Appendicitis diagnosis ct scan

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis diagnosis ct scan

appendicitis

Avatar f tn A CT scan is the best test for diagnosing an appendicitis. If you have had a CT scan with contrast of your abdomen and it came back negative, then you can rule out appendicitis.
Avatar m tn t show all the signs, I might have appendicitis, and I should get an abdominal/pelvis CT scan. I somehow failed to mention my previous CT scan and just went along with it because I heard appendicitis and freaked. I told the person administering the scan and she didn't seem to think anything of it, but then again she was a nurse. After it turned out to just be a swollen lymph node, I am sitting here thinking I have exposed myself to extreme amounts of radiation and at 21 years of age too.
Avatar m tn Hi, appendicitis as such is more of a clinical diagnosis. In chronic appendicitis what we see may just be thickening of the bowel wall or appendix on a CT scan. But usually the image findings are correlated with clinical symptoms and blood tests. If an acute infection the neutrophils are raised and if due to tuberculosis, the lymphocytes are raised in blood counts.
Avatar m tn “Unusual hazy soft tissue density structure along the right lateral heart within the pericardial fat, its density is similar to thymus, however, this would be an unusual location as the thymus is no in the superior anterior chest, possibly ectopic thymus or mass. RECOMMEND CT of the chest without contrast for further evaluation.” Has anyone had something similar? What could this possibly be?
Avatar f tn when the pain became too severe and went to the ER for assistance. He was given an antispasmodic and pain medication. It was not appendicitis, of course. The pain continued. Fecal sample was negative for parasites. His doctor took urine, blood, and had a CT scan performed yesterday. The WBC was "slightly elevated", as it was a year ago, and lymph nodes in his abdomen were slightly enlarged. His abdomen was tender to pressure in one location yesterday.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. I had a ct scan last week and dr. said normal, but was a small area of inflammation there. Her nurse called me about this and didn't say why or what would cause this. She said dr. could prescribe a steroid or anti-inflammatory to have if I had other attacks. I feel frustrated now about this.
Avatar m tn Over the past two or three days I have had a slight discomfort in my right groin/side. I went to the doctor today, and after blood and urine came back normal, she said that I still might have appendicitis and said I might want to get a CT, though I don't show normal symptoms other than pain in my RLQ. The pain isn't constant and it isn't severe and hasn't really gotten any worse.
Avatar n tn ca-125 level is very high but in ct scan there is no symptom of cancer. Doctors have advised for third surgery for removal of hernia.P lease suggest what to do in this case.
Avatar f tn pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst. My gynecologist didn't give me many explanations, so I've searched for my simptoms online.
458511 tn?1206465658 Did they run a CT scan? If you are still in pain, has gotten worse, are you short of breath, and sweaty? Can you stand up straight? Is your heart rate faster thatn normal? If you have any of these symptoms go back to the ER. In Dec. I had severe ab. pain, after suffering for several hours, I finally went to the ER. They thought I had appendicitis b/c my WBC was so high. I also had a resting heart rate on 159 (i was in a lot of pain).
Avatar f tn For almost a week I've been having RLQ pain. Went to er 5 days ago and was told could be ovarian cyst or early stages of apendicitis. Told to come back if pain got worse. Next day I had a bout of severe pain that lasted about 45 minutes, but went away before I could leave the house.(I'm blind so had to wait for a ride) Since then (4 days now) I've been running a fever from 99.1 to 100.4 and am still having pain ranging from a dull ache to moderatly severe. .Should I go back to dr.
Avatar m tn These include white blood cell count, ultrasound, bariem enema,CT scan and laproscopy. One thing that I will like to say is that sometimes diagnosis of appendicitis is tough because of the position of the appendix and other conditions which may mimic appendicitis like Meckel’s diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and kidney diseases.
Avatar f tn About 10 minutes after waking up this morning, I got severe pain in my right lower abdomen. I did some googling and it all pointed to appendicitis or kidney stones. After 3 hours of endouring the pain I went to our local small town Urgent Care. They did blood and urine labs which all came back normal. They did a abdominal CT scan because they don't have a ultra sound machine. The only thing they said and showed me was solid white spots in my stool.
5485096 tn?1375574235 I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Actually most GI issues will not show up on a CT scan. Appendicitis, especially chronic and ther bowel disorders causing chronic inflammation and thickening of bowel or bowel growths and cancer can be caught on CT scan. For conditions like IBS, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, you need to get a video encapsule endoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy, as appropriate. Conditions like celiac can be ruled out by specific blood tests.
Avatar n tn t getting severely worse, there are no other symptoms, and an appendicitis would show on a CT scan (not like black blobs).
Avatar f tn I recently had a CT scan which came back as negative for spleen, appendicitis, pancrease etc.... Ive also had several different blood and urine tests to look for infections, kidney stones and thyroid problems etc.. I did have a colonoscopy approx. 5 years ago which was fine and I had an endoscopy about 3 years ago. I do have acid reflux and in the past had hemmoroids, I'm otherwise very healthy and fit. There is a history of Diverticulitis in my family.
Avatar m tn The pain persisted so I got a CT scan as well as an MRI done and a colonoscopy. and loads of blood work. Again everything came back normal. A year or so later I was given a capsule endoscopy and they thought they saw something in the photos it took so I was referred to a doctor to do a double balloon enteroscopy retrograde. Unfortunately this too came back normal and afterwards I had moderate lower right side abdominal pain.
Avatar m tn The only way to know for sure what is wrong is to go to the doctor and have an MRI or CT scan. That will give them a better idea of what is going on. No one can know for sure what is going on, but that will give them a better idea.
Avatar m tn When I eventually reached out for help in early September I was rushed to the E.R. for a possible appendicitis. The CT Scan in the E.R. showed that I had borderline appendicitis due to the appendicitis not filling with the contrast fully and the mesenteric lymph nodes of the area being “shoddy”. I was given Cipro and Flagyl for two weeks to see if that would fight the infection. After an ultrasound, they found my appendix healed completely.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a 15 year old girl who has been dealing with stomach pain for 11 months now. In March I had created a hernia right above my belly button, and that wasn't discovered until July. I was told that the type of hernia that I had was not one that could strangulate, and if I took it easy, it would most likely heal itself. My family and I were not very worried about it.
Avatar f tn when he means redness at the opening, he is saying basicly stoll can get stuck at the opening of the apendics causeing inflamation and then the stoll may release, and not harm the apendics anymore, its vary difficult to diagnose problems like that, the best thing to do is if your having alot of pain there and you cant walk, lay on your back and have someone hit the base of your foot and if you get pain in your stomach from that, there is a good chance you have appendicitis, but you would get rea
1193880 tn?1264886865 Did they culture the sample? If they did the dipstick and did not culture the sample then they cannot tell you that it is not a UTI. Gram negative bacteria often don't show on the dipstick. I've had three UTIs in a year because of Lyme disease. Two of them showed by dipstick. The third had to be cultured. That one was positive for Klebsiella. Make sure they culture that!
Avatar f tn My 14 year old daughter has had severe abdominal pain for the past 2 weeks. We have been to two different ER's, have had blood work, 2 abdominal and pelvic sonograms, and a CT scan. All results have come back fine. The WBC is not elevated. I think my child has appedicitis, but the medical community tells me no. Her pain started really 3 weeks ago, in the center, below her rib cage. The pain then moved to her belly button (about 1 inch to the right and 1 inch down).
Avatar m tn At the ER, they did blood work, urinalysis and a CT scan without contrast. I thought maybe I was passing a stone but no history of it.. After CT scan, Doc came into room and asked how long have I been a heavy drinker,? shockingly i informed him clearly i AM NOT a drinker. "maybe" 1 beer during a special function, a glass of wine on new years but in general, not a drinker.
