Avatar n tn Ok, let me try this again. I tried to post a minute ago but it didn't take. Thanks everyone for your advice. Went to the doc yesterday. No sinus issues, bloodwork normal. He thinks maybe it's my thyroid because of the symptoms (rapid weight gain, headache and fatigue nonstop) but last night I started getting shooting pains in the bottom of my feet, kept me up all night :( I have no idea what's going on. This morning my feet are tingly and feels like pins and needles when I walk.
Avatar f tn My daughter had the same problem but Vyvanse was the best choice after trying several other meds. When she couldn't gain weight I took her to several specialist trying to find help and finally her primary care pediatrician had the answer right away!!! She put her on Periactin which is an antihistamine...it's side effect is to make them hungry and gain weight!!! Plus it helps with her allergies and asthma!! She is maintaining and has grown over the summer... so far so good...

280234 tn?1532986249 Anyone ever take Vistaril for marked anxiety? I get anxious occasionally, and have tried all of the SSRIs. I can't take them. They make me gain weight & feel like I'm in a bad fog. I suffer from high BP & tachycardia, which I'm on medicine for, and when I get anxious my heart rate and BP go up, and I feel terrible.
Avatar n tn I want to maintain myself. Due to my physic, I feel complex in many situations. I want to gain weight. Please tell me any solution for the same if anyone have.........
Avatar f tn Hi and thanks for your reply. It seems like more people are telling me that they are getting hypothyroid in middleage or near menopause. Are you on thyroid meds now? As for the antihistamine, I'm not on it for allergies it is to lessen the number of migraines. I am taking a generic med called cyproheptadine that my neurologist gave me. It lowers serotonin. I have been skin tested for a lot of allergies and they all came up negative except the mold came up later.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar m tn My cat had fleas and he was constantly licking, fur was coming off and he lost weight. Vet gave him a shot and a pill, he started to gain weight again and returned to his old self and bothering the dog and playing. He stopped for a while but actually did have to have the shot and pill twice. Where he licked the fur off in the beginning all grew back. He is still his playful self but he is licking again and his hind legs are losing fur and one side of his backend by his tail.
Avatar m tn Be careful with sports drinks, the might help you gain weight but they contain either a lot of fat and sugar or harmful sugar substitutes and lots of artificial ingredients that can be harmful as well. Eating added protein in your meals and weight training will add muscle, but if you just want to gain any kind of weight eat a lot of simple carbs. They will turn quickly to sugar and add fat to your body and are unhealthy, but you will gain weight.
Avatar f tn I know lots of people on it for both depression and for insomnia, and no one had an appetite on it. If it does cause weight gain on anyone, it is a very rare thing. Personally, it didn't do anything to my appetite, and actually, I was losing weight back then because I wasn't interested in eating more than what I needed and had a lack of appetite because of the depression.
Avatar m tn Sleeping well is the easiest way to gain weight. A few exercises are known to promote weight gain, about which a trainer in a health studio may help you. Further, exercises will improve your appetite. Stick to a good, balanced diet with high proteins and plenty of fruits and vegetables, which in addition to helping you put on weight, will keep you healthy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn How hard was it to lose the baby weight? Be honest.
918275 tn?1254068752 I started out on Risperdal and then was switched to Abilify, which seemed to slow the weight gain down, but I am continuing to gain weight which is very troubling to me. I have read alot about Topamax and it's weight loss side effect. I wonder if my psych would be willing to prescribe it for me since the weight gain is really putting a damper on my progress as far as happiness goes.
Avatar f tn Its not diabetes which causes weight gain, it's weight gain which causes diabetes. Her first step is to lose the weight, make lifestyle changes with her eating habits, and start performing 30 minutes of physical exercise daily. A huge number of people have been able to reverse their diabetic condition back to normal just with weight loss. Read other threads on this forum as nutritional advice and weight loss has been discussed a number of times - what to eat, what to avoid.
1473300 tn?1397588529 Your height and weight put you in the same weight gain category as me and by 20 weeks they want us to gain between 20-30 pounds. According to the book, we should gain 40-56 pounds by 38 weeks. The reason they give for gaining more weight early on is that with twins as they grow your stomach has less room for food so they want you to store up some fat at the beginning. This is why I will definitely get my doctor's opinion before following this advise.
Avatar f tn t seem too concerned, but not thrilled either, about my low weight gain. But it was enough to make her want an ultrasound to make sure baby was on track for weight (boy, was she: 71st percentile). After that I must say I have indulged quite a bit in my eating...I showed that doc and put on 10 pounds in two weeks lol. Today I went back, and (despite my piggish eating hehe) I lost four of those pounds.

Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
