As I understand it I will not be able to use a crutch on my left side. Thanks!
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar m tn a horse kicked me in my thigh 2 weeks ago , iwent to the hospital to get it checked i had an exray and there were no fractures.
Avatar m tn and screams at night out of dead sleep in leg pain his leg also appears to be bowing out.
358594 tn?1211255129 Reconstruction of the ACL is recommended,if instability continues even after leg strength and knee motion has returned. In serious knee injury, do not attempt to move the joint. A splint should be used to keep the knee straight .Take complete rest as your right ankle is injured and do not put weight on your injured knee. Best .

Avatar m tn Last Sunday I came home to find my wife sat behind the front door, she said Brian I have broken my leg, She had been putting seed in the bird feeders and fell from the ladder , then crawled all the way up the garden ,through the house to unlock the door so I could get in. SHE was blue lighted to the hospital she has broken her TIBIA below the knee and another bone .
Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.
