Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis ct scan

appendicitis

Avatar m tn “Unusual hazy soft tissue density structure along the right lateral heart within the pericardial fat, its density is similar to thymus, however, this would be an unusual location as the thymus is no in the superior anterior chest, possibly ectopic thymus or mass. RECOMMEND CT of the chest without contrast for further evaluation.” Has anyone had something similar? What could this possibly be?
Avatar f tn A CT scan is the best test for diagnosing an appendicitis. If you have had a CT scan with contrast of your abdomen and it came back negative, then you can rule out appendicitis.
Avatar m tn t show all the signs, I might have appendicitis, and I should get an abdominal/pelvis CT scan. I somehow failed to mention my previous CT scan and just went along with it because I heard appendicitis and freaked. I told the person administering the scan and she didn't seem to think anything of it, but then again she was a nurse. After it turned out to just be a swollen lymph node, I am sitting here thinking I have exposed myself to extreme amounts of radiation and at 21 years of age too.
Avatar n tn ca-125 level is very high but in ct scan there is no symptom of cancer. Doctors have advised for third surgery for removal of hernia.P lease suggest what to do in this case.
Avatar m tn I want to know whether a mass could have been detected in the previous CT screening and if so why the report was like chronic appendicitis? What will be symptoms for ileocecal pathology.
Avatar f tn pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst. My gynecologist didn't give me many explanations, so I've searched for my simptoms online.
Avatar f tn I recently had a CT scan which came back as negative for spleen, appendicitis, pancrease etc.... Ive also had several different blood and urine tests to look for infections, kidney stones and thyroid problems etc.. I did have a colonoscopy approx. 5 years ago which was fine and I had an endoscopy about 3 years ago. I do have acid reflux and in the past had hemmoroids, I'm otherwise very healthy and fit. There is a history of Diverticulitis in my family.
Avatar m tn The pain persisted so I got a CT scan as well as an MRI done and a colonoscopy. and loads of blood work. Again everything came back normal. A year or so later I was given a capsule endoscopy and they thought they saw something in the photos it took so I was referred to a doctor to do a double balloon enteroscopy retrograde. Unfortunately this too came back normal and afterwards I had moderate lower right side abdominal pain.
Avatar m tn The only way to know for sure what is wrong is to go to the doctor and have an MRI or CT scan. That will give them a better idea of what is going on. No one can know for sure what is going on, but that will give them a better idea.
Avatar f tn My 14 year old daughter has had severe abdominal pain for the past 2 weeks. We have been to two different ER's, have had blood work, 2 abdominal and pelvic sonograms, and a CT scan. All results have come back fine. The WBC is not elevated. I think my child has appedicitis, but the medical community tells me no. Her pain started really 3 weeks ago, in the center, below her rib cage. The pain then moved to her belly button (about 1 inch to the right and 1 inch down).
Avatar n tn A CT scan doesn't always pick up appendicitis. Is the area tender to the touch or any associated fever?
Avatar f tn I saw an obgyn and ovaries and uterus have been ruled out. My pcp wants to send me for a CT scan of the abdomen. Is she thinkining hiatal hernia possibly caught early?? I am thin, don't always eat the best, not pregnant (my son is 8) . She says its in the area of the ileocecal valve. I have had issues with constipation throughout life. I'm in my 40's.Is there anything other she should be looking for???
328799 tn?1276565732 Im also 18 and I just got it. I had NO symptoms, and the surgery wasn't that bad. If you get symptoms get a CT scan, that's what diagnosed me.
Avatar f tn So I went to the emergency room and they tested my urine and did a ct scan. They said that the ct scan was normal but they did find blood in my urine and they suggested referred me to go see a doc in a week and sent me on my way. So I went to see the doc and they did a urinalysis and they said there was white blood cells in my urine but no bacteria grew so that meant that there wasn't an infection.
Avatar m tn I suspected appendicitis. We went to the emergency room where they did an ultrasound and a CT scan. The scan showed a peculiar result - the appendix appeared somewhat inflamed but her intestines had also gotten partially twisted. The doctor wasn't sure if it was appendicitis or if it was just the torsion that was causing the pain. If it was the torsion, then it could become untwisted over time.
Avatar n tn chronic involvement of appendix (many a times ultrasound misses this as the appendix in such cases is hidden behind loops of intestine and typical symptoms of appendicitis are absent), involvement of kidney and inflammation of your intestine. A CT scan would give a more clear picture and the radiation level is not high to cause any harm. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar f tn Went to the ER to have it checked out. They did a blood test and a urine test. Nothing unusual they said. Proceeded to do a CT scan, in which they said the results were normal. Nurse followed up by telling me to take miraLAX because I was just backed up. I had 3 bowel movements between 6pm Thursday and Friday at 5am when I woke up (the day I visited the ER). And have gone frequently since. Now over 30 hours later I have diarrhea. Could it still be appendicitis?
Avatar m tn When I eventually reached out for help in early September I was rushed to the E.R. for a possible appendicitis. The CT Scan in the E.R. showed that I had borderline appendicitis due to the appendicitis not filling with the contrast fully and the mesenteric lymph nodes of the area being “shoddy”. I was given Cipro and Flagyl for two weeks to see if that would fight the infection. After an ultrasound, they found my appendix healed completely.
Avatar f tn So since on Ultrasound it was highly showed appendicitis they took me right away to have a CT Scan with contrast which didn’t show any inflammation of appendix but showed two cysts on right ovary largest measures 2.1cm. So doctor in ER confirmed that my right quadrant stomach pain is due to the cysts. I have an appointment with my regular primary care doctor at the VA tomorrow for follow up from the ER visit.
Avatar f tn t get me in till the next week. I was hurting so bad I went to the er the doctor did a ct scan and said he seen nothing on it except a spot on my kidney i should have an mri on. I'm just wondering what is causing all this pain and if it is ovarian cyst why he did see it on the ct scan.
