He prescribed veramist for my seasonal allergies and suggested that i take a combination of NASALCROM(nasal), PATADAY(eyes), and intol (chest), ten minutes before entering a home with cats. Initially i saw great results with no allergies for about 3 or 4 hours. I did this with success for a few months. Then i began to notice that i still get nasal allergies when i enter a home with a cat (eyes and chest seem to be fine).
I am severely allergic to dogs and cats. Asthma, runny nose, etc.; I break out in hives if one licks me. Been like this since childhood, though my symptoms have lessened over the years. I'm now 47.
My parents got a dog a few years ago, but over time I have acclimated somewhat and now this particular animal doesn't seem to other me. I do not live with them, so my contact with the dog was sporadic.
My wife would like to buy a dog.
How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
So my 4 year old has moderate asthma...She is severely allergic to cats among other things. What about going on a trip and staying with family who has cats? Is that ok? Also, my mom has a cat and a dog, Can she have sleep overs at my moms? She is taking 2 breathing treatments a day. We don't have any animals in our home but do I have to take it to the extreme?
I am currently seaching for a new apartment. The problem is that most of them take dogs and cats, or, one or the other. "No pet" buildings are few and far between. So it looks like I may have to move into a building that accepts pets.
The question: What I'm concerned about is moving into a pet building and then being allergic to the animals in the building or perhaps one that WAS in my unit. My question: Is this possible? Am I worrying about nothing?
Anyone know if it is possible to develop an allergy to cats over time? And if it can take the form of a slight, skin-based reaction? Over the past few days all of the tiny cat scratched on my body (and there are a ton; I have two kittens) have become red, inflamed and itchy. Agh!
Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
I need to know if I can cut them up for 2 of my 9 cats that have visited my home and decided to stay. please do not say go to a vet since I am 69 and on Medicare and Medicaid. this is a town with no low cost clinics. I feel so bad for them . I cannot stand it. I have tried everything in my medicine cabinet including antifungal powder,spray and liquid. Also tried topical a .today one has even had the rash spread to his privates. I know they are so miserable .
She has also gotten antibiotics for a week for the infections in the wound, caused by the other cats licking the wound. We now keep her sepearate. The wound and the sympthoms have healed significally in just 2 days after she started cortisone. The vet have informed us of the chances for surviving, and side effects of this high amount of cortisone. We will lower the amount from Thursday and onwards, and then lower it again if no sympthoms, until we find the approperiate amount.
I know it takes a while to work i humans, I wonder if the same for cats, it seemed to do nothing for them. Once 7 hours before leaving, and once before the taxi. We did not want to risk doing at the airport since there would be no way to restrain them.
On the way back, we have these options:
1) No meds. Japan Cat network said they believe most US vets said meds in the air are too risky.
2) Paxil from the Tokyo doc.
Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Also would Alegra help with my rash and itching or is that just for sneezing, stuffy nose and stuff like that?
Also my cat is an outside cat but she hangs out on the front porch right outside my air conditioner in the living room and I am wondering if some of those allergens could be coming in the house? My itching did not start till we got the dogs tho.
a simple blood test can tell you how sensitive you are to cats etc. I am not sure what type of antihistamine you took, but there are several others that may control your allergy better, especially if you plan on living in the same home as teh cat you seem to be allergic to .
and she prescribed a stronger inhaler which is diskus (which i was not able to buy) and also she gave me antihistamine for my clogged nose and also prescribed a mucolytic. after taking the pred for 5 days my breathing got better my cough was better my phlegm was just plain white thick phlegm it's the best i have ever felt for the last 4 weeks. so i went through finishing the rest of my med which are montelukast, doxofylline, antihistamine, and mucolitic.
no nose bleeds in cats aren't common at anytime of the year. I'm glad you are gettin her in for a Vet check today, could be a sign of very high blood pressure or a polyp in the nose.
Hi, thanks for the advice. I tested her for fleas and she hasn't got any one tested my other cat and dog too and found none..... I'm going treat the house again just invaded there has been an odd one or two lerking about. She hasn't been over grooming no and she is fine when we touch the areas that are scanned.
Was tested and found to be allergic to eggs, sweet oranges, cats, barn animals, all trees, and grasses. She now, thinks that she has (outgrown) her asthma and her allergies to eggs and sweet oranges.. Her hives/welts is always present after she has contact with water. No matter the temperature or, be it salt water or non. She had mono. when she was in her 3rd yr. of college. Do you think could be her underlying problem?
DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
