Avatar f tn My son had sudden onset symptoms causing a STAT CT scan to rule out Appendicitis. It did rule it out. They found Mesenteric Lymphadenitis present. The pain just doesn't seem to want to subside. Do you have any thoughts on how I can be more proactive to help him??
Avatar m tn Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course? What has prompted my question is that I had two episodes yesterday, one in the morning and a very severe bout in the evening. I keep thinking this will just go away especially when I'm pain free and I forget about it.
Avatar n tn s, it might be worth checking out. Normally, the muscles in the wall of the stomach contract in a coordinated way to move food through the stomach into the small intestine. The autonomic nervous system controls this muscular action. Diabetes can damage the autonomic nerves. This is called diabetic autonomic neuropathy. As a result, the stomach loses it's coordinated muscular activity and doesn't empty the stomach properly.

I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. Avatar n tn Benign dermoid ovarian cysts uncommonly cause symptoms in young girls. It is estimated that they constitute 0.35% of all tumors occurring in children of both sexes less than 15 years of age. Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum.
Avatar m tn You were right in suspecting appendicitis and kidney stones. Kidney stones can persist for years and cause symptoms only when they start moving. They can move, cause pain and again remain in a position for long periods of time. Similarly chronic appendicitis too can behave this way with bouts of pain, localization of infection and inflammation and a symptom free period.

9497408 tn?1404140019 On the surface, your symptoms sound like appendicitis. Your elevated temp, the referred pain, all points to that. Sometimes ultrasounds do not reveal the true issue - they are not detailed enough. Personally, I experienced appendicitis much like you are experiencing. The "twist" was I had a cyst in my intestine as well. It took surgery to locate the problem(s). No test - and I had them all - revealed the truth. Go to the hospital. They are probably thinking you are drug-seeking.
Avatar n tn You have mentioned that you were diagnosed with appendicitis. Was an appendectomy done? In this case I would suggest that an abdominal ultrasound may be done to ascertain the cause of the pain. A baseline urinalyis and urine culture may also be helpful to determine if infections or urinary tract stones may be present. I do not think the fungal infection has been causing the pain. Unless the area is swollen and severely infected the tenderness may be noted when the skin is palpated.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Like your daughter they kept telling me it was this and that but still continued, Finally while in the hospital after a scan an Italian Doctor who was to do exploratory surgery came in to talk to me. Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. Avatar n tn They suspected appendicitis, but an ultrasound turned up nothing and surgeon determined it was not appendicitis. During each episode, the inflammation markers in his blood rise (ESR 20, CRP 67), but then fall to normal levels after the episode ends. An X-ray showed nothing. Avatar f tn Appendicitis comes to mind. Does your child have the pain in the belly button or to the lower right abdmonial area? This sounds like it to me. Of course it could be something else I'll look further. But, this is my first thought. I had my appendix out when I was 10 years old. I had vomiting for a month, abdominal pain (not necessarily in the right abdomin), fever, don't remember diarrhea but you can, white count was up. Symptoms went away after the operation.
Avatar m tn He should have no pain. Even if he were in the early stage of cirrhosis (stage 4) he should have no symptoms other than fatigue as the liver is still able to perform all of its functions. It is only when the second stage of cirrhosis (End-Stage Liver Disease, Child-Pugh Class B) is reached that a person will develop symptoms and complications do to the amount of liver damage. At stage 3/4 the only things he needs to avoid are substances that can be toxic to the liver.
Avatar f tn Appendicitis does not spread in families or acquired congenitally. But if your family has got a problem of allergies, like esinophilia,it may run in families and finally lead to esinophilic appendicitis, which is a rare condition. Considering you have normal history from background,I do not think that yu are prone for acquiring appendicitis.Talk to your Doctor if you have any strange symptoms of abdomen or any other and get evaluated.
