Avatar f tn Just diagnosed with a 43% ejection fraction and my doctor prescribed Avapro. Is this the proper treatment?? He gave me samples of 150 mg tablets and said I could cut them in half and just take a half a pill once a day. What do you think about that?
786158 tn?1236397775 I have a long family history of heart disease and have high blod pressure (taking avapro) and gerd(taking protonix) I have noticed a frequency in the pvc's since i started the avapro and protonix. Do i need to do any further testing? Do you think that these pvc's are increasing do to the meds? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn The medication prescribed to me is Avapro HCT 150mg/12.5mg (Irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) taken once daily (1 tablet) mainly to help ensure the blood pressure remains under 140 systolic, which is believed to help reduce the pressure on the aorta and root. I am booked in for a second opinion with another cardiologist next week mainly to re-assure myself and my wife (and kids) that things are chugging along okay.
Avatar n tn Broke through Verapamil now on Atenolol and dose has been raised.. recently have high blood pressure and now want to add avapro to the regieme.... any answers? 45 year old woman with child 9 yrs old.
Avatar m tn Hx: Hubby 47 has had HBP for 1 year? systolic(136-150) dyastoic(104 118). Heart rate high 90's or 100 - 110. Took Avapro o/d x 1 month July/08. Stress test after second appt. was okay. Cholesterol ok. BP still up. ie: dyastolic 108 - 118. Ht rate 100 - 120. Hubbies father has MI at age 51 died. Hubbies bro at 49 had a massage coronary and died. (2002). Family doc doesn't seem concerned. I think his heart rate is too high. His dyastolic pressure is still high.
Avatar m tn If a person is treating with the PI drugs and fails to get SVR.does it mean that you cant use the PI`s ever again.this is what im gathering from what ive been reading ...looks like its do or you know what....man...sometimes i wonder how i deal with all thie stuff.
Avatar m tn Maybe one day they will use the PI as maintenance for the ones who dont respond to SOC and PI drugs.Ive heard of aids people liiving a lot longer now because of the PI`s too. Some are with aids for 25 years and still doing ok. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away, But if the doctor is cute forget the fruit.
Avatar n tn I had been taking 150 mg of avapro for 10 years for high blood pressure. I recently lost 25 pounds and was able to maintain my blood pressure on 75 mg. in fact with a home machine my blood pressure is consistently low. It never goes above 106/70 and most often is 90-97/70-75. Would it be safe to stop taking the medication to see if I can keep the pressure from getting high? Or would it be safer to cut the pill in half and if so, for how long?
Avatar f tn Rash is mainly on left eye and one spot on cheek, small rash on right eye. I do sleep on left side. Other med is Avapro for HBP and I have been on that for 2 years. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I take avapro for blood pressure, immovane for sleep and now to quell the anxiety. I have frequent ophthalmic migraines (all sparkly lights, no pain) and have a pain migraine every two weeks or so. I can't get anyone to help me and with every week I am that much less functioning. Oh, I've also gained 40 lbs in six months; mostly belly fat. Please!! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Home remedies while I wait to get a doc to take me seriously?
Avatar m tn One day I ate some white rice, sugar suddenly fall to 8 mmol, then even a tiny piece of roti was dropping suddenly. Blood pressure increased, Took avapro, started eating more protein. But I did not get any medical support. Family doctor says, I do not know, hospital says go to family doctor. Family doctor did not give any specialist. However after 5 months, sugar settled between 8 mmol to 11 mmol without medicine. But I was eating less carb, mostly vegetable and rotein.
751342 tn?1534360021 I knew it would work! They want me to extend out to 52 weeks, though. I already decided to take myself off the study after the 12 weeks of the study drugs. My job is on the line, I start Grad school in the fall, and I've had just about every side effect there is from the SOC drugs. It would have been nice to get the PI in the beginning, but it didn't happen. I was still detectable at week 16 on those 2, and they are the ones causing me to be so sick! OK, done with my rant.
Avatar f tn He was told to do laser PI to prevent the glucoma first. Just wonder if the laser PI is needed and is it will worsen the catarct situation since he plans to have the cataract removed at least 6-9 months later.
232778 tn?1217447111 I was thinking about this recently. If somebody try's a PI, and fails / builds resistance to that PI, then re-infects somebody else in the general population with Hep C - won't the disease gain resistance to that PI? The new mutation could spread, and become the standard for Hep C (given the new resistance, will make it live longer). Are PI's a short term fix, that the virus will eventaully become resistant to?
Avatar n tn A year ago, my doctor gave me Lescol/Fluvastatin to take because I am a high risk for heart disease due to genetics and diabetes. At that time my Lipids were within normal range. After a month, ALT/AST results were very elevated. and medication was discontinued. Since then, I've gone through ultrasound, HiDa Scan and finally diagnose of fatty liver. The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage.
Avatar m tn m on BP medication (avapro 150mg). My BP is usually in check running around 118/70. No family history of heart disease (except Dad passed away from cardiomyapthy, was determined to be a non-genetic virus that attacked his heart). I'm 30 years old, 5'11 195 lbs. I try to eat pretty healthy, lots of fruits and veggies. Exercise a few times a week. I've had the following tests done.
1243333 tn?1296446902 Thanks, they have tried Hydrochloride, Toprol-XL ,aliskiren Oral Tablet ,Clonidine pill, HCTZ Lisinopril, Avapro, Avalide, & Bystolic I had allergic reactions to the lisinopril and one of the others and not sure why they switched me from a couple of the others, Thanks so much, Babs
Avatar m tn Good article on PI drug treatment regimens by IAmTheWalrus http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn If your talking about the third drug being the PI as info they have not been approved for genotype 2, 3 and 4. If you are genotype 1 some insurance companies will initially deny the PI because it is so costly. Your doctor will have to start an appeal process with the insurance company which may take a little time but usually in the end the PI is approved.
Avatar m tn I vote for boceprevir since it has a 4 week lead-in before starting the PI. If you clear in the first 4 weeks of TX, you are responsive to interferon and do not need to add a PI with all its extra side effects and risks.
Avatar n tn ijust started taking pills for thriods (synthriod)and high blood presuer (avapro)about a mounth now. so just wandring if this can cause me to have lows like this. and would like to know what would happen if you go to low like a coma and no one is around to help a person to get out of a low thats realy bad. thankyou.
751342 tn?1534360021 It has been trending downwards, but appears to be slowing down. I am actually hopeful for the PI. This one is a second generation from Teleprevir and Boceprevir, so I think the hope is it is even better than the other 2. I am hoping to see UND at my next visit on the 16th. The good news is I think I will either have good news meanwhile or go off at 28 weeks at most total. I am actually pretty hopeful for the PI to do it's magic.
Avatar m tn Well, to state the obvious, you'd have to have a date for the PI availability in order to time it right. But I wouldn't like to have a tx plan with a date in it that I couldn't trust. However, in general I've wondered too how it would work out to do the PI in the last 4 weeks of tx when the virus is either already dead or on it's last legs, just to make sure and finish it off. That might work well for some potential relapsers.
