Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
If you get some rashes in different parts of your body: say the tear-duct or closest outer part of the eye, on the hands between the last knuckle on the fingers and the thickest part of the hand. It is also on the shaft of penis going towards the scrotum. For me it is only on one side. The rash is very white like dried skin but it is not I fear. What could this be and do you think it is fatal????
The rash by the eye does not hurt or ich.
For about three weeks now I've been getting these little red bumps on my hands,legs and sometime in back.
They sometimes appear in small Cluster headaches and sometimes are single bumps here and there. They
are itchy. It often looks like I've been attacked by a bugs. Now last two days i have a fever. It may be caused by BUG ? We have a bed bug problem in house. Generally the rashes disappearing two or three days.
I'm 23 weeks and ever since I hit 20 weeks I keep getting a rash on my face and arms, I've seen a doc one tried antihistamine and creams they have put it down to pregnancy..... Has anyone else had this happen??? If so has it gone away???
Alan Rockoff. I tend to have these scratch-like rashes on my upper and lower back, and am not sure what to do. Also, it tends to react more when I take a shower. The strange part is, I haven't been using any new products. After reading about dermographism, it sounds a lot like what I might be having problems with, but I'm just not sure. Thanks for your help!

You could stop the medications in consultation with your doctor , but do keep some antihistamine medications at hand for use in case of a sudden flare up of symptoms.

You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. Covering the affected area with bandages and dressings can help protect the skin and prevent scratching. You should choose mild soaps without dyes or perfumes and use a mild, unscented laundry detergent when washing clothes, towels and bedding.
I again got tested at 77 days and 84 days using the same kind of tests and got negative results. For the rashes, I was prescribed antihistamine (loratidine) and betamethasone cream(cortisteroids). I used the cream for 2 days and then stopped using but continued with taking the antihistamine. At 92 days post exposure, I again got tested for Hiv with Axsym hiv 1 and 2 ag/ab combo assay and it came out negative. My questions are:
1) Should i depend on all the tests that carried out.
It itches so badly but I try not to scratch it. Now I take antihistamine everyday in the evening but still I get the rashes. Some nights the shapes are round and other nights, it’s like lines. Are these hives or eczema? Why do I get it at night? Is it due to food?
I am a 30 year old male from India, currently in US for 6-7 months. I will be here till December 2008. I have seb derm, rosacea and psoriasis on my legs-now in remission for about 4 years. Since December 2007, I have observed reddish inflammation on my penis glans, with a few grainy eruptions. I applied some betamethasone and it went away. Now from this April, the redness resurfaced, it goes away with steroids and comes back immediately once its stopped.
There are hundreds of different rashes, some serious, some not so. Your description gives no clues at all. Could be psoriasis but who knows.
Rashes are hard enough to diagnose in person let alone over the internet. Mention it to your doctor next time you go.

I am a 15 year old male. a couple of days ago, i found little bubbly and itchy rashes on my neck. The next day there was more on the side of my neck. Those type of irritated rashes have also appeared on my penis, around the scrotum, and under the testes. Several rashes are also on my stomach, and on the underside of my arms. I don't know what it is, but it has a really annoying itch. I am not sure how to handle this. Do I need treatment, or does this naturally go away? Thanks a ton!
I have rashes and welts all around my mid section. So far they do not itch. I have never had this before.
A physical examination will confirm the cause. Take over-the-counter antihistamine like hydroxyzine for relief in symptoms. Mild cortisone creams may be used to soothe irritation. It is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations. Schedule an appointment with a dermatologist.

The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). You can take non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(Zyrtec) or Loratadine(Claritin) to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(Benadryl) is used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms.

You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .
Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.
For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).
How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
It would help to use some OTC antihistamine or antiallergic medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You could use calamine lotion for local application at the sites of the lesions.
Have you had any such reactions in the past? Is there a positive history of allergy in the family?
If the symptoms still persist, you should consult your doctor about it and also ask him/her whether you need to see an allergy specialist.

i have nooooo idea what they are so any suggestions would be great. ive been getting them for about a year, maybe a bit less.
Oh and the antihistamine the doctor has put me on is Ebastina (spanish name)
Also I bought some hydrocortisone cream and used it on my hands and arms and it has got rid of rashes that appeared there the other day (Well the rashes are still there but no longer pink) - I was prescribed this in the UK a year or so ago when I had dry skin rash things on my hands and what I had a couple of days looekd similar.
In addition to that, I also started taking two boiled eggs per day for around six weeks. For the info, I am a strict vegetarian and I had never taken any eggs or egg related products since my Birth. But because of this medicla problem I started consumting eggs. After I started taking eggs, I noticed few rashes on my forehead. The rashes are small raised bumps and there was some itching. The said rashes increased in quantity and spread to other parts of my nameley chest, neck and back.
