Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine drugs asthma

antihistamine

Avatar f tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. Let us know about how you are doing and if you need any other information. Post us about what your doctor advises. Regards.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, one should be very careful before taking any medication. As few drugs are known to cross the placenta and can have adverse effects in fetus. Pregnancy may be complicated by new-onset or preexistent allergic disease, including rhinitis, anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema, and atopic dermatitis. Pregnancy and asthma is extensively studied.
Avatar f tn You may need a stronger medication, so you should talk to your doctor. There are some asthma drugs that you can use during pregnancy but it is still better to use one that hasn't be tested then not be able to breathe. You could also ask about an antihistamine or other allergy meds that you could take.
Avatar n tn old daughter has been getting hives/welts ever since she was a toddler. She has a history of asthma induced allergies. Was tested and found to be allergic to eggs, sweet oranges, cats, barn animals, all trees, and grasses. She now, thinks that she has (outgrown) her asthma and her allergies to eggs and sweet oranges.. Her hives/welts is always present after she has contact with water. No matter the temperature or, be it salt water or non. She had mono. when she was in her 3rd yr. of college.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar n tn I have bad allergies, sneezing, itchy eyes,SEVERE post nasal drip and asthma...( I have allergies all year but this is ridiculous) I went to my doctor who stated because I am a runner and biker these symptoms get worse with the change in the air and the effect it has on my lungs...She recommended Sudafed PE....does not work as well as Tylenol Severe Allergy..I have tried everything over the years...
Avatar f tn PostScript to asthma enquiry... I am taking the Nasonex (as well as Neilmed saline nasal rinse - although less than religiously) because 3 years ago an ENT in Canada said I had based on his observations, tests (including imaging) and questions... A. Chronic sinusitis b undeveloped sinus X 1 C. Not serious nasal polyps In the 1970s a clinical ecologist determined by back substance test that I had numerous allergies and got me started on immunotherapy by giving myself thigh injections.

Avatar n tn A number a years ago the connection between NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - aspirin, ibuprofin, Aleve, naproxin...) and increased asthma risk was made public. I had mild asthma attacks at the time with ibuprofin and stopped taking them. Within the last year, reports started coming out that Tylenol (acetaminophen) can also trigger asthma attacks. Honestly, you are not alone.
1491252 tn?1297450771 The first and most important component of asthma control is trigger control. An oral antihistamine could go a long way in helping you control your asthma. In addition to the oral antihistamine nasal sprays can be very helpful as well - steroid and/or antihistamine. Singulair may be quite beneficial for you as well. You do need to watch for signs of depression with Singulair though.
1135961 tn?1279145314 My asthma has been out of control for about four months. I have seen two doctors and im on a combination of meds. They are, Advair500, Atrovent, Alvesco, Prednizone, Singulair, and ventolin. All these meds dont seem to work.Ive been to the e.r three times in the last two months. And during my last visit I was put on bypass. Its seems like every day my chest is tight, and I wease a little. Sure there are some good days, but overall my asthma is still out of control.
Avatar m tn Sounds more like allergies to me. Ask your doctor the next time you are in to see him though. Take care and God bless.
Avatar f tn Have never had any sign of allergy for 40 years, start from a month ago, I suddenly have a bad allergy, sneeze, running nose, cough, take Zyrtec Now, works well, but if skip the pill for half day, all my allergy symptoms flared up, especially asthma, tightening in airway, what to do? Feels like an indoor allergy, tried everything for dust mite free, still same How can I do the skin pick test need 7 days antihistamine free which will kill me first?
Avatar f tn s what i usually do when i catch a flu and my asthma flares up. and usually my asthma and cough would go away for about a few days. but i noticed after a week of taking cough syrup w/ salbutamol that my coughing is not getting better. so i went to visit my doctor after a few days and by then i was on my second week with cough. she told me that i should focus on treating my asthma so i nebulized on that visit and prescribed me a inhaler. i felt the relief but my cough and breathing is still bad.
Avatar m tn Do you think the above symptoms could be due to asthma medication. Previously I have been taking antihistamine, bronchodialators, antiinflamatory drugs for long time but for last few years I am using only one inhaller.
Avatar f tn There is asthma and reactive airway disease (basically similar to asthma but a bit more mild). It also could mild asthma that only flares during colds (mine only flares during colds and allergy season, rest of the time I don't use any meds). You have done the right thing - continue to use her "blue inhaler" aka ventolin or rescue inhaler until her symptoms are gone. If she gets worse or the inhaler is not working or lasting at least 4 hours, its time for a doc visit.
Avatar f tn just got stung 6 times by bees extremely painful and i have asthma what should i do
Avatar f tn Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.
