My question has to do with Vistaril and the weight gain issues that can be associated with it. On December 14, 2016, my pdoc put me on 25mg of Vistaril to be taken 3 times per day, but I wasn't getting any benefits from the medication. (I also take 60 mg. of Cymbalta; 40 mg. of Geodon twice per day; and 1 mg. of Klonopin - up to three times per day.). I've tried many other combinations of medicines in the past.
I was prescribed the Vistaril for breakthrough anxiety.
Finally after much research via internet i came across a tablet called PERIACTIN 4MG i work in a pharmacy and i didnt even know about it and its only a antihistamine but at the time i started to take them back in 2009 u could buy them over the counter but u have to get them from ur gp now anyway WOW 3 and a half stone i gained i loved it so i was 9 and a half stone yay! if u get some only take one tablet at night before bed.
No weight gain, tired but I take a strong antihistamine daily (side effect is fatigue) so before the antihistamine I was less tired. The doctor examined my thyroid and I don't have any lumps or abnormaliites. I had a CT scan of the throat about 6 months ago and that was normal. I don't know if the CT went as far as the thyroid but I think so. I am getting retested in 4 months. I did have a viral infection when I had my blood drawn and was thinking it could be that.

Thanks, I have been taking antihistamine and a nasal cortisone spray but it doesn't really seem to do much to be honest...
My cat had fleas and he was constantly licking, fur was coming off and he lost weight. Vet gave him a shot and a pill, he started to gain weight again and returned to his old self and bothering the dog and playing. He stopped for a while but actually did have to have the shot and pill twice. Where he licked the fur off in the beginning all grew back. He is still his playful self but he is licking again and his hind legs are losing fur and one side of his backend by his tail.

I know lots of people on it for both depression and for insomnia, and no one had an appetite on it. If it does cause weight gain on anyone, it is a very rare thing. Personally, it didn't do anything to my appetite, and actually, I was losing weight back then because I wasn't interested in eating more than what I needed and had a lack of appetite because of the depression.
Keep at it for a few days and increase further more and you will notice weight gain. Drink plenty of water. Sleeping well is the easiest way to gain weight. A few exercises are known to promote weight gain, about which a trainer in a health studio may help you. Further, exercises will improve your appetite.
Stick to a good, balanced diet with high proteins and plenty of fruits and vegetables, which in addition to helping you put on weight, will keep you healthy.
This is the time in your life more than ever that you should be eating healthy and exercising regularly. Expect to gain weight ; that is healthy and necessary for most women, but if the gain happens too quickly you MUST Work with your OB to ensure that you are as healthy as possible.
I would really listen to Alaysha's advice personally.. She's a model and one of the most stunning pregnant women I've ever seen, so I'd follow her rules for healthy weight gain personally lol.
I have taken quite a bit of different antibiotics back in May. I have stopped taking it a about 3 weeks ago, maybe longer and noticed that I have a hard time gaining weight now. I have had bad anxiety and depression as well recently which may have caused my appetite to go down drastically but when it comes back I start to eat a lot and it doesn't seem like I can gain weight like I used too.
SSRIs are notorious for weight gain, but Prozac has less of a weight gain potential (compared to say Paxil). Your weight gain may be natural - over the course of 20 years. Or it may be the result of the Prozac. But 2-3 pounds per year to gain from an SSRI is not very much. I was on Lexapro for 2-3 years and gained nearly 40 pounds in that time.
