Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and weight loss

antihistamine

Avatar f tn I have read that wellbutrin is safe to take during pregnancy and can cause weight loss (I am talking weight loss before pregnancy), so if it works as an antihistamine as well, it might be perfect for me. Thoughts??
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
1268921 tn?1288919056 i was also on 10 mg every night before bedtime and it made me lose so much weight. my neurologist said it was a very rare side effect, i guess it has different effects on people. my doctor had me on different medications and the medication i am on now works for me. he has me on 4 mg of cyproheptadine. you could ask about that because i've been on it and so far it's been the best one for my headaches, but beware, even half of the pill (2mg) knocks you out (makes you tired).
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks, I have been taking antihistamine and a nasal cortisone spray but it doesn't really seem to do much to be honest...
Avatar f tn I forgot to mention that both times have coincided with low carb dieting and fast weight loss- this may be relevant. I was taking 25 mcg levothyroxine as well.
Avatar n tn Yes thyroid problems can cause muscle, and joint pain along with the headache and weight gain. The first time when I responded to your comment I didn't know about the weight gain issues because you didn't mention them. Hopefully after you begin treatment for your thyroid, you will feel better soon.
Avatar m tn He is not interested in eating anything and over time has lost a third of his weight. His personality is the same and he drinks water, but how can I get him to eat?
Avatar m tn On day three I went to the doctor who ruled out shingles, and suggested I get tested for STDs and try an antihistamine. Tomorrow I will get tested for STDs, though likelihood that I will test positive for anything is extremely low. Antihistamines have done nothing.Tonight much of my scalp is sore, blotchy and sensitive, and the pain behind my ears and back of my neck persists. I’m worried. Do these symptoms fit any known of profile of possible ailments?
Avatar f tn I have this red rough and itchy patches on my face on and off. It will get better and seem to go away only to come back. I have tried to see if I was allergic to something but I cant figure it out. It itches and burns and nothing I put on it helps. The doc put me on antibiotics for 10 days and it helped alittle but came back. My skin will flake after it starts to get better and then it will start all over. I thought maybe rosacea but I am not sure.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hello, If it is sudden rashes and itchiness then it can be due to allergies or hives. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
1485372 tn?1359545131 we went to the ER and a family doc. and then the specialist and then the VA ENT He got steroids from each one. Nothing worked. He has dizziness every day.
Avatar m tn Thanks and i will tri to find hydrocortisone but can you give me some more antihistamine which i can find easily
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn Does your son have any other thyroid symptoms? Fatigue and/or drowsiness or insomnia? Weight gain/loss? Diarrhea or constipation? Brain fog? Elevated or lowered BP and/or HR? You can google symptoms to see a more complete list.
Avatar m tn I have a rather poor diet but I am going to try and take multi-vitamins and other supplements for a few months and see if that might fix it. Can anyone think of any reasoning behind this? I'll keep myself up to date on this thread and answer whatever questions you need.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
Avatar f tn There are healthy ways to lose weight and that could be discussed in the specific forum but obtaining a nutrionist is best and Weight Watchers good as well but avoid weight loss products. Most are unhealthy or useless. And products with Nutrasweet should be avoided as well as that can worsen depression (as some studies show). Replace all sugared drinks with flavored seltzer water for starters. That worked for me.
