antihistamine

Avatar n tn try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.
1474611 tn?1416632958 It is very possible their is an allergic reaction to the oil in the product. This is fairly common with cats and Frontline. Usually they get itchy and a bald spot where the product was placed. I know Frontline has a non-oil formation for cats because of this issue. Its a spray so its a pain to apply, but it does work if the issue is an allergy. Other products may have similar sprays for cats. (for some reason cats tend to be more sensitive to the oils than dogs).
Avatar f tn His internal organs have all come forward and are pushing on his lungs and heart. He is otherwise healthy, runs, jumps eats drinks and eliminates. I am just nervous about the prednisone. Thanks for any advice you might have.
681148 tn?1437661591 I went looking in the archives and found what I was looking for. Mrs_Savas and her husband used to be CL's here and knew alot about cats. Here's the link. Read Mrs_Savas' reply. It's about Benedryl. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I had been treating my 3 cats for fleas and thought one had gone crazy and bitten me all over my stomach in the night. There are about 40 pink flat bumps, but they don't itch. Could this be a type of viral infection rash?
Avatar m tn Background: I am allergic to dogs and cats and begin to wheeze around them. I can't breathe well in peoples homes with a few dogs or cats. I'm not even sure what it is about the animal that I am allergic to. The dander? The hair? something else? Well, anyway, that is not my question. Problem: I am currently seaching for a new apartment. The problem is that most of them take dogs and cats, or, one or the other. "No pet" buildings are few and far between.
Avatar n tn I am severely allergic to dogs and cats. Asthma, runny nose, etc.; I break out in hives if one licks me. Been like this since childhood, though my symptoms have lessened over the years. I'm now 47. My parents got a dog a few years ago, but over time I have acclimated somewhat and now this particular animal doesn't seem to other me. I do not live with them, so my contact with the dog was sporadic. My wife would like to buy a dog.
Avatar f tn hey i work for a company that can fix all that my daughter is allergic to dogs cats and dust mites also we work with indoor air pollution i would love to help you out and have your daughter keep her pets
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar f tn She is severely allergic to cats among other things. What about going on a trip and staying with family who has cats? Is that ok? Also, my mom has a cat and a dog, Can she have sleep overs at my moms? She is taking 2 breathing treatments a day. We don't have any animals in our home but do I have to take it to the extreme?
326352 tn?1310994295 She was allergy tested yesterday and came up with a 4/5 allergy to cats. She has moderate to severe eczema being treated with topical corticosteriods (Elidel, Elocon, something else) and has now been prescribed what is probably the REST of the list of cortocosteroids by the allergist. We've tried Singular in the past, but it made her mean. We're going to try that again once she gets off the prednisone and augmenten (unrelated recurrent ear infection).
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
1409507 tn?1281917406 you have a pet dander allergy and should consider removing the cats from your environment...
Avatar f tn I need to know if I can cut them up for 2 of my 9 cats that have visited my home and decided to stay. please do not say go to a vet since I am 69 and on Medicare and Medicaid. this is a town with no low cost clinics. I feel so bad for them . I cannot stand it. I have tried everything in my medicine cabinet including antifungal powder, spray and liquid. Also tried topical a .today one has even had the rash spread to his privates. I know they are so miserable .
Avatar f tn Hi, I agree with the above post by Dr. Rajput. Be careful, because if you take an antihistamine it's like putting a bandaid on a cut without cleaning it up or getting to the root ... allergies can progress with repeated exposure. My daughter and my son both get symptomatic from cats and it's progressed into asthma, etc. We don't have a cat., but did for 20yrs and both tested negative or extremely tiny positive but both reacted!
Avatar m tn You could just have chronic allergies and need to take patenol longer and use oral antihistamine as well. Dry eyes could be involved. Oral flax and fish oil may help. Maybe you didn't take the doxy long enough - perhaps minocycline very low dose with food might be easier on you. Sterilid or Ocusoft Plus lid cleanser pads might help for certain cases. I expect culture to be negative because you have been on antibiotics and often these cases are not bacteria related. Michael J.
Avatar m tn first of all I am so glad you and your family and kitties are safely out of the danger area, this is all so sad and I feel for you all and the plight you are facing. I will do some research for you and get you some answers by tonight. but I will say right now NOT to use acepromazine, its not a good choice. and I don't think paxil was either, esp. in a situation where you aren't with the cats to monitor them...there can be side effects. I will do some checking on diazepam for you.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn After throwing up my lips, toungue and throat started to itch and swell up. My eyes became extremely swollen and itchy too. I took an antihistamine and my asthma pump and I was fine. After that experience with the apple, the exact same reaction started to happen after eating all fruit and most veg (only raw veg so I can have most cooked veg like brocolli, carrots etc). I then discovered recently that I’m also allergic to the majority of raw nuts.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar m tn a simple blood test can tell you how sensitive you are to cats etc. I am not sure what type of antihistamine you took, but there are several others that may control your allergy better, especially if you plan on living in the same home as teh cat you seem to be allergic to .
Avatar n tn Was tested and found to be allergic to eggs, sweet oranges, cats, barn animals, all trees, and grasses. She now, thinks that she has (outgrown) her asthma and her allergies to eggs and sweet oranges.. Her hives/welts is always present after she has contact with water. No matter the temperature or, be it salt water or non. She had mono. when she was in her 3rd yr. of college. Do you think could be her underlying problem?
Avatar f tn and she prescribed a stronger inhaler which is diskus (which i was not able to buy) and also she gave me antihistamine for my clogged nose and also prescribed a mucolytic. after taking the pred for 5 days my breathing got better my cough was better my phlegm was just plain white thick phlegm it's the best i have ever felt for the last 4 weeks. so i went through finishing the rest of my med which are montelukast, doxofylline, antihistamine, and mucolitic.
