Appendicitis ultrasound ct scan

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis ultrasound ct scan

appendicitis

Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! A CT scan is the best test for diagnosing an appendicitis. If you have had a CT scan with contrast of your abdomen and it came back negative, then you can rule out appendicitis.
Avatar f tn pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst. My gynecologist didn't give me many explanations, so I've searched for my simptoms online.
Avatar m tn I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT.
Avatar f tn So since on Ultrasound it was highly showed appendicitis they took me right away to have a CT Scan with contrast which didn’t show any inflammation of appendix but showed two cysts on right ovary largest measures 2.1cm. So doctor in ER confirmed that my right quadrant stomach pain is due to the cysts. I have an appointment with my regular primary care doctor at the VA tomorrow for follow up from the ER visit.
Avatar n tn chronic involvement of appendix (many a times ultrasound misses this as the appendix in such cases is hidden behind loops of intestine and typical symptoms of appendicitis are absent), involvement of kidney and inflammation of your intestine. A CT scan would give a more clear picture and the radiation level is not high to cause any harm. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn “Unusual hazy soft tissue density structure along the right lateral heart within the pericardial fat, its density is similar to thymus, however, this would be an unusual location as the thymus is no in the superior anterior chest, possibly ectopic thymus or mass. RECOMMEND CT of the chest without contrast for further evaluation.” Has anyone had something similar? What could this possibly be?
Avatar m tn I suspected appendicitis. We went to the emergency room where they did an ultrasound and a CT scan. The scan showed a peculiar result - the appendix appeared somewhat inflamed but her intestines had also gotten partially twisted. The doctor wasn't sure if it was appendicitis or if it was just the torsion that was causing the pain. If it was the torsion, then it could become untwisted over time.
Avatar m tn t show all the signs, I might have appendicitis, and I should get an abdominal/pelvis CT scan. I somehow failed to mention my previous CT scan and just went along with it because I heard appendicitis and freaked. I told the person administering the scan and she didn't seem to think anything of it, but then again she was a nurse. After it turned out to just be a swollen lymph node, I am sitting here thinking I have exposed myself to extreme amounts of radiation and at 21 years of age too.
Avatar m tn When I eventually reached out for help in early September I was rushed to the E.R. for a possible appendicitis. The CT Scan in the E.R. showed that I had borderline appendicitis due to the appendicitis not filling with the contrast fully and the mesenteric lymph nodes of the area being “shoddy”. I was given Cipro and Flagyl for two weeks to see if that would fight the infection. After an ultrasound, they found my appendix healed completely.
Avatar n tn ca-125 level is very high but in ct scan there is no symptom of cancer. Doctors have advised for third surgery for removal of hernia.P lease suggest what to do in this case.
Avatar f tn t be causing me my pain. She said my symptoms sounded like appendicitis and sent me to the hospital for a CT scan. The scan came back normal. The following day the pain increased and I went to the ER. They also saw the cyst on ultrasound and admitted me for further tests. Spent 4 days in that hospital with a colonoscopy done (also normal). I told them it may be a hernia and they called a gen surgeon to examine me.
Avatar f tn I have been to the gynecologist recently and she sent me to have an ultrasound and later, a CT scan. The ultra sound showed a cyst on my left ovary but none on my right. A week or two later, when I had the CT scan, the cyst had decreased in size. Nothing was found on the right side where the pain is. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago and everything was fine. If I did have a hernia, do you think it would have shown up during the colonoscopy?
Avatar f tn When in the ER, they did a pelvic exam to rule out PID, and were going to do an ultrasound to rule out appendicitis but decided not to when my bloodwork came back and my white blood cell count was only slightly elevated. I've been dealing with the pain which remains in the same exact spot just to the left of my right hip bone, and finally it got to be bad enough that I went to a gastroenterologist.
Avatar n tn About 8 months ago I experienced moderate weight gain. I had significant bloating of the stomach and had trouble wearing pants. I would have a dull ache on some occasions. Sometimes the pain felt like it spread downwards and to my back. It was like a cramp feeling. I felt very full and was always thirsty. I urinated a lot due to drinking so much water. The pains were never sharp. I looked so bloated even though my diet was regular and did not consist of too much dairy or salt.
Avatar f tn For almost a week I've been having RLQ pain. Went to er 5 days ago and was told could be ovarian cyst or early stages of apendicitis. Told to come back if pain got worse. Next day I had a bout of severe pain that lasted about 45 minutes, but went away before I could leave the house.(I'm blind so had to wait for a ride) Since then (4 days now) I've been running a fever from 99.1 to 100.4 and am still having pain ranging from a dull ache to moderatly severe. .Should I go back to dr.
Avatar n tn The pain was constant at first then less frequent but still as intense. Her blood tests, CT scan and ultrasound were normal. She had not previously had a pelvic exam and is not sexually active. The doctor did a manual exam. The ultrasound was confined mainly to an external look. Her period started today and she was still experiencing pain. She has had cramps before but not this kind of intense sharp pain. What are we looking at?
Avatar n tn I recently had a CT scan the doctors thought I had kidney stones or appendicitis only to find a 8.4 cm x7.2 cm x 4.3 cm multicystic structure on my right adnexal with soft tissue centrally that maybe related to ovarian tissue. I have a gyn appointment for an ultrasound. What is the chance that it is ovarian cancer, since it is so big is there a great chance that it could be more dangerous. Thanks for your help.
5485096 tn?1375574235 Recurring pain on right side should be seriously investigated for appendicitis and colitis. An ultrasound (even if CT was negative) and a stool test should help clinch or refute the diagnosis. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar f tn Please can someone let me know why I have to have an urgent ultrasound scan if they could see it on the CT. I am really worried because my cousin is 36 and has bowel cancer. Thank you.
Avatar n tn GI issues have been ruled out with the CT scan (appendicitis, pancreatitis, gallstones, obstructions, etc even kidney infections and stones as UA was clear). I wonder if anyone out there knows what else this might be. He is currently on Bentyl and Nexium from the PCP, and has a GI appointment today. I'm just very concerned that the GI doc will not find anything since the 'traditional' GI issues were ruled out.
Avatar f tn Last year (11-25-07) i went to my local er for pain in my lower right side I was immediatley diagnosed with appendicitis had a Ct scan found a 1.6 cm cyst on right ovary with free flowing fluid. I proceeded to go to my family physician whom sent me to an ob gyn (12-27_07) i had an vaginal ultrasound was told there wasn't any thing there. Since then I have been in constant pain I kept complaining to my dr who sent me for another Ct scan (5-16-08) this time they saw a 1.
