5HTP or SAMe are naturopath alternatives to the prescribed anti-depressants. If you are looking at taking these you should still be monitored by a Naturopath Dr. There are differences between the two and someone in that field would be the best person to assess which one would be right for your symptoms. I'm not sure if there would be any contradictions with 5HTP and diazepam as you shouldn't take 5HTP if you are already on an anti-depressant.
How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines?

First to clarify the reason(s) for taking this drug. If, for depression, there are other drugs that would work as well or better, with fewer side effects. Second, to ask that he/she reevaluate the diagnosis of angioedema. If that diagnosis is correct consideration should then be given to the treatment with a more effective drug specific for that condition.
Anti-depressants are for depression. It is something a little different, as are the tablets. They are to bring you up if feeling down. Anxiety meds bring you down, to relax you. Some anti-dpressants can make anxiety sufferers feel a whole lot worse. So be careful with your choice. If you need to relax and you end up on something that takes you even higher, it would be a bad move. Apart from that tablets work different for different people. What works on one might not work on you.
If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat.....

Took for 1week 5mg desloratadine after my ivf. transfer. Started the antihistamine day 6 after embryo transfer without thinking or consulting the dr.(i always took it during pregnancy and thought its safe but never at such an early stage of pregnancy). Just to let anyone know I found out from the pharmacy today that taking certain OTC cold and flu pills especially the night time versions contain chlorpheniramine or antihistamine.. Which should not be combined with meds like xanax because they both contain an ingredient to make you relax and it can effect your breathing by relaxing you essentially too much...
t stand it right now so have taken an antihistamine which has not done anything!!!! l am allergic to oral cortisone and sudafed makes me really jumpy inside my body' l am also very allergic to raw carrots, celery and kiwi fruit.....
Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
