Common Questions and Answers about Symptoms of appendicitis in young children

appendicitis

Avatar n tn Benign dermoid ovarian cysts uncommonly cause symptoms in young girls. It is estimated that they constitute 0.35% of all tumors occurring in children of both sexes less than 15 years of age. Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum.
Avatar m tn My relative (82 years old man), had a fever of 39 deg C one night and pain in lower right abdomen, and ultrasound showed his intestines at this part to be swollen and infected (the doc suspected appendicitis, but it was not), and he is currently on antibiotics and panadol right now. He told me that he had pain in his mid-abdomen when young too, not continuing, but on and off. And that he is very tired in the time period around his stroke until now. (start 2008) What could be the problem?
Avatar m tn t necessarily rule out appendix issues either - The symptoms of appendicitis can vary. It can be hard to diagnose appendicitis in young children, the elderly, and women of childbearing age. The first symptom is often pain around your belly button. (See: Abdominal pain) The pain may be minor at first, but it becomes more sharp and severe. Your appetite will be reduced and you may have nausea, vomiting, and a low fever.
Avatar f tn How old is your son? Are these baby teeth or adult teeth? I wouldn't pull any adult teeth unless absolutely necessary. Yes, the wisdom teeth could potentially fill in that space but there are complications with that. As the wisdom teeth come in, they don't move sideways into the space but rather, they tilt in and lean in sideways which causes problems with the jaw bone.
Avatar f tn IT IS NOT too much to ask to have a clear plan and purpose/expectation for your child/and explicitly explain this to the child (in child term of course..) in therapy. Have you heard of ODD? This is something I hear of much more often professionally, and with very young kids. I would save the money, and immediately get a second or third opinion on this. I will repost with a website that may help... I would get a second opinion for sure.
Avatar n tn Generally people do not develop myopia until they are into adulthood. Myopia in young children is an indication of some underlying health condition. I know your opthamologist said there is nothing wrong. I would get a second or third opinion - including one from a natural/alternative practioner. Myopia in very young children is generally caused by inability of the eye muscles to focus for reasons that are not well understood if understood at all.
Avatar n tn I think my child has herpes in her throat and she's coughing like crazy I don't know what to do and I'm very worried I'm taking her to the doctor Monday I'm going to tell them that she needs to go to ENT and infectious disease and start acyclovir because she's done for 5 days and it comes right back I'm so worried
Avatar f tn My step son has mental health issues and we got the support above through the Paediatrician. Medication in children helps to a point but they need to learn new ways of coping aswell, which I'm sure you already know.. I would keep harassing as many people as you can and sooner or later somebody has got to listen! School can help with referrals too.
Avatar f tn Hello my name is Chrissy and I'm 17 years old I'll be 18 Nov 21. Yes I'm young to young to even think about baring children but it happened. Right now I'm just wondering what are the pregnancy symptom for week 1. I've been going through many changes and just seeking help. thank you.
Avatar n tn I have a 7 year old daughter with HCM, with a very thick septum (4.0 on MRI) and no symptoms--due to her septum size, she's recommended for an ICD--but we find that's very rare in young children and that she would need it through her abdomen. It is her only risk factor at this time-although a big one.... Any thoughts from others? Experiences? Docs/places that do the most of these WITH HCM folks? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I went to my primary who thought it was appendicitis on examination even though I mentioned a history of ovarian cysts in my mother, and my aunt died of cancer. The doctor sent me to the emergency room. I underwent a CT scan (which was "normal") and an ultrasound. (I never got the reports.) The ultrasound tech said that it was difficult to "see anything." She said that there was so much contrast from the CT that she could not see my ovaries.
Avatar n tn You are ascribing adult sexual behavior to a four-year old. That is where you are wrong. She is not indulging in adult sexual behavior, but the touchy-feely curiosity of a very young child. However, you don't want her to display herself or her little friends since this could cause many problems socially. I would tell her that "ladies" don't do that. And make sure she keeps her underwear on.
Avatar m tn I know you will say I need checked out and I agree in my brain, but the other part of my brain wants to know if these long pain free periods over the course of 3 or so months without a perforation are typical of appendicitis issues? So, in summary, I am curious about the long course of this and the pain free periods. Thank you.
697148 tn?1235499341 Hi Sarah19734, The simplest reason would be a "side ache" from just over exertion, and if this is your only symptom that's probably what a doctor will tell you also. Females have an extra rib bone on the right side and are sometimes more prone to "side aches" also. I'm not exactly sure where your referring to...
Avatar n tn s, it might be worth checking out. Normally, the muscles in the wall of the stomach contract in a coordinated way to move food through the stomach into the small intestine. The autonomic nervous system controls this muscular action. Diabetes can damage the autonomic nerves. This is called diabetic autonomic neuropathy. As a result, the stomach loses it's coordinated muscular activity and doesn't empty the stomach properly.
Avatar n tn When they start interacting with outside chldren, they should be forwarned that this type of behavior is totally unacceptable with other children. And they and you could get into lots of trouble. If they require an example of trouble, give them one where they can get taken away from home. Tell this to the oldest as he would understand better. I have encountered such behavior while watching a friends two boys and I just let them go and told her about it afterwards.
Avatar m tn The pain in appendicitis generally starts around the umbilicus and moves to the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, pelvic infections, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
