At the time i had a sinus infection and completed a course of Azithromycin. The Azithromycin did not clear the sinus infection so i was put on Cefdinir at 300 mg twice a day for one week. My hope was that if i had anything one of these two antibiotics would clear it up. Yesterday i went to doctor due to still having the burning after urination. I was given a pee test and then prescibed 10 days of Cipro 500 mg twice a day.
I was perscribed a single 1000mg tablet of Azithromycin (Zithromax). I took it at about 6pm and half way through the night, my neck (sternocleidomastoid near where it connects to my head) was very sore and swollen, my glands dont seem swollen though. Also felt sinus congestion and all around lousy. I have felt this way for over 60hours. Is this a side effect of Azithromycin? Does anyone have any other info for what might cause this?
I just finished taking Azithromycin yesterday for what must of been a bacterial infection of my sinuses and lungs. It started as a cold. The cold went away but I was experiencing shortness of breath and post nasal drip that just wasn't subsiding. I went to two doctors. The first doctor prescribed a corticosteroid nasal spray (Omnaris). This helped a bit for the post nasal drip but wasn't addressing the shortness of breath or chronic cough that wasn't going away on its own.
I had a sinus infection when I was in my mid 20 weeks and was prescribed Augmenten (sp?)- the dr who prescribed it said it was fine to take while I'm pregnant. I also called my OB clinic to double check and they told me it was fine to take. If you have an infection -and the doctors know you're pregnant - take what they give you. I felt HORRIBLE before the meds and was told by my clinic they'd rather I take care of myself... Now I'm 33 weeks and doing fine.
since you took azithromycin and are on antibiotics for the sinus infection, wait a full week after you have finished them and test for gonorrhea, chlamydia and ngu. should you get any obvious lesions, be seen for proper exam. if they suspect herpes, they should do a lesion culture and typing.
My blood work showed I have mychoplasma and it manifested in a sinus infection. Azithromycin did nothing and has failed every time I have taken it for mychoplasma. Doxycycline worked and has been the only antibiotic that has ever gotten rid of mychoplasma for me or anyone I know who has had it. Most people I know who have had mycho say that Azithromycin was like taking a placebo and they either had to take Doxy or Leviquin to get rid of it.
To address my sinus infection he diagnosed azithromycin with 500 mg the first day then 250 mg the next four days. My questions are this:
1) Without noticeable symptoms to my genitals, the eye and sinus infection do not seem to be indicators of an STD but a garden variety infection. Is that true?
2) Would the azithromycin dosage he prescribed remedy NGU if I did have it?
I was also just taking a 5 day dose pack of azithromycin for a sinus infection. I started having heart palpatations as well. I have tachycardia anyways so I didn't really associate it with the medicine. It really started worrying me when my left arm started feeling weak and tingling. This usually also happens when I have an SVT attack but it goes away quickly. This tingling lasted all day. My heart palpatations were more frequent as well.

2 Is my wife at risk for an STD she was also on the second day of a zpack for a sinus infection when we had sex.
3 how long should I monitor for symptoms before I can put this behind me and assume i am in the clear, if i have no discharge or painful urination.
4 Can i assume that painful urination would be unmistakable?
I am of course concerned over the small but possible chance of getting an STD, however I had been on Azithromycin for a sinus infection starting the 5 day treatment one week prior, I had only taken 3 or 4 days worth of the z-pac, so I had not taken it for 3 to 4 days prior to the encounter. I had 750 mg of pills left (my wife stopped her treatment early as well). Within 5 hours of the encounter I took all of them as I have read Z-pac is the catch-all STD antibiotic.
I'm experiencing headaches everyday usually starting around noon. It's a throbbing pulsating pain located near the brow region (bilateral) and reaches up to the forehead. I am a man who received unprotected oral sex from a CSW last week (6 days ago). Brief encounter (<5min). In an unrelated note 3 days ago I began treatment for a sinus infection. This treatment is azithromycin (zpak total of 1500 mg over 5 days). Today, I am 1000 mg into the medication and I had a milky discharge during a bowel movement. Two weeks ago I have a severe sinus infection, the doctor prescribed some azithromycin, prednisone, and hydrocodone cough syrup, I only took the cough syrup twice, it was too strong and made me hallucinate. However, I now have a stiff neck that is extremely painful at times. It wakes me up in the middle of the night and I can't continue to stay in bed. Would the time line of treatment suggest I had been cured of any infection supposing there was one to begin with? I have a sinus infection and have been on augmenting for about two days now. Prior to this I used a store bought uti test and after about 5mins it appears I have leukocytes in urine while my first dipstick taken at time of initial Std test had none. What is the significance of this? Thanks I'm freaking out.
Ive had no problems with my eyes, in feb 2008 i got lasik, june 2009 i was in vegas and got a sinus infection. after recovery from sinus infection ive had watery left eye., rubbing it with my hands seemed to have caused an infection., mucus in my left eye., after seing an optomologist and getting on zymar + azithromycin + benadryl, the tearing + mucus in eye has reduced.

I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections.

It progressively got worse so that night I went to ER and they prescribed Azithromycin for a sinus infection. It has almost been 48 hours since I started the antibiotic and I have had ZERO relief. No improvement whatsoever. Called doc back today and they suggested I try Sudafed.. and still nothing. I've sat by a humidifier, used a netti pot, tried clove oil, Tylenol, orajel, warm and cold compresses. Not even hydrocodone has helped the pain. NOTHING.
t anything to worry about. My anxiety is putting the timing of sinus infection and this encounter in alot of what ifs. I feel awful as I am married and worried that I have passed something onto her because of the time frames the antibiotics take to work. Is my anxiety and guilt taking over my head? No discharge no pain from penis but im 13 days later from last pill and slight inflammed penis tip opening.
Hi, around 4 days ago I got sore throat following by a few mouth ucler (2 on the tongue). Then after 2 days (yesterday morning) my upper lip went a bit numb and really dry. Today the numbness is gone but still extremely dry no matter what I do. So in the afternoon I went to the doctor, and he told me I have an infection, didn't say anything else and prescribe me with "Azithromycin Monohydrate Tables". The problem is now my left eyes is completely red and a bit itchy.
I took azithromizin 500mg one a day for 6 days for a sinus infection I had at the time and still had the burning and pain with no discharge. I have just started taking Levaquin 500mg once a day. So my questions are what Std's could I have gotten from my female partner doing oral sex on me? Will the antibiotics take care of naything I could have contracted when she performed oral sex on me. Also, the day after the oral sex i had unprotected intercourse with another female partner.
