Broken leg italian greyhound

Common Questions and Answers about Broken leg italian greyhound

broken-leg

Avatar f tn Our Italian greyhound broke his leg a week ago and required immediate surgery. Two nights post surgery we found him in the kitchen - he’d gotten under his bandages and was licking at the stitches. I took him to the vet the next morning where he was given a topical ointment to apply 1x daily and put on antibiotics. He didn’t manage to get any of the stitches out but it’s been 5 days and the area he licked (between two stitches) is still “open wound” like and not showing any signs of healing.
Avatar f tn I have bhad an Italian greyhound since he was 10 weeks and he is very healthy!!! Always eating, lol.. Well last Tuesday we rescued a puppy from a dirty pound and she seemed VERY healthy just alittle hungry. Well then by Thursday she started coughing and took her to the vet he said her kungs seemed clear and she seemed other wise healthy. The next day we took our italian greyhound to get his bordatella shot but too late he has it too.
Avatar f tn I own a chihuahua and Italian greyhound mix. She has the body of a miniture greyhound but the head of a chihuahua with pointy upright ears. Recently she has been constantly scratching her right ear and rubbing it on the ground. Upon inspecting it today I noticed that the ear was very swollen and she didn't keep it up very often. As ibfelt it very lightly it feels as if it has some kind of fluid in it. She also almost never whimpers, but every now and then and when I felt it she did.
Avatar m tn One of them had brought her dog (greyhound) and it was calm, relaxed and enjoying the company. I got up from my seat and I must have stepped on one of its paws (or part of) because she made a sound and bit my leg. Now, I was wearing jeans and it was a quick bite, more like a nibble, no pain but stunned. Anyways, once I got back to my place I showered, cleaned my leg but found no bite mark... Except a tiny, pin-sized red spot that could very well be unconnected to the biting incident.
Avatar f tn Gia is an Italian greyhound, age unknown, although she was rescued in 2009 and was full grown then. Several times a month for years her stomach starts crackling, popping, fizzling and making all kinds of weird noises and she will not eat when this is happening. In the last year she is sneezing and reverse sneezing and my vet can't seem to figure out what is wrong. His last solution was a steroid shot which seemed to reduce the number of sneezing incidents but not the reverse sneezing.
Avatar m tn Dog got bit by my other dog, the bigger one is a Begel, the other is half italian greyhound and jack russel.... Need less to say the younger smaller one started and the bigger older one finished with a clean semi deep k9 tooth right above her eye.
637356 tn?1301924822 I'm glad to hear your kitten is doing better. That must be frightening to have seen those dogs and your kitten like that! One of our neighbors has two dogs, one big one and one italian greyhound, and a cat they let roam outside. I've seen how the italian greyhound treats the cat. It treats the cat like it's a toy. It nips at the cats legs and tries to pull them. The cat swats back at the italian greyhound.
1671377 tn?1308434261 We adopted a 2 yr old dog we were told was great dane but seems to be more greyhound mix, now she howls and digs like a greyhound-houndmix. Her first few weeks she was house broken exactly as we were told. However she has never touched her dog food. Only cat food and that didnt last long. Now she refuses anything but what she finds left around if anything is left. If not she will find any way possible to get to garbage. She refuses to go outrside now to do number 2.
Avatar n tn I have an Italian Greyhound. She is not eating very well in the morning, and night she sometimes turns her nose up at the food but will come back to eat it. I give her Royal Kanie for dry food and Natures receipe easy to digest wet food. No other systems. Going to bathroom okay, nothing in her stool.
Avatar f tn hi - my 12 year old greyhound had a mass removed from her hind leg that is cancerous. her cbc was perfect, but there were no platelets found in the blood that comprised the tumor on her leg. i just ordered k9 immunity and k9 transfer factor to help build up her immunity, and we're increasing omega 3's and removing all grain from her diet. does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? would love some insight and wisdom from those who are in the know.
Avatar n tn s neck about the size of a pellet. She is a four year old italian greyhound crossed with a chihuahua. The vet suggested we watch it for awhile to see if it gets any bigger and wasn't overly concerned with it since dog's have all kinds of lumps and bumps. It started to become a little bigger, and I was really worried about it so we removed it. The vet says that it is a good thing that we removed it because it was a sebaceous gland adenocarcinoma.
Avatar n tn Our 11 yr. old Italian Greyhound is not eating. We took him to the vet. and they did blood work and x-rays on him. They also took his temp. and he had a fever so they gave him medicine for that. The x-rays and blood work came out normal, but he is still not eating and has lost more than 2 lbs. The. vet. said that it could be cancer. My question is if the blood work and x-ray came out normal then how can it be cancer.

1916673 tn?1420233270 I usually check-in every day to read through posts and respond where appropriate, but life has sent me some angst recently. My greyhound, Sally, rescued by us two years ago, has had her annual bloods undertaken and her CREA is high - thankfully, her BUN and phos are normal, but it's still a worry for a six yr old. Anyway, we are having a few further tests done including a urine microalbuminuria test, which can diagnose kidney issues earlier than a blood sample.
Avatar n tn I have a 14 year old Miniature Pinscher that is my 1st AKC Champion & the foundation for my show kennel. Even at 11 years of age, he was cleared for his OFA Cardiac but in the past year, he was put on Lasix 12.5mg tabs, due to the fact that he sometimes gets congestion. Until about 2-3 months ago, he was doing perfectly, but then I noticed he wasn't breathing well. I also noticed that he really seemed to be hunching his back up, like a whippet or Italian Greyhound.

8552542 tn?1398674649 My wife n I have had several greyhound rescue dogs, This one was EXRTA special. Very affectionate, aware, playful . I am disabled with cardiac disease and a broken back neck , my wife MS. So this dog was very special to us, keeping out spirits up as we fought off, 15 heart procedures, MS relapses, and most recently possible Stomach cancer. I was released from the hospital last Thursday and had a ENDOSCOPY procedure the next day.
Avatar f tn I have had an old greyhound for about 2months now, and have just had her spayed, 4days ago. she has been fine, but tonnight, got up to see if she was ok, have been checking on her in the night, and she had weed on the carpet, even though she went out and pooed and weed before i went to bed, could there be something wrong, ? the scar looks ok, and she is quiet and restfull but not unhappy, eating and drinking. has anyone had this ?
Avatar n tn I also noticed that he really seemed to be hunching his back up, like a whippet or Italian Greyhound. Until this point, he'd never had any neurological signs what so ever & He's always been a very healthy dog. I took him to the vet and they did a full exam. The Vet does acupuncture and holistic medicine also. She commented that he'd do well with acupuncture, so she performed an acupuncture/chiropractic session as well. She commented that he seemed very stiff in his neck.
Avatar f tn Our 5 year old lab was attacked by another dog at 10 weeks old and her jaw was broken. The veterinary dentist removed 4 teeth on her lower right side (including the canine) and also did some bone grafts. All has been well ever since until we went in for a cleaning last week. Now, she has broken the large tooth on the upper right side of her mouth (sorry, i can't remember what it's called, but the dentist indicated it has 3 roots).
Avatar m tn Our almost 6 year old greyhound was fine this morning. He is never off lead. I took him out in the backyard, he peed & pooped normally, then started running around in circles on his leash as he has done almost every day for the last 4 years since we adopted him. All of a sudden he lay down or collapsed and whined oddly, then had what appeared to be a seizure lasting maybe 30 seconds. As soon as he collapsed his eyes became unfocused and he appeared to stop breathing.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
1916673 tn?1420233270 I have a 4yr old rescued greyhound that patchy hair loss on its hind quarters, hind legs and under-belly. Our first thoughts were an allergy, but changing foods made no difference. The vet examined her and tried various treatments, all of which failed. More recently, I tried using pure coconut oil rubbed on alternate days on two of the six main patches of hair loss. Within a week, these specific patches are virtually cured.
