You may have infected your eye from the throat infection and it might be cleared by the Azithromycin if it is the same organism that is causing the problem. But usually they give you eye drops for an eye infection that have antibiotics in them, so I'm not sure if the oral med will care of the problem. You could also have an allergy, virus in the eye or have accidently got something else in your eye. Try eye drops and if it doesn't clear up in a day or two then see an eye doctor.

my boyfriend, who lives in another country, has been sick for a few weeks. It started with what seemed to be a cold or flu, but he has been getting worse. His throat has been very sore. A couple weeks ago a doctor gave him antibiotics without doing a test, the prescription was for 5 days, unfortunately he doesn't remember which antibiotic it was. His throat was still hurting and he said he could see pus, so I told him he should get tested for strep.
I had some azithromycin prescribed to me for diarrhoea from my doctor before I came overseas, to use in case of illness/travellers diarrhoea and inability to see a doctor.
I looked up the uses of azithromycin and saw that it could be taken for chlamydia. Unfortunately at that time I didn't read the prescribed dose, so I took 1000mg in the way that is recommended for travellers diarrhoea, two 250mg tablets Day 1, Day 2 + 3 one 250mg tablet.
My 8 year old daughter has a reoccuring throat infection that requires antibiotics. She took 7 or 8 rounds of it last year and again this year seems to be getting it again. I do not want her to build up antibodies or become allergic to it. I know antibiotics are good here and there, but too much isn't good for you and if I can find a way to help her avoid her throat infections, I'd like to eliminate the need for antibiotics.
I just finished taking Azithromycin yesterday for what must of been a bacterial infection of my sinuses and lungs. It started as a cold. The cold went away but I was experiencing shortness of breath and post nasal drip that just wasn't subsiding. I went to two doctors. The first doctor prescribed a corticosteroid nasal spray (Omnaris). This helped a bit for the post nasal drip but wasn't addressing the shortness of breath or chronic cough that wasn't going away on its own.
I got infected about 3 weeks ago with Gonorrhea of the throat i had a mild sore throat and just thought it was tonsillitis since i suffer from it a lot i just went to a STD clinic and told me i have Gonorrhea in the throat and since i am extremely allergic to penicillin they gave me 2 gm of Azithromycin to take in a single dose which i did today. Now, since yesterday i have been experiencing some joint discomfort and sever non-stop tingling all over my body.
My question is could this be DGI?
I took 500 mg of it every day for three days. I believed Azithromycin was recomended for Chalmydia treatment not for Gonorrhea or, better, wasn't first choice for gonoccoccical infections.
Would it really have cured gonorrhea if I had in my throat?
Azithromycin is not recommended treatment for gonorrhea. It is for chlamydia and it can take anywhere from 24 hours to a few weeks for all symptoms to subside. It depends on the person being treated and how their body responds to treatment as well as how far the infection has progressed.
Taking Tylenol/Advil around the clock for discomfort. Put on Azithromycin and Zovirax (in case there were any cankers behind tonsil that he couldn't see). Also had routine blood drawn for upcoming physical. Got results yesterday. Wbc 14.3 and Abs Neuts 12.18. The remaining CBC was completely normal. Throat/ear is still very sore at times and still red. Finished antibiotic yesterday Possibly slightly improved.

there are few studies to give us a firm estimate of the effectiveness of azithromycin for gonorrhea of the throat but I would guess that it is likely to cure your infection.
Hey guys. I have had a sore throat for 3 or more weeks now. I'm a hypochondriac so it is worrying me more than it would normal people, I'm sure.
The soreness is dull and is most noticeable when breathing. The feeling is between my collarbone and Adam's Apple in my throat. The only other real symptom I have is heart palpitations or a consciousness of my heart beating in my throat occasionally.
I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?
I suspect that the medication you received was azithromycin which is a recommended therapy for NGU (as is doxycycline). More and more health care providers use azithromycin because if is easier to take (you just take it once instead of for a week). Studies show that this therapy is just as effective as doxy for NGU.
As I read your story, I find myself wondering if your NGU was actually an STD.
I went to a dr and started a zpack and cefuroxime and later that day had a throat swab for strep, chlamydia and gonorrhea. I had already had 500mg of cefuroxime and 500mg of Azithromycin before the throat swab.
They turned out negative after several days.
The next morning a NAA urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Also negative.
Five days after exposure I started getting slight burning in my urethra and urgency to urinate.

I was diagnosed with Strep Throat about 2 weeks ago. I went one week taking Amoxicillin 3 times a day. By the next Monday, I was worse. I called my doctor, who changed me to Azithromycin. My laryngitis is better. Most of the sore throat is gone. However, I still have sore swollen glands, and I still have a large white pocket in my throat (Next to my Faucial Pillars). Is this typical? How long should I give it for the white patch and gland stuff to go away?
I have had a sore throat for a month now. I took azithromycin, the 5 days course, but it did not help. I had also taken clindamycin a week before due to also having a uti. I noticed that the sore throat cleared up a little while on clindamycin, but it returned. When I had gone to my doctor after two weeks of having a sore throat, she told me that she guesses that it is tonsillitis, but the test came back negative for an infection.
