Blood alcohol unit of measurement

Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol unit of measurement

alcohol

Avatar n tn The unit of measurement cited refers to the concentration of ethanol (alcohol) by molecular count. If an ethanol level of 0.10% is equal to 22 mmol/l or 100 mg/dl, then 1 mmol/l would equal an ethanol level of .021%. This is a very low blood alcohol level where the average individual appears normal.
Avatar m tn The term “nanog/ml” is a measurement of concentration (amount) of a substance in a given volume of liquid (in this case blood). It stands for nanograms (a unit of measure for weight) per milliliter (a unit of measure for volume). Benzoylecgonine is a metabolite (the body changes substances put into it into other substances that can be measured) of the narcotic cocaine and can be measured by urine or hair samples and allows someone to tell long-term if an individual has used this substance.
Avatar m tn So going on that I would say that if you do drink a lot of alcohol, cut it out completely or reduced your intake to the recommended daily unit measurement for men and women - you should find the details of this on the web. If you are overweight or have a very fatty diet, then eat a healthy and well balanced diet with fresh fruit and vegetables, cut down on fatty meat. Chicken, pork, turkey and fish are considered more healthy options to red meat like beef.
Avatar m tn IN millilitres - so if your Viral Load was say 300,000 iu/ml then thats 300,000 units of HCV per 1ml of blood
Avatar m tn Because it is sometimes difficult to obtain an exact history of alcohol consumption, laboratory markers of chronic alcohol misuse have been established and are frequently used. One of the best markers for chronic alcohol consumption is serum {gamma}-glutamyl transferase (GGT), which has a relatively high sensitivity and specificity. Because measurement of this enzyme is easy and inexpensive, it has generally been used for early detection of chronic alcohol misuse.
Avatar f tn Assuming you are otherwise healthy, your BP is not that low for a healthy, young female. One blood pressure reading does not indicate much of anything, especially on a home unit. Drinking water is always good advice. If you are concerned, most physicians and clinics offer free blood pressure checks to their patients. Trends are important with BP's, ask your provider what he or she recommends for you regarding frequency of measurement.

Avatar f tn Yes, VL = viral load ---- the number of virions or viral particles you have in your blood per whatever the unit of blood measurement is. Almost meaningless in terms of disease, though as desrt says, when you treat VL is closely watched to see how many of the virions are dying or how much of the copy cycle has being shut down. Some think that the higher your VL, the more infectious your blood is if it comes into direct contact with HCV-free blood.

Avatar n tn I usually find that when I drink, the mixers raise it first and the alcohol lowers it later. As for insulin, I use an insulin pump with a 1 unit / 11g of carb ratio. Because alcohol lowers my blood sugar, I will give less insulin than I normally would for the mixer itself. Example: If I use a cup of juice with my drink, I may take off 1/4 of the insulin amount I would give. This varies from drink to drink and from person to person, so it may take some time to figure out.
