Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis in young child

appendicitis

Avatar m tn He told me that he had pain in his mid-abdomen when young too, not continuing, but on and off. And that he is very tired in the time period around his stroke until now. (start 2008) What could be the problem? Thank you so much!!
Avatar n tn Benign dermoid ovarian cysts uncommonly cause symptoms in young girls. It is estimated that they constitute 0.35% of all tumors occurring in children of both sexes less than 15 years of age. Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum.
Avatar m tn Hi I am 13 yes a very young age and you might wonder why I am asking this. I have liked girls all my life been aroused by them and everything but something WIERD happened when I was with friends watching a movie and it had gay people in it. And my stupid mind asked it self am I Gay? Or Bi? This is when it started and I've been really anxious I don't want to be gay, I want to have a family and be successful in life.
Avatar n tn t figure out the reason, but it has occured since having my third child, year prior to him I had appendicitis...possibly scar tissue???? I don't have any other symptoms, I exercise daily, not tired with three young kids and working 12 hour days twice a week. The pain is like I'm getting a stomach virus or have food poisioning, comes on all of a sudden, severe, I'm sick for the evening and the next day I have cramping and most everything goes thru me. Colitis????
Avatar m tn t necessarily rule out appendix issues either - The symptoms of appendicitis can vary. It can be hard to diagnose appendicitis in young children, the elderly, and women of childbearing age. The first symptom is often pain around your belly button. (See: Abdominal pain) The pain may be minor at first, but it becomes more sharp and severe. Your appetite will be reduced and you may have nausea, vomiting, and a low fever.
Avatar f tn Omgosh! A few years ago i had appendicitis and had to have surgery however i was very early in my pregnancy. I was so scared but my baby girl was born healthy and fine. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby tomorrow.
Avatar n tn You have mentioned that you were diagnosed with appendicitis. Was an appendectomy done? In this case I would suggest that an abdominal ultrasound may be done to ascertain the cause of the pain. A baseline urinalyis and urine culture may also be helpful to determine if infections or urinary tract stones may be present. I do not think the fungal infection has been causing the pain. Unless the area is swollen and severely infected the tenderness may be noted when the skin is palpated.
Avatar n tn They suspected appendicitis, but an ultrasound turned up nothing and surgeon determined it was not appendicitis. During each episode, the inflammation markers in his blood rise (ESR 20, CRP 67), but then fall to normal levels after the episode ends. An X-ray showed nothing. A CT scan during an episode showed no problems with the digestive system or any signs of cancer, but did show a pleural effusion in the exact spot where he has the pain.
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar n tn A general approach to abdominal pain can be followed by realizing that pain affecting the intestines or stomach will be felt in the middle of the belly (not one one side or the other), UNLESS the pathology is causing irritation of the inside abdominal wall. That is why appendicitis, for example, generally starts as pain in the midline,, and then as the infected tissue irritates the inside wall of the peritoneal cavity, the pain is felt in the right lower quadrant.
Avatar n tn Nash191: Life certainly isn't fair and I've been in Medicine a long time and I have to tell folks pretty near every day "the two most difficult questions in Medicine are "Why me (or my child)" and "Why now? Best of luck to your family.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm niya and I'm only 16 years old I recently discovered I was pregnant about 4days ago and it's been hard.
Avatar n tn re very young for this to be cancer. Have they checked you for appendicitis? It causes pain to go down your leg, and pain between your ovary area and navel. I have never heard of anyone having sciatica pain with colon cancer, I think this was more of a coincidence with the lady you speak of. A blood test would tell your doctor if this is appendicitis. I have seen cases where it lasts quite awhile before becoming really inflammed.
Avatar n tn Mesenteric Lymphadenopathy This is a very common cause of right side abdominal pain in children. It presents as pain in the right lower abdomen. Typically, the child would have had cold or sore throat in the preceding days up to two weeks. The neck glands would be enlarged. This is often confused with appendictis. The difference been that the child would still retain his or her appetite.
5670884 tn?1374749288 My sister had appendicitis when she was pregnant. If the pain doesn't go away after a while, look up the symptoms of appendicitis and see if that sounds possible, and if so go to the doc.
Avatar f tn It caused her extreme pain around 4 in the morning a few times (hence the trips to the ER) b/c she sleeps in a fetal position - causing the ligament to be stretched in the same position with no relief for 5 or 6 hrs. Ouch. She started phys therapy - the pain is lessening as she is doing exercises between sessions to get the hips aligned again. This sort of thing is caused by stress. No one in the medical field even thought of this....ligaments don't show up on their tests.....
Avatar f tn I often think that 2 is too young for children to be completely dry I know other countries start young however sometimes if they are not ready they regress, he will get back to it, is he sore, chapped in any way as bath water may sting ,check for redness, has anything new happened in his life , day care a new sibling, family visiting, children are creatures of habit, if there is something new happening he may feel vunerable.
Avatar f tn Thank u guys for your support! I am very depressed about this because it is very frustating when you don't know what's wrong with you, espicially because I have a young child and little support as her dad works away. I will definatly make sure my doc books all those scans and blood tests.. I am also trying to get a second opinion. My doc moves very slow like she's not bothered..
Avatar f tn Im having my first child... When I go to the bathroom pee or poop it hurts my belly so bad... it hurts to get up and walk or even to sit up.. I have pain in my butt to.. is this all normal?
Avatar m tn m a 19 year male college student, and I have had this problem for several years. At random moments, usually pretty rarely, I will get a sudden, sharp pain in the lower right area of my abdomen. It will cause me to panic for the brief second that it lasts (i'll clutch it etc..), because it feels really severe. It always goes away though, and since it's been a problem I've had for a long time, I don't really think it's a big issue.
Avatar f tn I'm a young mother due August 15th and i'm looking for other young mothers to really talk about my experiences with and maybe grow a friendship with over time. I'm new at being a soon to be parent. I'm almost 9 weeks expecting my first child. I dont really know anyone other than myself that is expecting a baby and sometimes us mothers just need someone we can relate too. Anyone interested?
Avatar m tn I know you will say I need checked out and I agree in my brain, but the other part of my brain wants to know if these long pain free periods over the course of 3 or so months without a perforation are typical of appendicitis issues? So, in summary, I am curious about the long course of this and the pain free periods. Thank you.
