Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis pain ribs

appendicitis

Avatar n tn My son, age 9, has had recurrent bouts of pain in his ribs. Each episode consists of a sharp pain in the same spot on his ribs, dark eyes, fatigue, and a fever of around 101 degrees. Each episode lasts for 2-4 days. He has had seven episodes: 05/2011, 12/2011, 05/2012, 08/2012, 09/2012, 10/2012, 11/2012. During an episode it hurts to laugh or breathe deeply. The episodes are becoming more frequent, and this last episode has continued for longer than normal.
Avatar n tn m pregnant with my first baby I have been having a pain just under my ribs right in the middle for about a week now and down near my appendix has a ultrasound to make sure it wasn't serious but they didn't check the top of my belly just under my ribs and I'm still having this pain I'm only 6 weeks anyone know what It could be ?
Avatar m tn Also, I would ask for a blood test to rule out appendicitis, sometimes this can be a sign of beginning appendicitis, you certainly do not want it to get worse.
Avatar m tn I have a bicornuate uterus also, and it never caused me pain under my ribs (or anywhere else). She might have endometriosis, or something else. Keep looking for an answer, it's not the shape of her uterus.
Avatar f tn I have had a dull pain below my ribs for 5 days that feels like hunger but doesn't go away when I eat! It began with intense pressure but now is only annoying, and I don't want to over eat. Any idea what it could be? Someone said this happened to them for a month before their appendix burst, or I read something about gastritis, and I did drink too much alcohol last week, as I had visitors.
Avatar f tn I've had the same pain for weeks now and was worried about it. The only way to ease it is lay on my right side. My doctor said it cld be my gallbladder. Check to see if there is any foods that triggers it. If not he said it cld just be how the baby is positioned. But if it is ur gall bladder they can't so anything till baby is out. So ease it the best u can. BTW its not ur belly stretching.
Avatar f tn I'm 13.2 weeks pregnant & I have pain on on my right side by my ribs is this normal ?
Avatar f tn I have a dull pain that started a week ago. I will expierence the pain for a whole day off and on then I won't feel it for days on end. It's in my upper right side under my ribs. I have an appointment this Wed but any help on what this could be would be great. Nothing in particular triggers the pain, food drink activity etc.
Avatar n tn right sided pain under the ribs is most likely to be due to gall bladder infection u should immediately go to an ER & please do not neglect it or go for self remedies
Avatar m tn The symptoms you described could sometimes be due to appendicitis, that’s when you have pain on the right side just above the pelvis and you may also have referred pain around the umbilicus (belly button). The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections like. Stool analysis, urine analysis and imaging studies may help diagnose these conditions.
Avatar f tn Did they check him for gallstones? Pain around the shoulder area and ribs can be a sign of a bad gallbladder.
Avatar n tn It now seems a little swollen where the pain is (right where your ribs start to curve up to form around the diaphragm). I have had almost constant diarrhea or pasty b.m. for many months now. I had my gallbladder removed 20 yrs. ago. It is very tender to the touch, and if I do a lot of activity (walking around a mall, etc) it REALLY starts hurting. I do drink alcohol and have acid reflux. I am very seriously considering going to a doctor, but I have no health insurance and already have many dr.
Avatar m tn He felt around for my hernia, took note of my symptoms, and said that my hernia was basically healed and that he thought that I could have appendicitis. This came as a surprise. He said that if the pain got any worse within the next day or two, or if the pain didn't go away at all, then we should go into the ER. The pain got slightly worse and a lot more frequent within the next 2 days so we decided not to risk it and go into the ER.
Avatar f tn At that time he stayed at the hospital over a month and got really depressed there. Anyway he still has this pain. His symptoms are Long burps, constant pain on the right side which radiates to the back aswell. When he had his appendix removed they did key-hole surgery for this. Could this be the cause of his pain? Maybe some fluid was left inside him? Because I also had my appendix removed about 2 years ago n had the normal surgery and i was fine afterwards. Please could somebody help.
Avatar f tn No vomiting, no nausea, no fever just pain it feels like it's right on my ribs
Avatar m tn I have IBS and I've been having burning pains for many years. It's on the left side below the ribs. In my case it's the gas causing the pain. Read the information about splenic flexure syndrome.
4173185 tn?1350594679 The pain causes nausea and has actually made me throw up so much it came out my nose. On my left side sometimes the pain shoots straight up from my ovary to my ribs. I have no idea what it is, does anyone else have any ideas? Or does anyone happen to know of a good gynecologist in the Artesia/Carlsbad/Roswell New Mexico area?
Avatar n tn My daughter had a UTI that developed into a kidney infection and had persistent pain under her right ribs in addition to flank pain. The doctors kept refusing to address the pain under the ribs until one compassionate soul told us it was likely referred pain, not uncommon under these circumstances..
Avatar m tn I have had right side abdominal pain for a month now. The pain feels like ripping and I cannot lay on that side in bed, lift anything, turn over, or barely even walk. After that pain started, I began to have severe headaches, gripping chest pain, and abdominal pain that changed location frequently. In the past week, I have developed severe sweating (but no fever), chills, extreme fatigue, and sleeplessness.
Avatar m tn Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away. I am hesitant to spend 5 hours in an ER and then having no pain when I am finally seen. Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course?
Avatar f tn My sister told me if i had appendicitis, my pain would be getting worse cuz my aPpendix pain has been going for like 2 months now but only once the pain was severe and that was in the morning.
Avatar f tn Don't want to scare you but my sister had appendicitis, the pain started off as random sperts but suddenly got worse as the appendix started to split, she was rushed into hospital and they performed an emergancy opp. Some cases heal themselves, others don't like my sister's. I would ask another doctor; if they send you home again, just watch for ANY changes and monitor your temperature, urine colour and strength of pain over the next 2-3 days.
Avatar f tn This probably won't help but I had appendicitis pain aswell. The first doctor thought I had the start of an appendix infection. A week later I was still sick but the pain moved under my ribs. The second doctor I saw knew immediately what it was and said he had seen other people present with appendicts pain aswell, he thought it was caused by refered pain down the muscles, or an irritation in the bowel by small stones or too much bile. But he did point out it was only a theory.
