Avatar f tn Fever and loss of smell and taste are suspicious for COVID; consider getting tested.
Avatar n tn I had a mild TBI a year and 7 months ago and lost the real sense of smell and taste. Over time it got only little better (20%) and that is it. I can imagine what you are going through and I am in the same boat. You can go the following link and relate what people going through and some got lucky to get it back. No one can predict what will be the outcome and keep praying (if you pray). http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn A loss of taste side effect from Tekturna is quite common, about a third of users. Maybe your Doctor could try a different medication to see if there are any changes. You need to enjoy your food, and there are plenty of ways/medications to help control blood pressure. You shouldn't need to make such a big sacrifice as not enjoying your meals.
Avatar m tn t remember where u r from, but u have good choices of drs to be seen by...I have heard a lot of wonderful reviews of Dr Di....and Dr Oro as well.... Dr Di does the endoscopic PFD....so the amount of hair shaved is less and the scar is much smaller as well.Like Carolyn said, it is best to get 2 opinions, and to have them both from respected chiari drs is fantastic.! Do keep us posted on how the visits go..... as for the taste goes, most have noticed this after surgery....
Avatar n tn I fractured my skull Jan 2012 with bleeding, loss of consciousness all after a seizure. Two week later I lost my sense of taste and smell and later developed a bad taste/smell. Eating is NOT pleasant. I no longer enjoy pleasant scents. I only apply perfume I know smells good to me. I've lost 30 pounds simply because I can hardly stand the taste of food. It could be worse, I could have lost my eye sight or hearing. I try to look at it that way.
Avatar n tn Again, there are probably videos and interviews with fellow sufferers who can provide you with your answers. I remember one interview with a chef who had it and lost his sense of smell and taste and it hasn't come back yet, but he is undergoing a kind of occupational therapy to try and either recover it or learn to smell and taste in other ways.
Avatar f tn After taking the puffer last night and this morning, I seem to have lost most of my sense of taste and smell. Is this normal? Should I stop taking the puffer?
Avatar f tn a dense of loss of smell/taste is usually from nasal congestion. i'm suffering from it now - i haven't been able to taste or smell food for at least a week. i wouldn't be too worried, though, because senses should come back soon. here's a link that may or may not help you understand what's going on in there... http://www.american-rhinologic.org/patientinfo.loss.
1018650 tn?1251392119 My nose is not stuffy or runny at all and that is what is concerning me the most.. I have had a loss of smell and taste but its always been due to a runny nose and this time I can breath out of my nose fine.. I don't have a cough but everyone tells me I sound a little congested.. Just wondering what might be going on and if I will EVER get my sense of smell back again.. This is horrible not being able to taste or smell.. What are some meds I can take?
Avatar f tn I have visited the doctors and two hospitals - one said that it was sinus related and that the loss of taste and smell was probably nothing to do with my accident. The other was not convinced and gave me a head scan but thankfully all is clear on the scan. I feel really out of sorts and depressed -the thought of not being able to taste food again is horrific. I love food its just not the same eating and only being able to feel the texture in your mouth.
Avatar f tn And just for reassurance, for those whose main symptom was loss of smell and taste without the fevers and chills and coughing and breathlessness the disease was quite mild if they did have it.
Avatar m tn Causes include brain injury or seizures in the temporal lobe, various neurological disorders, overactive olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs), or the loss of inhibitory neurons brought on by a sinus infection or some other type of head cold.

973741 tn?1342342773 t mention it yet as a symptom to watch out for. You can google lots of articles about olfactory symptoms and loss of taste a few days after the smell sense is lost. the UK study said it was the first symptom for some but new data comes out daily so all I do is sniff the coffee each morning then smile.
