Avatar f tn My 88 year old mother had a pretty severe stoke almost 3 weeks ago. She was totally unresponsive when it first happened, just lying in bed starring at the ceiling. She is now able to move her head back and forth, move her left side (arm and leg) and has just begun to move her right foot a little and no movement in her right arm/hand at all. She still cannot speak even though she tries and unable to swallow. We had a feeding tube placed within the first week after the stroke.
Avatar n tn Yes. Leg cramps and lower back pain. Like my boyfriend tries to relax me but the slightest touch feels like he just hit me with a hammer.
Avatar n tn They happen suddenly and moves rapidly from my leg/s towards my stomach/lung area.. There is no swelling in my legs. I do stand 10 hours a day on concrete on my job. Have done this for about 10 years. I am average weight and fairly good heath otherwise. I did have a stoke over 20 years ago from a blood clot but test negative for blood clots now. I don't know where to turn in the medical field whether a vascular or nerve doctor. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I certainly agree that she should go to an ER, preferably at a teaching hospital, for an in-person evaluation. That being said, the symptoms are consistent with a cranial nerve palsy, which is not a stroke.
Avatar n tn Now I find out because of the by-pass last year I have a 50 percent renal blockage on right kidney from scare tissue, right leg is blocked (almost entire leg). And small anerisum. I believe my arteries are blocking up fast then they can be repaired or replaced. I had this done at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. I am 59 but if your about my age I would definately go through the by-passes.
Avatar f tn IVE BEEN HAVING PAIN IN MY TEMPLE, THAN I CAN FEEL PRESURE IN MY NECK JAW AND DOWN IN MY GROAN . I WENT TO THE DOC SHE IS RUNNING SOME TESTS, BUT SHE THINKS ITS NOT MY HEART OR A STOKE, OR BLOOD CLOT. DO U KNOW THE SIGNS OF A BLEEDING BRAIN, WOULD SOMEONE DIE FAST? I FEEL THE PRESURRE IN MY MAIN ATRIES LEFT SIDE.
Avatar m tn First, it is essential to know that what unusual symptoms you are facing after broken screw. It may be possible that broken screw can impinge nerve and lead to some neurological symptoms. Please consult to a neurologist for a detailed approach. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn You have been given good advice. A stoke at or before birth can cause all of the things that you have described. There would be no reason to suspect MS. I agree that your pediatrician should refer your daughter to a pediatric neurologist. Then you could get some good answers about what is going on with your daughter. I would say, that if there was a serious injury to the brain at or before delivery then you should have been seeing problems from the beginning.
Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
1670571 tn?1303706040 I know i have always walked straight leg on my right leg aswell ever sence i could walk. My mom also said i walked before i crawled i only layed on my stomach and pulled myself with my arms she called it the army crawl. Theres a nerve in front of my ear its a big one if you tap it on the right side it makes my whole middle to right side of my face jump and if you do it to the left it make my whole middle to left side jump. I know both calcium are fine.
Avatar f tn Felt a gush of fluid so i stood up and it all ran down my leg. While walking to the bathroom it continued to drip. Made it to the hospital and the first test she did said it wasnt my water!!!

1482594 tn?1287758170 I felt i was going to faint and i slowly felt numb all over and then tingling and it was progressing all over and then i could not move i felt paralyzed and my hands became palsy like stiff and my face was tingling it lasted 15 minutes and my husband said i was slurring but my mouth wasnt moving. The next day my left arm was heavy and left leg had the feeling like it was asleep. MRI shows: The ventricular volume is normal. No intracranial hemmorrhage, acute infarction, mass or midline shift.
Avatar f tn But you have a previous history of stoke then a complete neurological examination should be done. At your age, even hormonal assay (estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH should be done).
Avatar n tn I am currently 27 months out and while my leg is working fairly well my arm and hand need to use neuroplasticity to recover. There is no magical jump in function returning. So the best thing to do is keep a journal of your accomplishments so you can look back and see what progress you have made. The best comment came from my OT who looks at me from the day she first saw me lying half paralyzed in the hospital and says I have come a long way.
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar f tn Also the loss of sensation to your leg and arm are symptoms of a stoke and you are way to young for that also means that something is wrong with the left side of your brain. So be strong dont let them brush you off becuase it could mean your life.
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their pelvis during pregnancy? I broke mine in a car accident years ago and never had any problems with my first baby. This baby dropped at 28wks and my dr says he is almost certain this baby has broken it again. I'm scheduled for csection next week, which is a huge relief with the pain, but he said it could take 6-12wks to heal. Was wondering what other peoples experience was? Did it get better after delivery?
