1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.

Avatar n tn I had x-rays done there is no torn muscle , dislocated, cracked or broken bones the doctor told me to strecth the area but it hasn't helped, was wondering if a chiropractor would be able to help me with my problem
Avatar m tn I had awful bone pain when I was on Neupogen. I've always contended for me, the side effects from Neupogen were as bad if not worse than those from antiviral therapy. It stimulates the colonies of white stem cells within the bone marrow causing the level of neutrophils in the blood to rise. It is common to have aching bones and joints for 2-3 days duration starting 1-2 days after the start of the injections.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
1196614 tn?1265075773 I had both bones broken too and they only nailed the tibia. I was told the fibula would align itself and heal as is. so far so good.
Avatar m tn I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. The bones of leg take about 6-8 weeks to unite and another few months to strengthen. So, once you are able to bear weight on them after physiotherapy and the muscles are strong enough (say about 4-6 weeks after cast is removed), you can take the driving test. Some doctors may allow it earlier, depending on the recovery. You may take longer to play soccer. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
Avatar m tn i was recently in a car accident where i broke my back, multiple other bones, and my hip. i have gotten so many run arounds with pain medicine that i am stuck with what i have even though it doesnt seem to work. my question is when i go to sleep at night i am up every hour or two to reajust, but it then takes me another hour just to get back to sleep. is there any tricks to getting comfortable. i have tried sleeping on my side and putting a pillow under my leg, but they are just temporary.
Avatar m tn they constantly rotated her legs and stretched them out again to check her hips before fracture was dianosed. then they put a cast on on the bottom of her leg instead of the top. would all of these mistakes have made the fracture worse than it originally was.
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
Avatar f tn While they were evaluating me in the ER, one of the first questions was if i heard popping, and i did. I also had a badly broken toe, and wen that happened I heard the bones crack. If therecwas no popping idk if that means its fine cause many times i heard nothing wen i broke bones, but if u had heard it that wld b very bad. If u have swelling or bruising that's also a bad sign. How is it doing today? Usually the day after its worse. If its better than ull prolly be fine.
Avatar n tn But otehr form repairing the bone , you can try to put soem stainless steel support on the replace of the broken bone.It is a safe teqniqie as my uncle had this operation at 1992 on his broken leg femur and he is still ok andno one even knows he had a surgery.
Avatar n tn fell, getting my left left run over by the front tire. Ouch, to say the least! Miraculously there were no broken bones, but of course LOTS of contusions, swelling and pain. After the initial ER trip, I have been seeing my Family Practice doctor and his treatment has been: stay off my leg, keep it elevated, ice for the first two weeks & heat for the last 1.5 weeks, as well as narcotic pain meds, muscle relaxer & anti-inflammatory, plus Jobst stocking.
Avatar f tn s leg makes this crunching feeling when you touch/move it, the vet also said she felt that but said it was not broken bones. If not broken bones then what is it? And how long should I expect it to take to be better? I know with humans it can be around 6-8 wks....is it the same with animals?
Avatar n tn my 3month old kitten is favoring his left hind leg. I felt his leg for any unusual swelling or bones that seem out of place there was none. He lets me touch it and doesn't meow or hiss. and he still hops on the furniture to lay down. I think his leg was hit by my front door.
Avatar n tn Hi. I would just like to know if its only areas with broken bones? I had a kidney removed and I've noticed a lot of hair growth on my stomach. Being a young 20 year old its devastating to have this issue..
Avatar f tn The xrays showed no broken bones and the mri showed nothing wrong as of 3 weeks ago( Today is April 4). Since the mri arthogram it feels like someone is shoving something hard and hot where they did the arthogram into the hip. From the beginning of the injury the injured leg has been colder than the other. Wondering what could be going on?

Avatar f tn It feels like iv done something more then just bruise or twist it because its gradually getting worse, iv broken my leg before and it kinda feels like that. Im a lifeguard and am worried that this is affecting my work, also soeone at work suggested i might have injured my 'scaphoid bone' (spelt wrong) does this sound possible?
Avatar f tn Last night we opened our backdoor to find a stray kitty (adolescent male). I noticed he was malnourished and gave him some milk and chicken (all I had for an animal). Then I noticed he was favoring one leg. I think it might be broken! I've called a few places and no one wants to deal with him, of course. They're just going to want to euthanize him instead of help him. So my question is this--- what do I do?!?!?!?!

Avatar m tn The result was a double compound fracture of my right leg. Both major bones were broken and exposed about an inch about the ankle joint. Fortunately for me, when I arrived at the hospital, one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Las Vegas was on call. Two years, two surgeries (about 8 hours worth), a bone graft and six months in a wheel chair I am walking much better than I could have expected. My question; I generally wear softer soled shoes ( walking tennies, etc.
Avatar n tn The fibula is basically the non-weight bearing bone of the leg while it is the tibia that does the major weight bearing part (the two bones of the lower leg). The concern in your case is the fracture being near to the ankle joint and the associated injury to the deltoid ligament. The sole determinant of the level of mobility and the speed of taking things would be the recovery post 6 weeks and how well you do in the following weeks post cast-removal.
