Common Questions and Answers about Avapro diabetes

avalide

Avatar f tn Just diagnosed with a 43% ejection fraction and my doctor prescribed Avapro. Is this the proper treatment?? He gave me samples of 150 mg tablets and said I could cut them in half and just take a half a pill once a day. What do you think about that?
Avatar n tn 7 means that your diabetes is in control. I am a retired RN, diabetes was not my specialty, but after reading much about it, I have to agree with my Dr. If you are checking your blood glucose levels, and you're getting anything higher than 150 after eating, that is too high.
Avatar f tn I am a Diabetic and on a lot of Medication, Novamix-Insilin,Avapro, Vytorin, Thyroxin,Zanidip, Nexium and Iron Tabs,Aspirin and gaviscon.I get so much painful itch in my whole body when I come out of shower, or I go out in the cold wind.

Do i need to do any further testing? Do you think that these pvc's are increasing do to the meds? Thanks so much!

Avatar n tn The medication prescribed to me is Avapro HCT 150mg/12.5mg (Irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) taken once daily (1 tablet) mainly to help ensure the blood pressure remains under 140 systolic, which is believed to help reduce the pressure on the aorta and root. I am booked in for a second opinion with another cardiologist next week mainly to re-assure myself and my wife (and kids) that things are chugging along okay.
Avatar n tn Broke through Verapamil now on Atenolol and dose has been raised.. recently have high blood pressure and now want to add avapro to the regieme.... any answers? 45 year old woman with child 9 yrs old.
Avatar m tn Hx: Hubby 47 has had HBP for 1 year? systolic(136-150) dyastoic(104 118). Heart rate high 90's or 100 - 110. Took Avapro o/d x 1 month July/08. Stress test after second appt. was okay. Cholesterol ok. BP still up. ie: dyastolic 108 - 118. Ht rate 100 - 120. Hubbies father has MI at age 51 died. Hubbies bro at 49 had a massage coronary and died. (2002). Family doc doesn't seem concerned. I think his heart rate is too high. His dyastolic pressure is still high.
Avatar n tn I had been taking 150 mg of avapro for 10 years for high blood pressure. I recently lost 25 pounds and was able to maintain my blood pressure on 75 mg. in fact with a home machine my blood pressure is consistently low. It never goes above 106/70 and most often is 90-97/70-75. Would it be safe to stop taking the medication to see if I can keep the pressure from getting high? Or would it be safer to cut the pill in half and if so, for how long?
Avatar f tn Rash is mainly on left eye and one spot on cheek, small rash on right eye. I do sleep on left side. Other med is Avapro for HBP and I have been on that for 2 years. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I take avapro for blood pressure, immovane for sleep and now to quell the anxiety. I have frequent ophthalmic migraines (all sparkly lights, no pain) and have a pain migraine every two weeks or so. I can't get anyone to help me and with every week I am that much less functioning. Oh, I've also gained 40 lbs in six months; mostly belly fat. Please!! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Home remedies while I wait to get a doc to take me seriously?
Avatar m tn m on BP medication (avapro 150mg). My BP is usually in check running around 118/70. No family history of heart disease (except Dad passed away from cardiomyapthy, was determined to be a non-genetic virus that attacked his heart). I'm 30 years old, 5'11 195 lbs. I try to eat pretty healthy, lots of fruits and veggies. Exercise a few times a week. I've had the following tests done.

Avatar f tn I had to have a hysterectomy at the age of 42 due to multiple complicated cycts of the ovaries; I have hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes, COPD emphezema and am considered medically obese. Two years ago I had an echo but the results were noted as inclusive as it stated they were unable to obtain a clear image. My Dr. ordered the cardiac CT to ensure that my breathing issues were not impacting my heart. It's not one event that puzzles me but the culmination of multipe events.
Avatar f tn He is taking to kinds of tablet , Duride in the morning 1 whole tablet, avapro, lipitor 20mg, lasixs and 5mg of the beta blocker. He used to take 1/2 a noten tablet before the beta blocker. He has said that he thinks he has a bladder infection and doesnt want to drink fluids after 7pm at night so he wont need to get up during the night. Is this a bad sign??
1384238 tn?1286028762 Treated with 3 different meds (HCTZ, Avapro and Atenolol), suddenly, approximately 4 weeks ago I began getting dizzy spells quite frequently. My pressure during these spells is quite low, often 90/60 or a bit lower. The doc has done CT scan, no brain tumor, blood work, nothing remarkable, urinalysis, nada, she keeps throwing things like Lupus, Parkinson's, ALS at me and now I am terrified! Wouldn't the blood work eliminate some if not all of these diseases.
Avatar n tn I hope you are seeing an endocrinologist since you also have diabetes. He will most likely be able to do the best job dealing with both the hypo and diabetes. More than likely, he will Rx Synthroid or another form of thyroid replacement medication and have your blood tested every 4-6 weeks or hopefully sooner. He can then adjust the dosage of meds according to your TSH level. I don't believe your heart problem has anything to do with your thyroid, but I am no doctor.
291222 tn?1210048328 My last echo showed an ef of 37. I have since been placed on Coreg, Avapro, Nitroquick, Lasix, Potassium, Imdur and Lisinapril. My angiogram was normal and as of today I have not had any heart attacks. I try to walk to improve my condition, but, I am usually too short of breath to take a shower. I had a pacemaker implanted when I was 26 because my heart rate was dropping to 21 bpm. I am very concerned that my days are numbered. What questions should I be asking my physician?
287996 tn?1312023682 There are a number of medications to treat this condition such as Coreg, Avapro etc as there are a number of new procedures to surgically assist in the treatment. Also I would advise the addition of 2 supplements to your medications COQ10 dosage depends on weight etc I take 400MG per day. Also L-Carnitine I take 100mg per day.
Avatar n tn I have high blood pressure, take three meds.( atenenol, avapro, monoxidil, and a statin) At least one med suggests that ankle swelling could result. An echocardigram awhile back suggested that my heart may be a bit sluggish as breath is expelled. I do not fatigue easily - people often comment on my activity level. I am trying to get used to a Cpap machine. I am 82 years old, but, again, they say I look like someone in my 60ies.
Avatar f tn After having had every test in the book, I was diagnosed with PACNS almost 3 years ago, and the course has been unremitting. The original presentation was headache (not thunderclap) loss of executive function and memory, visual disturbances, 7 strokes 9ischemic) and a drop of at least 40 !Q points on neuropsyche testing. I have tried both MTX and AZA, but both make me violently ill. I'm back to the CTX -150 mg/day,now, and it seems to be finally keeping the brain fog away.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone am 12 weeks and they called me from a specialist office making me appts and i asked the lady why and she like u have diabetes ??? So now am scared and dont want to eat anything cuz i dont know if it will harm my baby.... But what am really upset if that my ob dident call and told me the news???? Has anyone been threw this???
Avatar f tn HBA1C measures average blood sugar over the past 3 months. It can be a useful screening test and for monitoring diabetes progress / progression. However, it can also be misleading as highs and lows can average out to give something that looks normal, but actually isn't. Fasting and 2 h ours post eating are also useful and can guide diet and treatment on a day to day basis. If you are diabetic both fasting, post prandial and HBA1C are useful to be monitored.
