appendicitis

Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar m tn If pulse is more than 80 and blood shows high TLC counts, is suggestive of appendicitis. In case of ureter stone, urine usually shows infection and ultrasound is diagnostic, pain is usually radiating in nature. Well colon pain is colicky or dull in nature, do you have recent history of diarrhea?
Avatar f tn It is important that we judge things properly, or discern. If a person with appendicitis is diagnosed as having an ulcer, it may seem a mere matter of terminology, but if judged improperly, treatment could lead to death! If a baby has a fever, you wouldn't put it in the freezer to cool it down. Treating the symptom may make the problem worse!
Avatar n tn A calcified concretion in the appendix considered diagnostic of appendicitis in the acute abdomen.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn You may be able to tell if it's appendicitis. Have her push on the area that hurts in her lower right. If it hurts more. It SHOULDN'T BE appendicitis. Most of the time appendicitis will find relief with pressure and (sadly) extreme pain when pressure is released. Also, I WOULD ask for an ultrasound because that's how my first ovarian cyst rupture presented!
Avatar m tn My relative (82 years old man), had a fever of 39 deg C one night and pain in lower right abdomen, and ultrasound showed his intestines at this part to be swollen and infected (the doc suspected appendicitis, but it was not), and he is currently on antibiotics and panadol right now. He told me that he had pain in his mid-abdomen when young too, not continuing, but on and off. And that he is very tired in the time period around his stroke until now. (start 2008) What could be the problem?
Avatar m tn It hurts to walk and I must sit down with great care, I have performed some of the tests for appendicitis such as lying supine with my right leg bent and pushing over to the left...this results in much pain. Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away.
Avatar f tn m surprised your doctor just gave you drugs for an appendicitis-- true appendicitis almost always needs surgery. Have you had your appendix looked at since then? Ask for an ultrasound or a colonoscopy. In some really rare cases, an infected appendix can lead to infection elsewhere in your abdomen/pelvis, including muscles outside your digestive tract (which might explain the pain when running).
Avatar m tn I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT.
Avatar f tn ve searched for my simptoms online. This way I found out about stump appendicitis and I got mortified it could be that. Could the CT scan have missed it? All the other organs seemed fine. Last year, I didn't develop fever or vomiting with my appendicitis, reason why it was hard to diagnose, especially because it was behind my ceccum (for 1 month doctors suspected ovary pain...until my appendix burst). Can this time be stump appendicitis and doctors mistake it for cysts again??
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar f tn I am a veteran last Thursday was brought to an outside VA ER for lower right quadrant stomach pain. They did lab work everything okay my WBC was 10.29 no fever. They did an Ultrasound which was highly susceptible for appendicitis it showed that it was not compressable, had minimal hypermiea, I was very tender and showed top normally enlarged.
Avatar n tn Last week I suffered from appendicitis and my doctor cured me by administering antibiotics. Now have a relief the inflamation is gone. But from today morning I am suffering pain in the groin area which is similar to the pain I suffered for appendicitis I wanted to know that is the pain caused by Fungal infection or medicinal reaction which was provided for appendicitis. I have not experienced similar pain in groin area before and there is no blister or rashes.
Avatar n tn Hello! I have joined this community in the hope that someone can help me! I am a female, 25 years old and I have been suffering from abdominal pain for years. The pain is usually in the right side, mid-way between my bellybutton and my hip. At times the pain is sharp and stabbing and causes me to double over in pain - I would give it a 7 out of 10 for intensity. Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation.
Avatar f tn 8. they ran a series of xrays and ultrasound which all pointed to appendicitis. doctor orderered a emergency appendectomy,by the time doctors were in his appendix had already ruptured. -My question here is, if a ultrasound was done at the other er to find that it indeed was appendicitis could it have been caught in time before it ruptured? 4 days after the appendectomy my son had to be rushed back into the OR for obstruction of his bowels.
Avatar n tn I was reading an ultrasound report and it says: right ovary measures 4.2 x 2.3 x 2.5 cm and contains a complex lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 xm. The left ovary measures 2.6 x 1.1 x 1.8 cm. Is this a major concern? One ovary seems to be quite a bit larger, and has a complex lesion. Two extra pieces of information: I was 5-weeks pregnant when this was done (currently 6-weeks) and I had breast cancer 6+ years ago. On the impression, no mention was made of it.
727090 tn?1268839348 Well actually in April I had pain and achyness in my pelvic and vaginal area and the ER did a vaginal ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound. All they found was a very small amount of fluid in my pelvis. She said that a cyst probably bursted and the body has a way of naturally absorbing the fluid. She told me it was very common to get a cyst every month around period time and it popping. Then from April to June i had a severe bouts of not being able to have bowel movements.
Avatar f tn When in the ER, they did a pelvic exam to rule out PID, and were going to do an ultrasound to rule out appendicitis but decided not to when my bloodwork came back and my white blood cell count was only slightly elevated. I've been dealing with the pain which remains in the same exact spot just to the left of my right hip bone, and finally it got to be bad enough that I went to a gastroenterologist.
Avatar n tn My wife has had ultrasound today, and here is the report. I would like to know if this is something we should be worried about. The consultant is suggesting surgery to remove the cysts. We are really worried - please help. --- The uterus appears normal. It measures approximately 8.8cm in length with a 4mm symmetrical endometrium. The right ovary appears normal. The left ovary is enlarged to an overall maximum dimension of approximately 8cm by 3 separate but contiguous lesions.
552053 tn?1273331741 I would ask your doctor to check you for appendicitis- have an ultrasound, blood work, x-rays, whatever is needed to rule this out - the last thing you want is to end up having to have emergency surgery and/or your appendix bursting. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I dint think they treat for appendicitis. Although isnt appendicitis ridiculously painful? Mine is a cramping in my pelvis and alot of discomfort and bloating in my abdomen. Another 2lb gone overnight! A total of 16lb loss in 4 weeks!
Avatar f tn I have been having intermittent bouts of description would be a dull needle like feeling mostly right of my belly button say 2 inches beside maybe and on the less often bouts that pain can be feeling on the left side same distance from my belly button that does seem to hurt much more if it happens on that left side but it almost always occurs to the, right side, with this and or without this pain kind of best described to be like a dull knitting needle pressing into something deep, I have many t
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 19 year male college student, and I have had this problem for several years. At random moments, usually pretty rarely, I will get a sudden, sharp pain in the lower right area of my abdomen. It will cause me to panic for the brief second that it lasts (i'll clutch it etc..), because it feels really severe. It always goes away though, and since it's been a problem I've had for a long time, I don't really think it's a big issue.
Avatar n tn Diagnosis is by abdominal ultrasound and serum amylase and lipase levels. Treatment is started after consultation from a gastroenterologist. The morning stiffness and the pain in the joints is not related to the abdominal pain.It may be due to fibromyalgia or arthritis.Pls consult an orthopaedician to find out the confirmatory diagnosis as its treatment depends on the same. Take care and do keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I am a 28 year old female with chronic dull aching pain in LRQ for about a week now. Was admitted to hospital on Mon released on Tuesday to rule out appendicitis...While there my WBC was high 12,500 but went back down to normal next day...Pain iS alot better but still there along with nausea and low grade fever 99.6 at highest. They said I didn't have appendicitis but I have convinced myself otherwise. I am so nervous that it's gonna rupture and I'm gonna die.
