Avatar f tn While you are waiting to get in with your asthma docotor, talk to your pharmacist about what allergy medications are safe to take while expecting. You can also start sinus rinses to wash the allergens out of your nose before they trigger reactions. Showering before bed and washing bedding in hot water are also helpful allergen exposure limitting procedures.

Avatar m tn I have taken countless medications to treat the above mentioned health issue. All the Chest X-Ray are clear with not problem. The recent Chest XR shows no acute cardiopulmonary disease. The CTA Chest scan shows clear lungs and the heart and pulmonary vasculature is normal. My question to you is: What else can be the problem? Please, I will appreaciate your professional advise or analysis.
Avatar f tn Spiriva is an anticholenergic used to treat various forms of COPD, but rarely asthma. The primary function of these medications is to reduce mucous in the respiratory system. They do have a mild broncho-dilating affect. I have not used Spiriva so I am unsure of its dosage, but I have taken ipratropium which is in the same class. As a neb solution it lasts 6 hours and as an MDI it last 4 hours. Check your prescription for dosing on this medication.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar f tn Since you have reactions to so many medications, it may be that you are allergic to certain food colorings or excipients that are used in formulating the medications. My boss, a doctor, cannot use any products (like soft drinks, vitamins, prescribed meds) that contain one of the common dyes, or he is at risk for anaphylatic shock.
Avatar n tn A quick trip to the doctor and I was told that I had some kind of nasty allergic reaction which clogged my sinuses, gave me a post nasal drip which in turn caused the sore throat and asthma to act up. She prescribed Astelin, a nasal spray antihistamine and described the allergic reaction as a sort of systemic thing and that the astelin should clear it all up. That was Wednesday. I've been using it as told since then and I've only really noticed a very very slight improvement.
1135961 tn?1279145314 Another possibility is that there is another lung disorder taking place, hence the bad response to the usual asthma medications. You are on a very large amount of drugs, especially the fact that you are also on oral prednisone, which makes one question if there may be steroid resistance. It's rare, but does happen that there is very little response to steroids. These are all things that your doctor will work with you to determine what is the best treatment for your lungs.
Avatar m tn Hello, My question is the following. A couple of months ago my fiance and I got a cat, the first day I had an allergic reaction immediately, red eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion.
Avatar f tn Till then you could try warm saline gargles, steam inhalation, oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine and see if it helps with your symptoms. Let us know if you have any other doubts and post us about how you are doing. Regards.
1491252 tn?1297450771 The first and most important component of asthma control is trigger control. An oral antihistamine could go a long way in helping you control your asthma. In addition to the oral antihistamine nasal sprays can be very helpful as well - steroid and/or antihistamine. Singulair may be quite beneficial for you as well. You do need to watch for signs of depression with Singulair though.
Avatar m tn I am able to control the asthma mostly with antihistamine. Every once and a while I have regular asthma and I just use my rescue inhaler and stop what I am doing or leave the area. Walking past smokers will set off the asthma or Bleach, Clorine. Many irritants do it. If I get away fast it will undo, if too long I would require an inhaler to reverse it. My I ask. What do they look for when taking a chest X-ray. I thought they just wanted to make extra money from me.
