3072999 tn?1356414732 Hi Tink, I am actually a medical coder for a hospital -the ICD-10 code would be G93.5. The ICD-9 code is 384.4. Since ICD-9 is not very specific they may have put a I after to show it is a Chiari Malformation type 1. In ICD-10 it is more specific - G93.5 states Chiari Malformation 1. So I am assuming since the ICD-9 code of 384.4 just states compression of brain they had to add a 1 so it was more specific for their notes.
678312 tn?1310010574 On Monday the 5th of July, I was using a dry microfibre cloth to wipe down a canvas camping chair and was touching the arm of the chair with my other hand and I got what felt like an electrical shock in my hand that was touching the chair - like touching an electric fence. I jumped back and my leg touched the leg of the chair and I got shocked there also. This felt like way more than static. Has anyone ever had this happen before?
Avatar n tn For the emotional pain, I think you just have to stay informed and keep up with your appointments. Take it one day at a time. Prior to the broken lead, had your ICD fired in the past? My dad has a machine (at his house) that checks his ICD/pacemaker every night. I think the doctor's office gets a daily update. Do you have something similar? Wishing you a peaceful and pleasant weekend.
Avatar f tn I had a sudden Mi caused by stress. I was diagnosed with broken heart syndrome and CHF. My EF is only 10-15%. I wear a life vest, am on coreg, asa, lipitor, brilinta. My bp is too low for ace inhibitors or beta blockers. I'm 58 and otherwise healthy. I have smoked for 45 yrs, a pack a day, now down to 5-6cigarettes a day. This happened 3 weeks ago.what are my odds and life expectancy?
Avatar m tn So I had an issue with a new ICD giving me small shocks in the middle of the night. I ask the doctor and they downloaded the info from the ICD, reviewed it, and told me everything is fine, device is working correctly, it did not trigger. Happened again and again I notified the doctor, same answer. I contacted Medtronic and was told it was not an uncommon concern, could be the overnight recalibration.
Avatar f tn I think you should do as much research about your lead and about lead replacement before making any decisions. You never found out why your lead shocked you. How do you know there is anything wrong with it? Also, isn't the ICD replacement straight forward (i.e. no real big deal?) whereas the lead replacement is a very big deal? If so, I think it makes more sense to wait and go through a second procedure when and if it becomes necessary, or starts to look like it will be necessary.
Avatar m tn I would also try to straighten it out throughout the day by putting it in my left pant leg between my pants and my leg. Anyway... it still works fine now it just has a slight curvature to the left. My question is could there still be complications associated with the fracture or do you think I'm fine? Also do you think it's possible that my penis did not fully develop to it's full potential size due to the fracture?
Avatar m tn My husband had a Medtronic ICD implanted in 2004. Unfortunately he has one of the recalled leads. He had the generator replaced in 2/09 and was told the lead was not broken. Four weeks later he received four shocks and went to the ER. The defibrillator was turned off with the pacer still working. Now the doc wants to replace the lead. This is causing a lot of anxiety and my husband would like to just keep the defibrillator turned off.
Avatar m tn Hello In July I was diagnosed with " acute occlusive thrombus in the right gastrocnemius vein " after a ultrasound of my right leg. The doctors in the ER told me that this is not a DVT, but a superficial blood clot. The order that I provided to my hematologist clearly states that " NO evidence of any acute DVT. My hematologist in his letter to my employer, described my condition as a " gastrocnemius DVT (I82.401).
Avatar m tn The later ICDs are more sophisticated and do a better of of identifying V-tach correctly and attempt to pace me out of V-tach before shocking. In the course of replacing tone ICD, I got an infection and the ICD and leads had to be removed and placed on the right side. Through all of this, I continued to exercise, but gave up competitive racing. In the last couple years, the V-tach returned about 1 or 2 times per month.
Avatar n tn I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.
Avatar m tn A few days ago I had my ICD turned off. Have had it in place for four years and have hated every second. Am now looking into having the control unit removed. Does anyone know how difficult this is to have done. My Dr. does not want me to have it removed and even wants me to turn it back on. It has gone off once, bit my tongue almost off and broke a tooth. Enough already.
967168 tn?1477584489 m not pacemaker dependent, but I saw a new EP last Friday who did 45 min of extensive testing on my ICD. He said I should have never left the hospital with the leads the way they were or at the very least had them repaired within a few weeks time. I still have my original problems that I had before implant, pvc's & nsvt runs daily, pre-syncope, dizziness, shortness of breath but it did alleviate complete syncopal episodes.
Avatar n tn I have heard mixed things o the topic and in my case I have an ICD so as not to risk a broken rib piercing my heart as initially I was told NO COMPRESSIONS but I have read that light compressions (such as you would do for a child/infant) aided by a flat object such as a bed pan work as well It has long been a concern of mine since my sternectomy in August 2007
Avatar f tn The last time I had a mommo was about 9 months ago.. The said there were some clusters, but not to worry about them. Would this still be part of the Lymph Node?
Avatar f tn 426.9 conduction disorder, unspecified what does that mean? dangerous?
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
Avatar m tn So in a sense it would be like insurance. The pacer on his ICD was set at 65. At next visit they set it at 70. Long story short, he had ICD placed the end of Jan. '10.His heart rate is regular rate 65-70. At times I can sill feel heart skipping beats with large space between. It's then that pacer kicks in and he's back on the right track. His real problem is SOB. Refuses oxygen. I have news for him, after next MD visit, he WILL be on oxygen.
Avatar m tn I have had 3 ablations over the last 3 years and this last one seems to have made things feel worse. The procdure took nearly 9 hours and was 'complicated' according to the Dr. Since the evening after the procedure I am more aware of my heart beating, seems faster at times and more irregular. I already called my doctor and he wants me to go back tomorrow, which I am.
