Avapro and potassium

Common Questions and Answers about Avapro and potassium

avalide

Avatar f tn Just diagnosed with a 43% ejection fraction and my doctor prescribed Avapro. Is this the proper treatment?? He gave me samples of 150 mg tablets and said I could cut them in half and just take a half a pill once a day. What do you think about that?
786158 tn?1236397775 I have a long family history of heart disease and have high blod pressure (taking avapro) and gerd(taking protonix) I have noticed a frequency in the pvc's since i started the avapro and protonix. Do i need to do any further testing? Do you think that these pvc's are increasing do to the meds? Thanks so much!
291222 tn?1210048328 My last echo showed an ef of 37. I have since been placed on Coreg, Avapro, Nitroquick, Lasix, Potassium, Imdur and Lisinapril. My angiogram was normal and as of today I have not had any heart attacks. I try to walk to improve my condition, but, I am usually too short of breath to take a shower. I had a pacemaker implanted when I was 26 because my heart rate was dropping to 21 bpm. I am very concerned that my days are numbered. What questions should I be asking my physician?
Avatar f tn I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide. None of this makes sense to me or to my doctors since I should be back where this all began the middle of March when I took this antibiotic and had this episode.
Avatar n tn The medication prescribed to me is Avapro HCT 150mg/12.5mg (Irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) taken once daily (1 tablet) mainly to help ensure the blood pressure remains under 140 systolic, which is believed to help reduce the pressure on the aorta and root. I am booked in for a second opinion with another cardiologist next week mainly to re-assure myself and my wife (and kids) that things are chugging along okay.
Avatar f tn She was in a coma for 4 days and then awoke. They did coronary angiography on day 5 and found very healthy coronary arteries. On day 6 they implanted an ICD and diagnosis of "Rule Out Long QT Syndrome". My youngest sister (age 50) had been experiencing tachycardia on almost daily basis up to 170 beats per minute. After our older sister's arrest and the possible diagnosis of Long QT Syndrome, my youngest sister went to cardiologist.
Avatar m tn I'm not diabetic, at least not yet anyway. But, unfortunately, I do drink a lot of soda and have done so for a long time. And, in the past when I've tried to stop cold-turkey, I often have episodes of low blood sugar (shakes, sweats, confusion), so I end up back drinking sodas for fear of having another episode.
Avatar n tn Broke through Verapamil now on Atenolol and dose has been raised.. recently have high blood pressure and now want to add avapro to the regieme.... any answers? 45 year old woman with child 9 yrs old.
Avatar n tn ijust started taking pills for thriods (synthriod)and high blood presuer (avapro)about a mounth now. so just wandring if this can cause me to have lows like this. and would like to know what would happen if you go to low like a coma and no one is around to help a person to get out of a low thats realy bad. thankyou.
Avatar n tn I've always had low pottassium and always had to eat a banana everyday. I also have Graves Disease, had hyperthyroidism and had RAI (radioactive iodine) then a Thyroidectomy. I never associated the two. I thought my low pottassium was from heart issues being born with a heart murmur. Maybe it does both fall together. Just get on the bananas and take a pottasium supplement everyday until the levels increase.
Avatar n tn They have a much higher amount of potassium (99mg is the minimum daily requirement). I had terrible leg cramps and started eating a couple bananas a day and snacking on raisins, and I rarely get them anymore.
Avatar n tn It does not specify which side effects are from potassium being too high and which are associated with it being too low, but you could certainly google "potassium too high" and get some good information.
Avatar f tn Last year I had NO potassium and ended up in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for five days. The shots are very painful but they do have potassium pills. I think they give you the pills after they have gotten some measure of potassium back into you. Please be extremely careful about this.
Avatar f tn blood test they said the urine came back fine but I had to go back a week later for my blood resaults so I go back kidneys and all came back good except my potassium it was 7.5.
Avatar n tn ve been browsing internet sites to gather information and saw that there is a link between high potassium levels and thyroid problems. My initial thyroid blood tests came up normal, TSH 1.47, T4Free 0.95 and T3,Free 312. my thyroglobulin antibodies were slightly high, at 21 and thyroid peroxidase antibodies were less than 10. The next blood labs, done in the hospital, were TSH .69, free T$ 0.74 and "normal" thyroid gland antibodies.
437036 tn?1225284804 Mornin' Toots, Many folks have more than one "issue" in the mix. I think you will find, if you browse through some of the posts here, that you are not alone. I'm no expert and certainly do NOT possess a medical degree and more than likely am wrong, but it's my GUESS that a person with OCD may not have any anxiety problems. They probably don't like washing their hands a million times a day or checking that they turned the oven off......
Avatar m tn Sorry can't help on the question about potassium and its relationship to hemoglobin. I know iron usually raises hemoglobin, but high iron isn't always good for the liver, either... maybe for the time being adding just a little more iron-rich food to your diet (red meat, broccoli, dark greens, etc.) to give you a little hgb boost? Hopefully someone who's better at the biochemistry will pop in. I know you must feel crummy...!
Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
Avatar f tn That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium. I starting concentrating on foods with potassium such as bananas and also increased my supplement to two a day instead of one. Now, lately, on top of the fatigue I was already having (from other issues?) I have been feeling swimmy-headed and having a lot of headaches as well as increased feeling of exhaustion. I am wondering if I am taking in too much potassium now.
Avatar m tn he gave me toprol xl 50 mg. and my bp and pulse still goes high sometimes but for the most part it made a huge difference.and of course he told me to watch my salt intake, caffeine, and niccotine,i'm not a doctor but my opinion from my experiences it may not be a major concern right now,but still a concern especially if it stays that high for long periods of time.so i would atleast try to get meds for it.
Avatar n tn So I searched in the app world that could help me show the doctor that my BP readings are consistent and I am active, sleep well and eat low salt food. After some research I found this android app called "jivayu" (https://www.jivayu.com), start logging my BP and also wore the activity tracker from Jawbone. It creates a chart of my BP, activity, sleep and salt intake in a single page. So when I took the chart to the doctor, he noticed the consistency in my numbers.
Avatar f tn Rash is mainly on left eye and one spot on cheek, small rash on right eye. I do sleep on left side. Other med is Avapro for HBP and I have been on that for 2 years. Thank you!
Avatar m tn I am very slightly overweight, but exercise everyday for an hour on the stair master and elliptical trainer at moderate intensity. I weigh 205 pounds and 6ft 1" tall. Here are the results: ECG - Normal Carotid Doppler Carotid Bilateral - Normal, both sides clear, normal waveforms ECG Stress Test - Normal functionality. Reached target easily. No breathlessness. Echocardiogram - All normal, normal sizes and areas except left ventricle wall thickness moderately thick at 1.
Avatar f tn I take avapro for blood pressure, immovane for sleep and now to quell the anxiety. I have frequent ophthalmic migraines (all sparkly lights, no pain) and have a pain migraine every two weeks or so. I can't get anyone to help me and with every week I am that much less functioning. Oh, I've also gained 40 lbs in six months; mostly belly fat. Please!! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Home remedies while I wait to get a doc to take me seriously?
431644 tn?1236899573 I got a call from dr have to take potassium for 3 days. Mine was 3.1 and normal is 3.4. The MCHC was high also. Went to walmart with hub lastnight and couldn't breath and shook all over heart racing and then finally stopped. Then came home and did it gain at bedtime. Always at bedtime it seems for me or mornings. Weird.......
Avatar n tn I had hyperthyroidism (had a PT), and I had low potassium; I still do. I eat a lot of bananas and apples, but the endo wants me to take potassium supplements as well. It seems to me it has to do with the thyroid, but getting an answer from the endo on it seems to be impossible!
